Our God, Our Help in Ages Past ST. ANNE

Thomas Bara

Tony Sundermeier

+Prayer of Confession (In Unison) Lauren Ghighi Merciful God, We admit that we have trusted our own inventions more than your Spirit. We have built monuments to ourselves instead of offerings of praise to you. We have used our tools to grasp control rather than to serve your will. We confess our fear of the future, imagining endings of our own making, and forgetting the hope you have promised of a new creation. Forgive us, O Lord. Renew our hearts and minds, that technology might serve compassion, knowledge might be guided by wisdom, and power might be shaped by love. Make us partners in your new creation, where death is no more and you dwell with your people forever. Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen. (Time of Silent Confession)

+Assurance of Pardon

One: Hear the Good News from Revelation: “See, the home of God is among mortals. God will dwell with them; they will be their peoples, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.” Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and made new!

One: The old has passed away.

All: Behold, all things are becoming new! Alleluia! Amen!

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

One: The Lord be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them up to the Lord.

One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Words of Institution Communion

Closing Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

The Future: AI Apocalypse or Eschatological Hope?

+Affirmation of Faith (The Apostles’ Creed)

Ben Fletcher I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Offertory Anthem

Sing, My Soul, His Wondrous Love Ned Rorem

Sing, my soul, his wondrous love, Who, from yon bright throne above, Ever watchful o’er our race, Still to man extends His grace.

Heav’n and earth by Him were made, All is by His scepter sway’d, What are we that He should show

So much love to us below?

+Offertory Response #607 (Lyrics from #606)

Doxology – old hundredth

+Prayer of Dedication

+Hymn

God, the merciful and good, Bought us with the Savior’s blood, And, to make our safety sure, Guides us by His spirit pure.

Sing, my soul, adore His name; Let His glory be thy theme:

Praise Him till He calle thee home,

Trust His love for all to come.

In Christ Alone K. Getty, K. Getty, & S. Townsend

In Christ alone, my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This Cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My Comforter, my All in All

Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh

Fullness of God in helpless babe

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones He came to save ‘Til on that cross as Jesus died

The wrath of God was satisfied

For every sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

+Charge and Benediction

+Choral Benediction

There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious Day

Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death

This is the power of Christ in me

From life’s first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

More Love to Thee, O Christ William Doane
