ECHANO has commissioned miscellaneous equipment for Norway Royal Salmonās subsidiary Arcļæ½c Oļ¬shore Farming. Originally a specialist supplier for the oļ¬shore energy sector, Techano now also provides liļæ½ing soluļæ½ons for the new generaļæ½on of large-scale oļ¬shore ļ¬sh farms. During the autumn, Techano service engineers completed installaļæ½on onboard for the ļ¬rst of two ļ¬sh farm rings for Arcļæ½c Oļ¬shore Farming. The equipment delivered includes a set of net handling winches, capstans, chain jacks, hydraulic power units (HPUs) and handling davits. The farms are now at their locaļæ½on outside Fellesholmen near TromsĆø in northern Norway. Ćystein Bondevik, Sales Director at Techano, says: āWe have also experienced a high level of interest in our ļ¬sh-transfer systems. The need for safe transfer between ļ¬sh farm and live ļ¬sh carriers is increasing as the number of farms operaļæ½ng further from the shore increases. The harsher condiļæ½ons and challenging weather put the operaļæ½on at risk, but Techano FTS secures safe transfer.ā The most recent delivery is miscellaneous equipment for the live ļ¬sh carrier Harald Martin, which was delivered from Tersan shipyard in late October. Also, to meet the requirement for less manual work and safer operaļæ½on during ļ¬sh crowding, Techano has developed a system, Crowd Control, which improves health and safety and reduces risk of damage to nets and escapes. There is less need for support vessels around the ļ¬sh pens. As the crowding is automated and can be run at low speed and with controlled moļæ½ons, it creates a lot less stress on the ļ¬sh. The operaļæ½on can be

iniļæ½ated well before arrival of the wellboat, and as such have the ļ¬sh in posiļæ½on simultaneously as the wellboat arrives.
