I have been a fisherman since I was 14, so for 53 years. My grandfather was already a fisherman, and so was my father. I followed his steps and my children have followed mine. When I have to go out to the sea I get up at 4.30 a.m. On a normal day, if everything goes well, we return to land at 3.00 p.m. and arrive at the port at 5.00 p.m. These days, young people don’t want to engage in fishing, the schedules are very hard. Although you can earn a good living, young people don’t want to get up at 4 in the morning. A good fisherman is made over the years, with experience. Each day you learn something new. You have to respect the sea. But fear, never. I like everything about my profession. Nowadays there is a lot of technology and computers; everything is very controlled. When I started, we guided ourselves with our eyes. We took lighthouses, mountains, etc. as references. Everything was more intuitive; man had more influence than machines. With ours nets we are fishing everything: boats, yachts, even Civil War aircraft, and a few years ago, even a corpse of a missing person. We have also caught several sharks of 400 to 500 kilos each. So far we caught eight this year. As for plastics, you can tell that people are more conscious about that.

Ich bin Fischer, seit ich 14 Jahre alt bin, das heißt seit 53 Jahren. Bereits mein Großvater war Fischer und mein Vater auch. Ich bin in seine Fußstapfen getreten und ebenso sind auch meine Kinder meinem Vorbild gefolgt. Wenn ich in See steche, stehe ich um 4:30 Uhr auf. An einem normalen Tag, wenn alles gut geht, kehren wir um 15:00 Uhr zurück und sind um 17:00 Uhr im Hafen. Heutzutage wollen junge Menschen nicht als Fischer tätig sein, die Arbeitszeiten sind sehr schwierig. Obwohl man gut verdient, möchten junge Leute morgens nicht um 4:00 Uhr aufstehen. Ein guter Fischer wird man erst im Laufe der Zeit, mit Erfahrung. Jeden Tag lernt man etwas Neues. Vor dem Meer muss man Respekt haben. Aber Angst – niemals. Ich mag alles an meinem Beruf. Heutzutage gibt es viel Technologie und Computer, alles ist sehr kontrolliert. Als ich anfing, haben wir uns mit dem Blick orientiert und Leuchttürme und Berge als Anhaltspunkte genommen. Alles war intuitiver, der Mensch hatte mehr Einfluss als Maschinen. Mit den Netzen haben wir schon alles Mögliche gefischt: Boote, Yachten, selbst Flugzeuge aus dem Bürgerkrieg und vor einigen Jahren sogar die Leiche eines vermissten

Soy pescador desde que tenía 14 años, es decir, hace 53. Mi abuelo ya era pescador, y también lo fue mi padre. Yo seguí sus pasos y mis hijos han seguido los míos. Cuando tengo que salir al mar me levanto a las 4:30 h. En un día normal, si todo va bien, emprendemos el regreso a tierra sobre las 15 h y llegamos a puerto a las 17 h. Hoy en día la gente joven no quiere dedicarse a la pesca, son horarios muy duros. Aunque puedas ganarte bien la vida, los jóvenes no quieren levantarse a las 4 h de la mañana. Un buen pescador se va haciendo con los años, con la experiencia. Vas aprendiendo del día a día. Al mar hay que tenerle respeto. Pero miedo, nunca. De mi profesión me gusta todo. Hoy en día hay mucha tecnología, ordenadores, todo está muy controlado. Cuando empecé nos guiábamos con la vista, tomábamos como referencias los faros, las montañas, etc. Todo era más intuitivo, influía más el hombre que las máquinas. Con las redes hemos cogido de todo: barcas, yates e incluso aviones de la Guerra Civil. Y hasta un cadáver, hace unos años, de una persona que estaba desparecida. También hemos cogido bastantes tiburones de entre 400 y 500 kilos. En lo que llevamos de año hemos

Menschen. Wir haben auch mehrere 400 bis 500 kg schwere Haie gefangen, dieses Jahr bis jetzt schon acht. Was Plastikmüll angeht, kann man feststellen, dass das Bewusstsein der Menschen gestiegen ist. Seit vier oder fünf Jahren finden wir nicht mehr so viel Müll wie früher. Wenn ich zurückdenke, war meine Kindheit in Santanyí eigentlich ganz normal. Wenn ein Auto vorbeifuhr, liefen wir als Kinder auf die Straße, um es zu sehen; schließlich kam das nur einmal in der Woche vor. Ansonsten hatten wir viel Freude daran, Fußball zu spielen, durch die Straßen der Ortschaft zu rennen, etc. Tage, an denen ich nicht fischen gehe, vermisse ich es. Ich bin sehr glücklich auf dem Meer. Ich fühle mich frei, dort gibt es keine Ampeln [...]. Mallorca ist eine wunderbare Insel zum Leben, es gibt kaum störende Dinge. Alle, die herkommen, lieben sie. Als ich mit meiner Frau verreiste, vermissten wir sofort unser Zuhause.

The bad moments can be overcome by always looking forward. Probably the world would be a better place if people looked a little more for others, and not only out of selfinterest. 14

Meiner Meinung nach muss man zuverlässig sein. Das Wort muss so viel wert sein wie eine Unterschrift. Es ist auch wichtig, konsequent zu sein und das zu machen, was man sagt. Man muss immer konsequent handeln. Ich denke, ich bin ein ganz normaler Mensch – fröhlich, nicht neidisch. Ich lebe ein ruhiges Leben und wünsche anderen Menschen Gutes. Das Beste im Leben ist es, den Alltag, die Familie, die Enkelkinder zu genießen. Diese Dinge sind unbezahlbar. Schlechte Zeiten überwindet man, indem man immer nach vorn schaut. Wahrscheinlich wäre die Welt ein besserer Ort, wenn jeder ein bisschen mehr auf andere Menschen achten würde und das nicht aus Eigennutz.

Por lo demás nos entreteníamos jugando al futbol, corriendo por las calles del pueblo, etc. Los días que no salgo a pescar lo echo de menos. Soy muy feliz en medio del mar. Me siento libre, no hay semáforos [...]. Mallorca es una isla maravillosa para vivir, tiene pocas cosas por despreciar, es muy bonita, el que viene aquí se engancha. Cuando salimos de viaje con mi mujer, enseguida añoramos regresar a casa. Considero que una persona tiene que ser formal. La palabra tiene que valer tanto como una firma. También es importante mantenerte firme con lo que dices y con lo que haces. Ser siempre consecuentes con nuestros actos. Me considero una persona normal y corriente, alegre, no tengo envidias, vivo tranquilo y deseo el bien a los demás. Lo mejor de la vida es poder disfrutar del día a día, la familia, los nietos, esas cosas que no se pagan con dinero. Los malos momentos se superan mirando siempre hacia adelante. Probablemente el mundo sería un lugar mejor si las personas miraran un poco más por los demás, y no solo por lo que le conviene a uno.

What fills me most in my everyday life is the daily interaction with the pupils and teachers of our Ágora school in Portals Nous. Every morning f rom 8.30 to 9.15 a.m. I walk through the school to say good morning to everyone. As a child I liked mathematics, but I was not sure what I wanted to be later. I studied computer engineering. For 17 years I was working in this area at the University of the Balearic Islands until one day I was offered the opportunity to run the Lluís Vives school in Palma. For me, this was an unexpected challenge, and I accepted it. That is how I discovered my true vocation.

Was mich am meisten ausfüllt, ist der tägliche Umgang mit den Schülern und Lehrern unserer Schule Ágora in Portals Nous. Jeden Morgen gehe ich von 8:30 bis 9:15 Uhr durch die Einrichtung, um alle zu begrüßen. Als Kind habe ich gern Mathematik gemacht, aber ich war mir nicht sicher, was ich später werden wollte. Ich habe Computertechnik studiert. 17 Jahre lang war ich in diesem Bereich an der Universität der Balearen tätig, bis sich eines Tages die Möglichkeit bot, die Lluís Vives-Schule in Palma zu leiten. Für mich war das eine unerwartete Herausforderung, der ich mich stellte. Und so habe ich meine wahre Berufung entdeckt.

I have always felt very proud to be from Mallorca. The quality of life is very high, here I am happy with my family, my wife and my two daughters. My passion is the sea, I love sailing. And also travelling. With the family we make three or four trips a year. We like to discover new places, but we are always happy to return to our home.

Ich war schon immer sehr stolz darauf, aus Mallorca zu sein. Die Lebensqualität ist sehr hoch. Hier bin ich mit meiner Familie, meiner Frau und meinen beiden Töchtern, glücklich. Lo que más me llena de mi día a día es el trato diario con los alumnos y los profesores del colegio Ágora, en Portals Nous, del cual soy director. Cada mañana, de 8:30 h a 9:15 h, paso por las clases del centro a dar los buenos días a todos. De niño me gustaban las matemáticas, pero no tenía muy claro qué quería ser de mayor. Mi formación es de ingeniero en informática. Estuve trabajando en este sector dentro de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares durante 17 años. Hasta que un día me ofrecieron la oportunidad de dirigir el colegio Lluís Vives, de Palma. Para mí fue un reto inesperado, y lo acepté. Así fue como descubrí mi verdadera vocación. Siempre me he sentido muy orgulloso de ser de Mallorca. La calidad de vida es muy alta, aquí soy feliz con mi familia, mi mujer y mis dos hijas. Mi pasión es el mar, me encanta navegar. Y también me gusta mucho viajar. Con la familia hacemos tres o cuatro viajes al año, nos gusta descubrir nuevos lugares en el mundo. Pero siempre estamos encantados de regresar a nuestro hogar.

When I was at the university, somebody once gave me a good advice: “Always be well-prepared”. With preparation, things are more likely to succeed. Always try to be one step ahead, don’t wait for things to happen. Try to anticipate them, and then go with the flow.

Jemand aus meiner Studienzeit hat mir einmal einen guten Rat gegeben: „Sei immer gut vorbereitet“. Mit Vorbereitung ist es wahrscheinlicher, dass die Dinge gelingen. Man sollte immer versuchen, einen Schritt voraus zu sein, und nicht darauf warten, dass etwas passiert. Man sollte versuchen, Dinge vorauszusehen, um dann besser damit umzugehen.

Each year I set myself different goals, on a personal and professional level, as well as in sports. I like athletics a lot and, even though I’m a bit older every year, I feel fit and young as I keep improving my best times. You have to seize your life. Every day I get up very early, at 5.30 a.m. First, I meditate for half an hour. For me, meditation is very important and it allows me to start the day with serenity, seeing things in a different way. Then I do some sports, and at 7.45 a.m. I’m already at school. The best thing in life is to live and enjoy. Life is wonderful. I think the universe is always helping me. I never want to regret and say “what a pity that I didn’t do that!”, or “what a pity that I didn’t dare!”.

Intentar ir siempre un paso por delante, no esperar a que las cosas sucedan, intentar preverlas, y luego fluir con ellas. Soy una persona que a lo largo del año me voy marcando diferentes objetivos, a nivel personal, profesional y deportivo. Me gusta mucho el atletismo y aunque cada año que pasa soy un poco más viejo, como mejoro mis marcas personales, me encuentro muy bien físicamente y me hace sentir más joven.

Für mich ist Meditation sehr wichtig, da ich dadurch meinen Tag mit Gelassenheit beginne und die Dinge anders betrachte. Danach mache ich etwas Sport und bin um 7:45 Uhr schon in der Schule. Das Beste im Leben ist zu leben und zu genießen. Das Leben ist wunderbar. Ich glaube, das sich im Universum stets alles fügt, um mir zu helfen. Ich möchte nicht irgendwann etwas bereuen und sagen: „Wie schade, dass ich das nicht getan habe“ oder „wie schade, dass ich mich nicht getraut habe“.

Intento ser una persona muy positiva. Pienso que creer es crear. Y que por tanto nuestras creencias nos ayudan a conseguir nuestras metas. Eso es lo que trato de transmitirles a los alumnos: que nunca nadie les diga que no son capaces de hacer algo.

La vida hay que aprovecharla. Me levanto cada día muy pronto, a las 5:30 h. Lo primero que hago es dedicar media hora a meditar. Para mí la meditación es muy importante, me permite empezar el día con serenidad, ver las cosas de diferente forma. Luego hago un poco de deporte, y a las 7:45 h ya estoy en el colegio. Lo mejor de la vida es vivir y disfrutar. La vida es maravillosa. Yo pienso que el universo está continuamente confabulando para ayudarme. No quiero que cuando llegue mi último momento de vida tenga que lamentarme y decir “¡qué pena que no hice aquello!”, o “¡qué pena que no me arriesgué más!”.

I was born in Manacor, but I work as a vendor in the traditional market in Santanyí. Here I am very happy, I like the pleasant atmosphere and laugh with my colleagues and customers. Selling is our family tradition that began with my parents and continues with us and our children. Although there are always ups and downs, I always say that you have to take your life with a smile.

Con una mirada o con un gesto ya sé lo que necesitan, qué quieren comprar. De niña siempre acudí a los mercados con mis padres. También estudié hostelería y psicología. A los 15 años empecé a trabajar en un hotel, pero finalmente decidí seguir en el mercado. Este trabajo me da libertad, no estoy encerrada, puedo disponer mucho mejor de mi tiempo. After my military service, I was interested in becoming a police officer. I spent two summers working temporarily with the police until I presented myself to the selection process in 1986. Since then, I have been working permanently as a policeman. At first, everything was a mystery to me. I wondered what it would be like to work as a policeman in my home village Pollensa. I liked the idea of doing something useful and serve my community, just helping in any way. As a child I didn’t want to be a policeman, but over time it has become my vocation. I have been doing this job for 33 years, and I am happy with my choice. Pollensa is a quiet village, where my childhood friends live. If my friends look at me differently for being a policeman? No, quite the opposite. Although I must admit that at the beginning, 33 years ago, it was a bit strange to walk in the streets dressed in uniform. We have everything in Mallorca and everything is beautiful: mountains, beaches, sun, nature. I suppose, everyone likes something different. I like to travel, especially to discover other regions of Spain, but without any doubt I like Mallorca the most.

Nach meinem Wehrdienst interessierte ich mich dafür, Polizist zu werden. Ich war dann zwei Sommer vorübergehend bei der Polizei beschäftigt, bis ich mich 1986 dem Auswahlverfahren stellte. Seither bin ich dort fest angestellt. Zu Beginn war mir alles rätselhaft. Ich fragte mich, wie es wäre, als Polizist in meiner eigenen Gemeinde Pollensa zu arbeiten. Ich mochte die Vorstellung, etwas zu tun, der Gemeinschaft nützlich zu sein und auf irgendeine Art zu helfen. Als Kind hatte ich nicht vor, Polizist zu werden, aber im Laufe der Zeit ist es zu meiner Berufung geworden. Seit 33 Jahren gehe ich dieser Arbeit nach und bin froh, diesen Weg gegangen zu sein. Pollensa ist ein ruhiger Ort, in dem meine Freunde aus Kindheitstagen leben. Ob mich meine Freunde anders sehen, weil ich Polizist bin? Nein, ganz im Gegenteil, obwohl ich auch zugeben muss, dass es am Anfang vor 33 Jahren etwas komisch war, in Dienstkleidung durch die Straßen zu gehen. Wir haben alles auf Mallorca und alles ist wunderschön: Berge, Strände, Sonne, Natur. Ich denke, dass jeder etwas anderes lieber mag. Ich reise gern, vor allem in andere Regionen Spaniens, aber ohne Zweifel mag ich Mallorca am meisten.

Cuando terminé de hacer el servicio militar, me llamó la atención eso de ser policía. Estuve dos veranos en prácticas y, cuando en 1986 se abrieron unas oposiciones, me presenté y entré en el Cuerpo de manera fija. Al principio para mí todo era un enigma. Me hacía preguntas sobre cómo sería trabajar como policía en mi propio pueblo, Pollensa. Pero me tiraba mucho la idea de dar un servicio y ser útil a mi comunidad, ayudar de alguna manera. De pequeño no tenía pensado ser policía. Pero reconozco que con el tiempo se ha convertido en una vocación. Llevo 33 años haciendo este trabajo y estoy contento de haberlo elegido. Pollensa es un pueblo tranquilo, un pueblo de amigos desde la infancia. ¿Si mis amigos me miran diferente por ser policía? No, todo lo contrario. Aunque debo reconocer que al principio, hace 33 años, se me hacía un poco raro ir vestido por las calles de mi pueblo con el traje oficial. En Mallorca tenemos de todo y todo es bonito: montañas, playas, sol, naturaleza. Imagino que a cada uno le tira lo suyo. Me gusta viajar, sobre todo descubrir otras regiones de España. Pero, sin ninguna duda, me quedo con Mallorca.

I consider myself a calm, sensible and diplomatic person, both privately and professionally. At work, I am known for resolving conflicts. I know how to listen and find the best solution. A good policeman must be willing to do everything to help the people in his community. I think that everything that is arranged in a good way, without going to court, is a good and the best solution.

Ich halte mich für eine recht ruhige, vernünftige und diplomatische Person, sowohl privat als auch beruflich. Bei der Arbeit bin ich dafür bekannt, Konflikte zu lösen. Ich kann gut zuhören und die beste Lösung finden. Ein guter Polizist muss bereit sein, alles zu tun, um den Menschen zu helfen. Ich denke, dass alles, was man untereinander klärt und ohne vor ein Gericht zu gehen, eine gute Lösung ist, der beste Weg.

On a personal level I try to stay true to myself and to know what I want, always following the same line. If you decide to do something, then you should go for it and not constantly change your mind. We have to be consistent. And of course we make mistakes, because we are human, but we have to take responsibility for our actions.

Debemos ser consecuentes. Y claro que nos podemos equivocar, porque somos humanos. Pero debemos ser responsables de nuestros actos. A nivel profesional, valoro mucho el buen ambiente que tenemos entre los compañeros.

Me considero una persona bastante tranquila, bastante sensata, dialogante tanto en ámbito personal como profesional. En el trabajo tengo fama de resolver conflictos entre dos personas, sé escuchar y buscar la mejor solución, soy muy dialogante. Un buen policía debe estar dispuesto a hacer de todo para ayudar a las personas que viven en su comunidad. Pienso que todo lo que se pueda arreglar de buena manera, sin llegar a presentar denuncia en el juzgado, es un buen arreglo, la mejor solución.

A nivel particular, me da felicidad ver a mi familia contenta. Lo más importante es intentar ser feliz, no ir frustrado por la vida. Tratar de ayudar a la gente en todo lo que se pueda. Pero sobre todo estar contento con uno mismo y con lo que hace. Con un clima de paz, el mundo sin duda iría mejor. Es difícil, pues hay muchos intereses sociales y económicos creados. Ojalá un día lleguemos a ver esa paz en todos los rincones de nuestro planeta.

I have been working as a waiter in the Bar Bosch for 43 years. I was born in Inca, but I live in Palma. I came to this job thanks to my uncle who worked here making sandwiches. Since I wanted to buy a bicycle back then, I needed a job to earn money and my uncle helped me in. “Tomorrow you start,” he told me. At this time I was still going to school. So with 13 years old I started working eight hours a day in the bar.

Seit 43 Jahren bin ich Kellner in der Bar Bosch. Ich bin in Inca geboren, lebe aber in Palma. Ich kam zu diesem Job dank meines Onkels, der hier in der Bar Sandwiches zubereitete. Como yo en aquella época quería comprarme una bicicleta, necesitaba un trabajo con el que ganar dinero. Entonces mi tío me ayudó a entrar. “Mañana empiezas”, me dijo. A la vez estudiaba, iba al colegio. Así que con 13 años empecé a trabajar ocho horas al día en el bar.

My parents had nine children, five boys and four girls. I had a very nice childhood and youth on the island. I know it very well. I like everything about Mallorca: the mountains, the beach, Sóller, Valldemossa, these wonderful villages in the Tramuntana mountains. It is a fabulous place.

Meine Eltern hatten neun Kinder, fünf Jungs und vier Mädchen. Ich hatte eine sehr schöne Kindheit und Jugend auf der Insel. Ich kenne sie sehr gut. Ich mag alles an Mallorca: die Berge, den Strand, Sóller, Valldemossa, die wunderschönen Dörfer im Tramuntana-Gebirge. Es ist ein wunderbarer Ort.

Mis padres tuvieron nueve hijos, cinco niños y cuatro niñas. Tuve una infancia y juventud muy bonita en la isla. La conozco muy bien. Me gusta todo de Mallorca: la montaña, la playa, Sóller, Valldemossa, estos pueblos tan maravillosos que tenemos en la Sierra de Tramuntana. Es un lugar maravilloso.

As a child I wanted to be a lot: doctor, pilot, lawyer [...], but, of course, we were nine siblings. My father worked 16 hours a day. He worked eight hours for the police and eight as a sculptor. I worked with him as a sculptor for a year. I worked in the bar for eight hours and then six with him. I also worked in construction with my uncle. I just wanted to give him a hand and not take any money for it.

Als Kind wollte ich vieles sein: Arzt, Pilot, Anwalt [...], aber wir waren ja neun Geschwister. Mein Vater arbeitete 16 Stunden am Tag. Er arbeitete acht Stunden bei der Polizei und acht als Bildhauer. Ich habe ein Jahr lang mit ihm als Bildhauer gearbeitet. Ich arbeitete erst acht Stunden in der Bar und dann noch sechs mit ihm. Ich habe auch auf dem Bau mit meinem Onkel gearbeitet. Ich wollte ihm nur zur Hand gehen und kein Geld dafür nehmen.

De pequeño quería ser muchas cosas: médico, piloto, abogado [...]. Pero, claro, nosotros éramos nueve hermanos. Mi padre trabajaba 16 horas al día. Hacía ocho de Policía Municipal y ocho como escultor. Trabajé de escultor con él durante un año. Hacía mis horas en el bar y luego seis más con él. También trabajé en la construcción con mi tío como maestro de obra. Iba a echarle una mano, para ayudarle, no para sacar dinero ni nada.

Nowadays, young people have everything and do what they want without appreciating it. Before, if we did not have money, we had fun playing with a broom. I think that young people are lacking commitment to work and I have the feeling that they don’t value it enough. All kinds of people come to the Bar Bosch, many tourists and also many residents of Palma and Mallorca. Once, the famous Mallorcan actor Xesc Forteza came to dine, and he made jokes. Also artists and football players were here. It makes me happy to have a job and to see my children and my grandson. I think the best thing in life is to have children. I have two. Junge Menschen haben heutzutage alles und tun, was sie wollen, ohne es zu würdigen. Wenn wir früher kein Geld hatten, haben wir auch mit einem Besen gespielt. Ich finde, dass es jungen Menschen in Bezug auf Arbeit an Engagement mangelt, und habe das Gefühl, dass sie es nicht genug schätzen.

Al Bar Bosch viene toda clase de gente, muchos turistas, y también muchos residentes de Palma y de Mallorca. Recuerdo cuando venía el famoso actor mallorquín Xesc Forteza, cenaba con nosotros, hacía chistes. También venían artistas y jugadores de fútbol.

In die Bar Bosch kommen die unterschiedlichsten Menschen, viele Touristen und auch viele Einwohner von Palma und Mallorca. Einmal kam der berühmte mallorquinische Schauspieler Xesc Forteza. Er aß hier zu Abend und machte Witze. Es kamen auch schon Künstler und Fußballer. Es macht mich glücklich, einen Job zu haben und meine Kinder und meinen Enkel zu sehen. Ich glaube, das Beste im Leben ist, Kinder zu haben. Ich habe zwei. Mein Sohn ist 25 und meine Tochter 26. Beide arbeiten, meine Tochter am Flughafen. Sie ist sehr gebildet und lernt Deutsch. Mein Enkel heißt Marcos und wird bald vier. Wir verstehen uns sehr gut. Nach der Arbeit gehe ich gern mit meiner Frau essen und meine Familie besuchen. Die Welt wäre sicher viel besser, wenn wir alle lernen würden, miteinander auszukommen. Mit Arbeit für alle. Ich habe das Gefühl, je mehr die Menschen haben, desto mehr wollen sie, ohne Rücksicht auf andere. Und das ist nicht richtig.

Mi padre me dio dos buenos consejos: trabajar y ser honrado. Trabajador soy, desde luego, y buena persona también. Pero los tiempos han cambiado. Los jóvenes ahora tienen de todo y hacen lo que quieren, sin valorarlo. Antes, si no teníamos dinero, nos divertíamos jugando hasta con una escoba. Ahora los chicos entran a trabajar y es como si nada. Noto falta de compromiso con el trabajo, me da la sensación que no lo valoran lo suficiente.

Me hace feliz tener trabajo, ver a mis hijos y a mi nieto. Creo que lo mejor de la vida es tener hijos. Tengo dos: uno de 25 y una de 26. Los dos trabajan. La niña en el aeropuerto. Es muy educada, estudia alemán. Mi nieto se llama Marcos. Dentro de poco cumplirá cuatro años. Tenemos una relación muy bonita. Cuando salgo del trabajo, me gusta ir a comer con mi mujer. Y también a visitar a mi familia. Estoy seguro de que el mundo sería mucho mejor si todos aprendiéramos a llevarnos bien. Con trabajo para todos. Siento que cuanto la gente más tiene, más quiere, sin importar pisar a los demás. Y eso no está bien.

He told me that it was a wonderful place, which I was able to convince myself upon our arrival. I am a specialist in general medicine. I also work in the Juaneda Clinic helping many tourists. What I like most about my work is the contact to others and being able to help the patients. I speak English and can communicate in Swedish, German, French and Italian. I learned these languages during my work here in 35 years through the contact with the patients. For me life is enjoying every moment, appreciating what you have and being positive. In my profession, unfortunately, I also face the issue of illness and death. That is why I think you have to seize every moment, give the most of yourself and try to do good. Ich habe meinen Mann während meines Medizinstudiums an der Facultad Complutense in Madrid kennengelernt. Ich bin aus Madrid und er kommt aus Mallorca. Nach dem Studium zogen wir auf die Insel. Er sagte mir, dass sie ein wunderbarer Ort sei, wovon ich mich bei unserer Ankunft überzeugen konnte. Ich bin Fachärztin für Allgemeinmedizin. Ich arbeite auch in der Klinik Juaneda, wo ich vielen Touristen helfe. Was mir an meiner Arbeit am besten gefällt, ist der Kontakt zu anderen Menschen und dass ich den Patienten helfen kann. Ich spreche Englisch und kann mich auf Schwedisch, Deutsch, Französisch und Italienisch verständigen. Diese Sprachen habe ich in 35 Jahren durch meine Arbeit hier mit den Patienten gelernt. Me dijo que era un lugar maravilloso. Algo que pude descubrir desde el primer momento en que llegamos. Soy médica especializada en medicina general. También trabajo en un centro de la Clínica Juaneda, donde atiendo a muchos turistas. Lo que más me gusta de mi trabajo es el contacto humano, poder ayudar a los pacientes. Hablo inglés y me entiendo en sueco, en alemán, en francés y en italiano. Todos estos idiomas los he ido aprendiendo durante los 35 años que llevo ejerciendo en este lugar, a través del contacto con los pacientes. Para mí la vida es disfrutar de cada momento, valorar lo que tienes y ser positivo ante las circunstancias. En mi profesión veo, por desgracia, cantidad de personas que se van, gente con enfermedades. Por eso pienso que hay que aprovechar cada instante y dar lo máximo de ti a los demás, intentar ser bueno. The new technologies are very good, but while I look at the computer screen I’m not looking at the patient. And you have to look at the patient’s eyes, feel, hear [...]. What I like the most about Mallorca is the sea and the mountains. I lived in Sóller for 20 years, where we had a boat and a quiet life. I believe that in life you have to go out and travel to appreciate what you have.

In general, I see young people positively. I see them with a positive attitude, looking forward and ready to fight for what they want. Only that you don’t see them reading a lot is not so good. I believe that the family has to maintain values such as love and respect. Sometimes in the consultation hours I see children doing what they want and their parents don’t say anything. If a child sees you reading, it will read; if you are caring, the child will be; if a child feels love, it will also give love. Respect is very important to me. Quite often I see disrespect and little tolerance among people. We believe that we are best and don’t listen to others. Everyone should live according to their own philosophy of life. Having this clear is very important.

Deshalb denke ich, dass man jeden Moment nutzen und seine beste Seite zeigen muss. Man sollte versuchen, Gutes zu tun. Als ich hier zu arbeiten angefangen habe, sagte mir der heutige Präsident des Unternehmens: „Behandele andere Menschen stets so, wie du und deine Familie behandelt werden möchtet”. Das ist eine gute Lebensphilosophie. Wenn man mit sich selbst zufrieden ist, strahlt man das auch aus.

De Mallorca lo que más me gusta es el mar y la montaña. He vivido durante 20 años en Sóller, allí teníamos una barca, llevábamos un estilo de vida tranquilo... Yo creo que en la vida has de salir, viajar, para valorar luego lo que tienes.

An Mallorca mag ich am meisten das Meer und die Berge. Ich habe 20 Jahre in Sóller gelebt. Dort hatten wir ein Boot und ein ruhiges Leben. Ich glaube, im Leben muss man ausgehen und reisen, um zu schätzen, was man hat.

Por lo general tengo una visión positiva de los jóvenes, los veo con actitud positiva, mirando hacia adelante, con ganas de luchar y conseguir cosas. Lo único menos bueno es que no se les ve leer demasiado.

Im Allgemeinen sehe ich junge Menschen positiv. Ich sehe sie mit einer positiven Einstellung. Sie schauen nach vorn und sind bereit, für Dinge zu kämpfen. Nur, dass man sie nicht viel lesen sieht, ist nicht so gut. Ich glaube, dass die Familie Werte aufrechterhalten muss, welche verloren gehen, wie Liebe und Respekt. Manchmal sehe ich Kinder in der Sprechstunde, die tun, was sie wollen, und ihre Eltern sagen nichts. Wenn ein Kind Sie lesen sieht, wird es lesen. Wenn Sie liebevoll sind, wird das Kind es auch sein. Wenn das Kind Liebe empfindet, wird es auch lieben. Respekt ist für mich sehr wichtig. Ziemlich oft beobachte ich Respektlosigkeit und wenig Toleranz unter den Menschen. Wir glauben, dass wir die Besten sind und hören nicht auf andere. Jeder sollte nach seiner eigenen Lebensphilosophie leben. Und es ist wichtig, dass das jeder versteht.

Las nuevas tecnologías están muy bien. Pero mientras miro la pantalla del ordenador no estoy mirando al paciente. Y hay que mirar a los ojos del paciente, sentirlo, escucharlo [...].

Creo que la familia tendría que mantener valores que se van perdiendo, de amor, de respeto. A veces veo en la consulta a niños que hacen lo que quieren y sus padres no les dicen nada. Si el niño ve que tú lees, el niño leerá; si tú eres cariñoso, el niño lo será; si el niño siente amor, el también lo dará. Para mí el respeto es algo muy importante. Veo bastante falta de respeto, poca tolerancia entre las personas. Creemos que lo nuestro es siempre lo mejor y no escuchamos a los demás. Deja que yo viva con mi filosofía, y tú con la tuya. Tener esto claro es muy importante.

Durante casi toda mi vida profesional he sido chófer, me he dedicado a conducir camiones durante 20 años haciendo repartos, y luego otros 10 conduciendo un camión de obra, tipo tráiler o de 10 ruedas. En la actualidad me dedico a trabajar en el campo, en las bodegas Castell Miquel de Alaró. Aquí me encargo de podar las viñas, espulgar y, en general, a todo tipo de trabajos manuales propios del campo. Nací en Llubí y siempre me ha gustado la tierra, la vida de campo. Cuando eres de un pueblo como el mío amas la tierra, te sientes agradecido por todo lo que ella te da. Mi actual profesión es sinónimo de una calidad de vida absoluta, tranquila, sin estrés. higher education, so my wish remained unfulfilled. I wanted to be a teacher because I liked being with people and children, I liked the hustle and bustle. And even now, at my age, I still like it! My childhood in Llubí was very quiet, a typical country life, helping my family with the daily work already at a very young age and when going to school. I have good memories of my childhood. For me it was a fabulous time. There were no toys. We made them ourselves, we invented them. With a stick and a wire we made a bow and arrows. We had as much fun or more than nowadays. These days there are computers, tablets and video games that leave little room for imagination. I like everything about Mallorca: the coves, the mountains and the villages in the interior. I consider myself a very open person, a good colleague and a very good friend. My friendships already last my whole life. In my daily life I try to do good, to not hurt anyone and to live a calm life. I think the world would be a better place if everyone had work and food. We live on a very big planet. I hope that one day the resources will be welldistributed to all.

war ein guter Schüler und das hätte mir sehr gefallen. Ich denke auch, ich wäre ein guter Lehrer geworden, aber wir konnten uns keine Hochschulbildung leisten, also blieb mein Wunsch unerfüllt. Ich wollte Lehrer werden, weil ich gern mit Menschen und Kindern zusammen war und den Trubel mochte. Und selbst jetzt, in meinem Alter, ist das noch immer so. Meine Kindheit in Llubí war sehr ruhig, ein typisches Leben auf dem Land. Ich half meiner Familie bei allen anfallenden Arbeiten bereits in sehr jungem Alter und auch als ich zur Schule ging. Ich habe gute Erinnerungen an meine Kindheit.

Con un palo y un alambre nos hacíamos un arco y unas flechas, nos divertíamos tanto o más que ahora. Hoy todo son ordenadores, tabletas, juegos de televisión. Hay poco lugar a la imaginación.

I am a driver of an EMAYA dustcart since 2003. My day to day consists of collecting the garbage, in my case glass, with my lorry. What I like most about my job is being free, outside and not in an office. That gives me a great sense of freedom. I started this job because already my parents worked in it. I had a very good childhood, I like to think about it. I grew up in a neighbourhood of Palma, in Sant Jordi, and me and my friends were always outside with our bikes. Back then everything was more relaxed, we spent the whole day playing on the street. I have a 4-year-old daughter and although we live in the same Sant Jordi, where I grew up, things have changed a bit. For example, there are many more cars now. I like my job, but sometimes I am a little stressed. I am separated and in the weeks when my daughter is with me, everything has to go very fast: get up early, get my daughter and me ready, have breakfast, bring her to school, work, shower, eat in a hurry and pick her up from school. We play together all afternoon. If she is not with me, everything is a bit calmer. I see that there is more and more awareness of recycling. The new generations are much

An meinem Beruf gefällt mir am besten, dass ich frei bin, draußen und nicht im Büro arbeite. Das gibt mir ein großes Gefühl der Freiheit. Ich habe mit diesem Job angefangen, weil meine Eltern bereits in diesem Beruf gearbeitet haben. Ich hatte eine sehr gute Kindheit, ich erinnere mich gern daran. Ich bin in einem Viertel von Palma aufgewachsen, in Sant Jordi. Mit Freunden bin ich immer Fahrrad gefahren. Damals war alles entspannter. Wir haben den ganzen Tag auf der Straße gespielt. Ich habe eine vierjährige Tochter und obwohl wir in Sant Jordi leben, wo auch ich aufgewachsen bin, haben sich die Dinge etwas geändert. Es gibt jetzt beispielsweise viel mehr Autos. Ich mag meinen Job, aber manchmal bin ich etwas gestresst. Ich lebe getrennt und in den Wochen, in denen meine Tochter bei mir ist, muss alles sehr schnell gehen: früh aufstehen, die Kleine und mich fertig machen, frühstücken, sie zur Schule bringen, arbeiten, duschen, schnell essen und sie dann wieder von der Schule abholen. Und dann spielen wir den ganzen Nachmittag zusammen. Wenn sie nicht bei mir ist, ist alles etwas ruhiger.

Soy conductora de primera recogedor desde el año 2003 en EMAYA. Mi día a día consiste en montarme en el camión y recoger residuos. En mi caso, yo recojo vidrio. Lo que más me gusta de mi profesión es que estoy libre, que trabajo afuera y no dentro de una oficina. Eso me da una sensación de libertad muy grande. Empecé en este trabajo porque mis padres ya se dedicaban a él. La verdad es que tuve una infancia muy buena, la recuerdo con cariño. Me crié en una barriada de Palma, en Sant Jordi, y siempre estábamos con la bicicleta para arriba y para abajo con los amigos. Entonces todo era más relajado, nos pasábamos el día entero jugando en la calle. Tengo una hija de 4 años. Y aunque vivimos en el mismo Sant Jordi donde yo crecí, las cosas han cambiado un poco. Por ejemplo, ahora hay muchos más coches. Me gusta mi trabajo, pero a veces voy un poco estresada. Estoy separada y, las semanas que estoy con mi hija, todo sucede muy deprisa: despertarnos temprano, arreglarnos la niña y yo, desayuno, llevarla al cole, trabajar, ducharme, comer a toda prisa y luego de vuelta al cole a recogerla, y jugar juntas toda la tarde. La semana que no está conmigo, sí voy un poco más tranquila.

In my free time I love to enjoy the sun and the beach. In Mallorca, we have wonderful beaches, and also the nature. I love living on the island and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I consider myself a good and very cheerful person. I do my work, and I am there for my colleagues. As a mother, I do my best. And as a friend, I always try everything in my power to help. Listen, see and keep my mouth shut. I think this is very important. I believe that everyone knows what they have to do, and that everybody should mind their own business. Everyone must be aware and responsible for their own actions and decisions. Sometimes life is not easy. The experience and circumstances have shown me that it is a learning process, sometimes easier and other times not. That is why we have to try to be okay, to live as calmly as possible and to think well from which point of view we look at things. The world would be better if there wasn’t so much selfishness, if we cared more for others and not only for ourselves. Probably it is the stress that causes us to always think of ourselves first.

Ich kann feststellen, dass das Bewusstsein zum Thema Recycling zunehmend steigt. Die neuen Generationen sind viel sensibler. Recycling ist besser für alle. In meiner Freizeit liebe ich es, die Sonne und den Strand zu genießen. Auf Mallorca haben wir wunderschöne Strände und auch die Natur. Ich liebe es, auf der Insel zu leben und könnte mir nicht vorstellen, woanders zu leben. Ich halte mich für eine gute, sehr fröhliche Person. Ich mache meine Arbeit und bin für meine Kollegen da. Als Mutter gebe ich mein Bestes. Und als Freundin versuche ich stets, alles in meiner Macht Stehende zu

tun, um zu helfen. Hören, sehen und den Mund halten, das finde ich sehr wichtig. Ich denke, dass jeder weiß, was er zu tun hat, und man sich nicht in andere Angelegenheiten einmischen muss. Jeder muss sich seiner Handlungen und Entscheidungen bewusst sein und die Verantwortung dafür übernehmen. Das Leben ist manchmal nicht einfach. Die Erfahrungen und Umstände haben mir gezeigt, dass es ein Lernprozess ist, manchmal leichter und manchmal schwerer. Deshalb sollten wir so gelassen wie möglich leben und gut darüber nachdenken, aus welcher Perspektive wir die Dinge betrachten. Die Welt wäre ein besserer Ort, wenn es nicht so viel Egoismus geben würde und wir uns mehr um andere kümmern würden, nicht nur um uns selbst. Wahrscheinlich ist es der Stress, der uns veranlasst, immer zuerst an uns selbst zu denken.

Cuando tengo tiempo libre me encanta disfrutar del sol y la playa. En Mallorca tenemos unas playas que son una maravilla. También naturaleza. Me encanta vivir en la isla y no podría imaginarme viviendo en otro lugar que no fuera este. Me considero una buena persona, muy risueña. Cumplo con mi trabajo y con mis compañeros. Como madre creo que lo hago lo mejor posible. Y como amiga, siempre que puedo trato de ayudar en todo en lo que está en mi mano. Oír, ver y callar. Creo que esto es muy importante. Considero que cada uno sabe lo que tiene que hacer, y que no hay que meterse en los asuntos de los demás. Cada uno ha de ser consciente y responsable de sus propios actos, del camino que ha decidido seguir. La vida, a veces, no es sencilla. Los años y las circunstancias me han demostrado que es un aprendizaje, a veces más llevadero y otras veces menos. Por eso hemos de procurar estar bien, vivir el día a día con la mayor calma posible, pensar bien el punto de vista con el que observamos las cosas. El mundo sería mejor si no hubiera tanto egoísmo, si miráramos más por los demás y no solo por nosotros mismos. El hecho de ir casi siempre tan estresados hace que, probablemente, las personas miremos primero por nuestra conveniencia.

I have been working as a postman for 11 years. Before that, I was doing several jobs: handling the baggage at the airport, setting up illuminated signs, laying bricks. I have already done a lot of things. The idea of working as a postman came to me as I knew people who worked in this profession. What I like the most is talking to others and interacting with them. This is fun. I also enjoy being outside all day, instead of being in an office. When you have been working in the same area for a while, as in my case in Palmanova, you get to know the neighbours better and better. We take a few minutes to chat, they ask me anything. I grew up in Palma. With my friends, I spent all day playing in the street. Not like nowadays. I think the children spend too much time with tablets, mobile phones and game consoles. I suppose that, since I am from Mallorca, it is normal that I really like my island. The nature is spectacular and there are many activities for each taste. In my free time I like to go to the beach, go to the movies, watch football and do sports. I am a very calm and normal person. I like to make jokes, and I am very cheerful and open to others.

Seit 11 Jahren arbeite ich als Postbote. Davor hatte ich verschiedene Jobs: Gepäckabfertiger am Flughafen, Monteur von Leuchtschildern, Maurer. Ich habe schon viele Dinge gemacht. Die Idee, als Postbote zu arbeiten, kam mir, da ich Leute kannte, die in diesem Beruf tätig waren. Am meisten mag ich, mich mit anderen zu unterhalten und mit ihnen auszutauschen. Das macht mir Spaß. Es ist auch sehr interessant, den ganzen Tag unterwegs zu sein, anstatt in einem Büro zu sitzen. Wenn man eine längere Zeit in demselben Gebiet gearbeitet hat, in meinem Fall in Palmanova, lernt man die Nachbarn immer besser kennen. Wir nehmen uns immer ein paar Minuten zum Plaudern.

Trabajo como cartero desde hace 11 años. Antes estuve realizando varios trabajos: maletero en el aeropuerto, montador de rótulos luminosos, albañil. Me he dedicado a muchas cosas. Me picó el gusanillo de ser cartero por gente que conocía y que trabajaba en esta profesión. Lo que más me gusta es tener la oportunidad de poder hablar con mucha gente, interactuar con ellos. Es divertido. También es muy estimulante poder estar todo el día dando vueltas por la calle, en lugar de estar encerrado en una oficina. Cuando llevas tiempo trabajando en una misma zona, como es mi caso, en Palmanova, llegas a conocer cada vez mejor a los vecinos. When I leave my house, I go to Palmanova, where I work. The first thing we do with our colleagues is to unload the truck and organize the correspondence by zones. We distribute ourselves in sectors and each one of us picks up our packages to start with the distribution. Carrying out the mail is the part I like most about my work, because I am lucky to be in a beautiful area. When I go by motorbike to the houses in the mountains, I can see the sea from above. In what other work can you do this? In my work, and in my life in general, I follow the motto, not to stress myself, knowing that in the end everything will be okay. The most important thing is to go ahead, be honest, do your job as well as possible and be a good companion and friend. For me the best thing in life is to enjoy every moment. No matter what we have, it is important to enjoy every day and appreciate what we have. And if it can be in good company, even better. I can think of many things that would make the world a better place with more solidarity. I think that politicians should put themselves in the place of the people to understand their problems.

Sport. Ich bin eine sehr ruhige, normale Person. Ich mache gern Witze und bin ich sehr lebensfroh und offen anderen gegenüber. Wenn ich das Haus verlasse, begebe ich mich nach Palmanova, wo ich arbeite. Als Erstes lade ich mit meinen Kollegen den Lkw aus und ordne die Post den einzelnen Zonen zu. Wir teilen uns auf und jeder nimmt seine Post, um sie dann auszutragen. Das Austragen macht mir am meisten Spaß an meiner Arbeit, da ich das Glück habe, in einer schönen Gegend zu sein. Wenn ich mit dem Motorrad zu den Häusern in den Bergen fahre, habe ich einen schönen Blick auf das Meer.

Von welcher anderen Arbeit kann man das schon sagen? In meiner Arbeit und meinem Leben im Allgemeinen folge ich dem Motto, mich nicht aufzuregen. Am Ende wird immer alles gut. Das Wichtigste ist, nach vorn zu schauen, ehrlich zu sein, unsere Arbeit so gut wie möglich zu erledigen und ein guter Kollege und Freund zu sein. Für mich ist es das Beste im Leben, jeden Moment zu genießen. Egal, was wir haben, es ist wichtig, jeden Tag zu genießen und das zu schätzen, was wir haben. Und wenn es dann noch in guter Gesellschaft ist, um so besser. Mir fällt vieles ein, was die Welt zu einem besseren, solidarischeren Ort machen würde. Ich denke, dass sich Politiker viel mehr in die Situation der Menschen versetzen sollten, um deren Probleme zu verstehen.

Nos distribuimos en sectores y cada uno de los compañeros recogemos nuestros paquetes para empezar con la distribución. Hacer el reparto es la parte que más me gusta de mi trabajo pues tengo la suerte de estar en una zona preciosa. Cuando subo a las casas de la montaña en la moto del reparto, puedo contemplar el mar desde arriba. ¿En qué otro trabajo se puede decir lo mismo? Una máxima que sigo en mi trabajo, y en mi vida en general, es la de no agobiarme, saber que las cosas al final siempre acaban saliendo, que lo importante es ir hacia adelante, siendo honestos, realizando nuestra labor lo mejor posible, y siendo un buen compañero y un buen amigo. Para mí lo mejor de la vida es disfrutar de cada momento. Tengamos lo que tengamos, es importante disfrutar del día a día, de las cosas que tenemos a nuestro alrededor. Y si puede ser en buena compañía, pues muchísimo mejor. Se me ocurren muchas ideas para que el mundo sea un poquito mejor, un poquito más solidario. Creo que los políticos deberían ponerse mucho más en la piel de las personas para entender sus problemas reales.

Bis vor einigen Jahren habe ich härtere Sportarten wie Crossfit und Thaiboxen gemacht. Von Pilates oder Yoga bekomme ich Kopfschmerzen. Ich brauche etwas Aktiveres. An Mallorca mag ich alles: das Licht, die Farbe, das Blau und Grün, die kontrastreiche Landschaft. Ein Lächeln kostet nichts. All my life I have worked at the airport of Palma de Mallorca. Unfortunately, all the companies I worked for went bankrupt: Spantax, Meridiana, Futura and Spanair. When this happened, I worked as a salesman in a winery in Binissalem. After the bankruptcy of Spanair, I retired and, as I have always liked animals, I went to a finca to take care of its maintenance. My parents were farmers in Alaró, my home village. At the finca where my father worked, I took care of 130 sheep, while I was still working at the airport. I also renovated houses and rented them to foreigners who came to live on the island. I built these houses myself of stone, very rustic and beautiful. Having built houses with my own hands is a great satisfaction for me. My son lives in the last one I built. Nachdem auch Spanair bankrott war, ging ich in Rente, und da ich schon immer Tiere mochte, habe ich mich um eine Finca gekümmert. Meine Eltern waren Bauern in Alaró, meinem Heimatdorf. In der Finca, in der mein Vater arbeitete, habe ich mich um 130 Schafe gekümmert, während ich noch am Flughafen tätig war. Ich habe auch Häuser renoviert und sie an Ausländer vermietet, die auf der Insel lebten. Ich habe sie selbst aus Stein gebaut, sehr rustikale und schöne Häuser. Es ist für mich eine große Genugtuung, Häuser mit eigenen Händen erbaut zu haben. Im letzten, das ich gebaut habe, lebt mein Sohn. Aus meiner Zeit am Flughafen erinnere ich mich an meine Freundschaften. Allein bei Spantax waren wir mehr als 2000 Mitarbeiter. Dort arbeitete ich im Büro und half unter anderem den zehn Ingenieuren beim Tippen.

Cuando esto sucedía, me marchaba una temporada a trabajar de comercial en una bodega en Binissalem. Tras la última quiebra, la de Spanair, me jubilé y, como siempre me han gustado los animales, me fui a una finca a encargarme de su mantenimiento. Mis padres eran payeses en Alaró, mi pueblo. En la finca en la que trabajaba mi padre llegué a cuidar 130 ovejas, a la vez que trabajaba en el aeropuerto. También me dediqué a restaurar casas, y empecé a alquilarlas a extranjeros que venían a vivir a la isla. Estas casas las he construido yo con mis manos, todas de piedra, muy rústicas, muy bonitas. Para mí haber construido casas con mis propias manos es una satisfacción muy grande. Mi hijo vive en la última que hice. De mi época en el aeropuerto recuerdo las amistades que hice, solo en Spantax ya éramos más de 2000 personas. En esta compañía trabajaba desde la oficina de

I like this life where everyone knows each other, where you feel safe and where you can confidently leave the front door open. I am an open, optimistic and cheerful person. I like to laugh and have fun. It makes me happy to be healthy and to have happy people around me. I think it is a great advantage to be the way you are and not to pretend something you are not. When you go through life like that, people appreciate it. Falsehood is not good. The bad moments are overcome by accepting them and always moving forward. Live day by day and don’t look for trouble or confrontations. It is better to try to get along with everyone. I think it is important and very beautiful that each one of us contributes to life and to the world. Contribute with a good attitude and a good relationship with others makes things better for everyone.

Als Kind war mir bereits klar, dass ich das Land, die Tiere und Bäume mag. Trotzdem wollten meine Eltern, dass ich studiere, und schrieben mich im Institut Cide in Palma ein. Dort wohnte ich dann mit anderen 20 Jungen aus Alaró zusammen. Wenn ich aus irgendeinem Grund nach Palma muss, habe ich es immer eilig, nach Alaró zurückzukommen. Bereits auf der Autobahn gibt es so viel Verkehr, dass ich neulich zu meiner Frau sagte: „Es ist besser, wenn wir den Zug nehmen”. Ich liebe mein Dorf. Ich mag dieses Leben, in dem sich alle kennen, wo man sich sicher fühlt und die Haustür getrost offen lassen kann.

De niño ya sabía que lo que me gustaba era el campo, los animales, sembrar árboles. Pese a ello, mis padres quisieron que estudiara, así que me apuntaron en el colegio Cide, en Palma. En este colegio me quedaba de pensionista junto a otros veinte chicos de Alaró. Cuando tengo que ir a Palma por alguna razón, enseguida tengo prisa por regresar a Alaró. Ya hay tanto tráfico por la autopista que el otro día le dije a mi mujer “vale más que vayamos en tren”. Soy un enamorado de mi pueblo. Me gusta esta vida donde todo el mundo se conoce, donde te sientes protegido y donde puedes dejar la puerta de tu casa abierta con toda tranquilidad. Soy una persona abierta, optimista, alegre, me gusta reír y pasármelo bien. Me hace feliz tener salud y ver a la gente a mi alrededor contenta. Creo que es una gran ventaja ser cómo eres, presentarte cómo eres, no querer aparentar lo que no eres. Si uno va por la vida tal cual es, la gente lo valora. Si vas con falsedad, mal asunto.

Ich bin offen, optimistisch und fröhlich. Ich lache gern und habe Spaß. Es macht mich glücklich, gesund zu sein und zufriedene Menschen um mich herum zu haben. Ich denke, es ist von Vorteil, so zu sein, wie man ist, sich nicht zu verstellen und nicht etwas vorzugeben, was man nicht ist. Wenn man so durch das Leben geht, schätzen die Menschen das. Falschheit ist nicht gut. Die schlechten Momente des Lebens überwindet man, indem man sie akzeptiert und nach vorn schaut. Man sollte jeden einzelnen Tag leben und keinen Streit oder Ärger suchen. Es ist besser zu versuchen, mit allen Menschen auszukommen. Ich finde es wichtig und sehr schön, dass jeder von uns seinen Beitrag zum Leben und zur Welt leistet und das, indem jeder eine gute Einstellung und Beziehung zu anderen hat, damit die Dinge für alle besser laufen.

For me it is important to contribute to the conservation of the planet. Not everything is about money, although it is clear that we need it for life.

Derzeit führe ich den Laden Ca’n Fusteret in Pollensa. Er ist sehr facettenreich und multikulturell und spiegelt das wider, was ich mag. Ich mag auch sehr den Kontakt zu den unterschiedlichsten Personen. Wir bieten eine große Auswahl an ökologischen Produkten. Für mich ist es wichtig, zur Erhaltung des Planeten beizutragen. Es geht nicht immer nur um Geld, obwohl klar ist, dass wir es zum Leben brauchen.

I learned the environmental awareness from my parents who were farmers in Sa Pobla. My father came from a very humble family. He wanted to achieve something and he did. My mother always supported him in everything. My sisters and I helped them to work on the field after school and during summer holidays.

En estos momentos estoy a cargo de una tienda en Pollensa, Ca’n Fusteret. Es un espacio polifacético, multicultural, reflejo de lo que a mí me gusta. También me gusta mucho la gente, tratar con todo tipo de personas. Ofrecemos una gran variedad de producto ecológico. Para mí es importante contribuir a la conservación del planeta. No todo es ganar dinero, aunque está claro que el dinero es necesario para vivir. Esta conciencia ecológica, del campo, la aprendí de mis padres, que eran payeses de Sa Pobla. Mi padre venía de una familia muy humilde y quería salir adelante y lo consiguió. Mi madre siempre lo apoyó en todo. Mis hermanas y yo les ayudábamos en las tareas del campo al salir del colegio y luego en las vacaciones de verano. Me casé muy joven, tengo cuatro hijos. Ellos son la ilusión de mi vida y enseñarles a ser cada día mejores personas es lo que me mueve. Mi actual pareja me ayuda mucho, es como un padre para ellos, no puedo pedir más en este sentido. time and my first son was born, I started studying psychology, but I was left a widow and at 24 I couldn’t continue studying. I remarried and then decided that I would dedicate my life to taking care of my children. On a piece of my parents’ land I started to plant all kinds of vegetables for us. One day I decided to sell what we had harvested at the markets. Soon after, I opened a small shop in Sa Pobla, and many people came. The new shop in Pollensa is big and it isn’t always easy, but I am grateful for this opportunity. In addition to fruits and vegetables, we sell organic products, gourmet products, wines and feed for all kinds of animals. We also have a flower shop and a bookstore. My world is nature and books. About Mallorca I like its people, culture, landscape, nature and history. A good advice is to give others what you would like to receive. Love others in the same way you want to be loved. It doesn’t matter if it is your son or a neighbour. There are no limits for me. The most important thing is peace and happiness, but, above all, love. I have a pretty optimistic view of life, in spite of everything. If we all were more empathic and less selfish, we could talk and know each other better, listen to each other and get to understand each other better.

Als ich zum zweiten Mal heiratete, wollte ich mein Leben ganz den Kindern widmen. Auf dem Grundstück meiner Eltern baute ich allerlei Gemüse für uns an und entschied mich eines Tages, es auf den Marktplätzen zu verkaufen. Bald darauf eröffnete ich in Sa Pobla einen kleinen, sehr gut besuchten Laden.

A parte de frutas y verduras, vendemos productos ecológicos, productos gourmet, vinos y piensos para todo tipo de animales. Y también tenemos floristería y una librería. Mi mundo es la naturaleza y los libros. Der neue Laden in Pollensa ist groß und es ist nicht immer leicht, aber ich bin dankbar für diese Chance. Neben Obst und Gemüse verkaufen wir Bioprodukte, Gourmetprodukte, Weine und Futtermittel für sämtliche Tierarten. Wir haben auch einen Blumenladen und eine Buchhandlung. Meine Welt sind die Natur und Bücher. An Mallorca mag ich die Menschen, Kultur, Landschaft, Natur und Geschichte. Ein guter Rat ist, anderen das zu geben, was man gern erhalten möchte. Man sollte andere Menschen so lieben, wie man selbst geliebt werden möchte. Egal, ob es der Sohn oder ein Nachbar ist. Für mich gibt es da keine Grenzen. Das Wichtigste sind Frieden, Glück und vor allem Liebe. Ich sehe das Leben trotz allem optimistisch. Wenn wir alle empathischer und weniger egoistisch wären, könnten wir uns besser kennenlernen, einander zuhören und besser verstehen.

he aprendido que tengo una gran capacidad para querer a los demás. Cuando me casé por primera vez y tuve a mi primer hijo, empecé a estudiar psicología. Pero me quedé viuda y, con 24 años, no puede seguir estudiando. Me volví a casar y entonces decidí que dedicaría mi vida a cuidar de mis hijos. En un trocito de tierra que pertenecía a mis padres empecé a sembrar todo tipo de verduras para alimentarnos. Y un día decidí ir de mercados por los pueblos a vender lo que cosechábamos. Al poco tiempo abrí una tiendecita en Sa Pobla, y muchísima gente vino a comprarme.

De Mallorca me gusta su gente, la cultura, el paisaje, la naturaleza y su historia. Un buen consejo es dar a los otros lo que te gustaría recibir. Quiere a los demás de la misma manera que quieres ser querida. Tanto a un hijo como a un vecino. Para mí no hay barreras. Lo más importante es tener paz y felicidad. Pero, sobretodo, amor. Tengo una visión bastante optimista de la vida, a pesar de todo. Si todos tuviéramos más empatía, si fuéramos menos egoístas, podríamos hablar y conocernos mejor, escucharnos y llegar a entendernos de otra manera.
