FREQUENCY NORMALIZATION OF AUDIO SIGNALS

U.S. Patent (7,778,718,B2)

Frequency normalization is achieved by characterizing the frequency response of the audio source based on a reference input signal. This reference input signal is used to establish a reference frequency response, which is stored in memory and used to select equalizer settings. The system restores missing spectral content by summing multiple input signals from the audio source. The system then normalizes the frequency response based on characterizations of the signal by utilizing equalizer settings from memory.

In the early 70’s, Jim Fosgate studied the acoustical properties of automobiles by using a real time analyzer. Jim discovered multiple problems common in all vehicles; a midbass hump, a steep high frequency roll off and reduced bass response. This research lead to adding Punch EQ to Rockford Fosgate amps to help correct the acoustical deficiencies found in the automotive listening environment. The new Punch EQ2 is an on-board equalization circuit that when set to Low-Pass (LP) operation, becomes a variable Bass Boost. When set to High-Pass (HP) operation, it acts as a variable Mid-Bass and Treble Boost. When set to All Pass (AP) operation, both Bass and Treble frequencies are boosted.

MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY HEAT SINK APPLICATION MEHSA3 heat management technology takes heat sink efficiency to a new level. The key was to create a dielectric layer between the ceramic topside and the aluminum base that retains all of the electrical isolation and capacitive coupling of the early material increasing its thermal conductivity. The higher power handling results in a 20% reduction in thermal impedance.

VERTICAL ATTACH SURROUND TECHNIQUE U.S. Patent (Patent Pending)

Rockford’s proprietary surround technique, VAST, provides up to a 25% increase in the speakers effective radiating cone area without complicated installation issues. This design alters the typical design and manufacturing technique by eliminating the large flat glue surface area (the landing) which allows the surround to be shifted for increased cone area. In turn, both nominal efficiency and maximum output capabilities are dramatically improved.

FLEX FIT The slot mounted frame pattern of the Flex Fit basket utilizes slots (where feasible) instead of single screw sized holes. This allows slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

SELECTABLE WOOFER IMPEDANCE FUSED TERMINATION Removing and inverting the center plug allows nominal impedance of voice coils to quickly be configured in a Series or Parallel wiring configuration. This removable impedance selection jumper also provides fused protection in severe overload conditions.

INDUCTIVE DAMPING HEAT SINK Secures directly to the top of magnet structure to improve system efficiency by reducing both distortion and back EMF (Electo-magnetic force). Also radiates heat to reduce voice coil temperature.

CEA-2031 Power handling on Rockford Fosgate speakers conform to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means your speaker has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling that over time can damage voice coils.

VERTICAL ATTACH SURROUND TECHNIQUE U.S. Patent (Patent Pending)

Rockford’s proprietary surround technique, VAST, provides up to a 25% increase in the speakers effective radiating cone area without complicated installation issues. This design alters the typical design and manufacturing technique by eliminating the large flat glue surface area (the landing) which allows the surround to be shifted for increased cone area. In turn, both nominal efficiency and maximum output capabilities are dramatically improved.

FLEX FIT The slot mounted frame pattern of the Flex Fit basket utilizes slots (where feasible) instead of single screw sized holes. This allows slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

RF LINK Rockford’s proprietary RF Link is a bus-power component connection system enabling integration and control of all RF Link equipped products. The use of this systems allows for the expansion of auxiliary controls and managed system turn on.

DISCREET DUAL CLAMP Rockford’s proprietary tweeter mounting design provides concentric clamping pressure around the perimeter of the mounting hole, utilizing a single center screw. This applies balanced pressure to both faces of the mounting surface. From there, the tweeter simply snaps into place and is finished with a snap on trim ring.

INDUCTIVE DAMPING HEAT SINK Secures directly to the top of magnet structure to improve system efficiency by reducing both distortion and back EMF (Electo-magnetic force). Also radiates heat to reduce voice coil temperature.

INTEGRATED CONCEALED CROSSOVER The Integrated Concealed Crossover hides the crossover inside the basket, creating a cleaner look and easier installation.

When Rockford Fosgate set out to design the T3 component we had 2 goals in mind – Outstanding audio performance and high power handling. The combination of an ultra strong die cast basket and the LCPF Cone results in a very high strength driver that is resistant to temperature changes and exhibits outstanding tonal accuracy because the LCPF has excellent damping characteristics to resist vibration. In order to achieve greater power handling, better efficiency, and to avoid distortion the crossover network is built with Air-Core Inductors and 5% tolerance capacitors. Finally, the T3 can be installed easily in most vehicles because of the flex-fit basket, the on/off axis switch, and the flexible tweeter attenuation. Audition this component set and you’ll hear that the T3 more than exceeds expectations.

VERTICAL ATTACH SURROUND TECHNIQUE U.S. Patent (Patent Pending)

Rockford’s proprietary surround technique,VAST, provides up to a 25% increase in the speakers effective radiating cone area without complicated installation issues. This design alters the typical design and manufacturing technique by eliminating the large flat glue surface area (the landing) which allows the surround to be shifted for increased cone area. In turn, both nominal efficiency and maximum output capabilities are dramatically improved.

FLEX FIT The slot mounted frame pattern of the Flex Fit basket utilizes slots (where feasible) instead of single screw sized holes. This allows slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

INTEGRATED CONCEALED CROSSOVER The Integrated Concealed Crossover hides the crossover inside the basket, creating a cleaner look and easier installation.
