2 BIOHACKING TRENDS TO KEEP ON YOUR RADAR

B

iohacking is the health trend taking the industry by storm, originating amongst scientists, health and wellness specialists in the US. Biohacking is a practice of optimising one’s body and mind to improve health and well-being by making small changes in one’s lifestyle and using specialist science based on biology. Dasha Ivanova, founder of Repose Space, a brand-new London fitness and wellness destination, which offers a dedicated Biohacking lab, has studied Biohacking in great depth. Exploring the concepts and techniques, Dasha built on her already extensive knowledge of contemporary and traditional treatments in order to tailor the concept in a way that would improve and extend the lives of her clients. ‘I was interested in how biohacking prolongs your life and can make you feel younger, so as soon as I heard about it I started studying the benefits and treatment techniques that fit naturally into daily life as well as being a great fit for our space,’says Dasha. An avid fan of Cryotherapy, Dasha has been practising the treatment for years and after noticing the many benefits it had on her health and wellbeing, decided to introduce a Cryotherapy

chamber to her London studio. ‘Cryotherapy is a great way to boost your energy and improve health and wellbeing. The procedure lasts three minutes and my team is on hand to ensure all clients come away feeling refreshed and happy.’ A cold blast of the full body Cryotherapy chamber, where temperatures plummet to – 85 degrees, also helps with weight loss, muscle recovery and chronic pains, and has rejuvenating qualities as it increases the production of collagen and supports cellular regeneration. Another of Dasha’s favourite biohacking treatments is the Infrared Sauna which is also available at Repose Space. The low temperature sauna heats the body from the inside out and penetrates the deeper levels of the skin. Different to a traditional sauna that heats the air within it, the body is heated directly through the infrared light. Because of the lower heat people are able to sit for longer, allowing the beneficial effects of a traditional sauna to be amplified through a more intense sweat at a comfortable temperature. ‘Temperatures in infrared saunas vary from 55 to 65 degrees which is the perfect heat for skin and amazing for detoxification as well as metabolism and rehabilitation. We suggest 20 to 40 minute sessions at least once a week to notice the true benefits of this biohacking treatment,’recommends Dasha.
