INSTRUCTION MANUAL ROLLERSKI BRAKE Thank you for choosing Fischer rollerskis. The product portfolio has been developed together with cross country skiing experts especially for the sport of rollerskiing. You have thus made an excellent choice and we wish you a lot of pleasure with your products. Read the instruction manual and keep it carefully.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Rollerskiing is a complex activity which involves certain risks. Please note that the risks associated with rollerskiing can lead to serious or even fatal injuries. Therefore adapt your driving style and the selection of tracks according to your skill level. Take your time to mount the brake on the shoes properly and make the appropriate setting for the used rollerski. In case of doubt contact an authorized dealer. Comply with national rules and legislation. Make sure that your rollerski equipment is working properly every time before use. Check that there are no defective or missing parts and all screws are screwed down tight. Self-locking screws can come loose over time. If a self-locking screw completely gets loose it must be replaced with a new one. Any damage as a result of non-replaced screws is not covered by warranty. Do not use rollerskis if you do not feel physically fit, if you feel tired or you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any medication. All components used in connection with the rollerski must be designed for this type of use. If there are doubts an authorized dealer has to be consulted.

APPLICATION For rollerskiing protective equipment (helmet, hand, knee and elbow protection) has to be worn. In low light conditions or twilight reflective applications on clothing and equipment (e.g. poles, boots, etc.) should be used. The brake is designed for a maximum body weight of 100 kg (220 lbs). Any additional weight means that optimum performance is no longer guaranteed. Make yourself familiar with the braking technique before starting. The sequence of movements should be practiced several times before starting a larger tour. Start practicing on flat, clean and dry asphalt. If the conditions are wet the brakes operate with delay. Thus the full braking power can be affected. In general slippery surfaces should be avoided! Be careful when you walk down stairs, overcome curbsides and other obstacles (especially when the extension is mounted on the brake). Braking technique In general the brake can be used for the one-legged and two-legged braking technique. For this purpose, the brake is either mounted only on one or on both shoes. In both cases the calf has to be moved backwards. Thereby the braking pad gets pressed onto the rear wheel and activates the brake.

ASSEMBLY Assembly of the brake 1. The brake is directly mounted onto the sole in the heel area. The proposed area has to be checked for sufficient strength and thickness of the material before installation.

2. Depending on the width of the sole it has to be decided, if the M5 locknuts can be mounted on the inside of the horseshoe. If this is not possible the locknuts can also be placed on the outside to fix the pointed screw.

Assemble locknut depending sole width on the “inner” or “outer” side. 3. Fix the horseshoe loosely on the sole with the pointed screws as far in the back. Afterwards align the braking pad with the grooves for the binding on the sole in one line.

4. Remove the splash guard of the rear wheel on which the brake is applied. Put the boot together with the brake onto the rollerski and check whether the brake is properly aligned to the rear wheel (see picture). If this is not the case readjust the braking pad properly.

Lateral: Mount braking pad centered to the wheel, Rear: Position centrally above the wheel

By adjusting the brake buffer the distance between brake and boot can be defined precisely.

5. If the appropriate position of the brake has been found, tighten the two pointed screws left and right equally. Finally secure the M5 nuts against loosening.

Assembly note: the tips of the screws can be applied to shoes without prior drilling. They should be turned half way into the sole, on softer materials completely. Extremely hard plastic soles might need a pre-drilling action, though. After installation check if the brake is fixed properly. 6. With the help of a quick release the calf contact part can be adjusted laterally and also the distances of the braking pad to the wheel. With an upright stand (knee fully extended) the braking pad should almost touch the wheel. This setting can also be changed very quickly and easily later on.

Assembly of the extension The brake can be used in two different design variants. The standard version normally fits best for large wheels (100 mm) to be braked, since the distance between the braking pad and the wheel is quite short. For wheels with smaller diameters (80 mm) usually the version with extension fits best. However, this has to be decided individually depending which rollerski and boot is used, since the distance between the boot and the wheel is crucial.

Standard

Brake with extension

Furthermore there are two different types of braking pads to choose from. The narrow version has to be used for narrow wheels, the wide version for wide wheels.

Narrow braking pad

Wide braking pad

Pad with recess

Basically, the brake pad can be mounted with the recess showing to the front or to the rear. However, if the brake pad is positioned very close to the boot, it is recommended that the recess is looking forward to avoid a collision with the boot.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE Do not make any changes to the default assembly versions. Attachments or any replacement of accessories can affect the function of the brake. Therefore, only original parts must be used. Design changes and the use of non-original spare parts will lead to immediate cancellation of the warranty. Do not use any cleaners or solvents to clean. Just clean the brake with warm water and a soft cloth. Afterwards dry thoroughly. The use of high pressure cleaners is prohibited. Keep the brake in a cool, dry and well aired place where they are protected against light.
