At 0129 on December28, 2021, Tanker66, Air66, Field 66 and an all-volunteercrew from Perkiomen Township Fire Company responded to the Perkiomen Creek bank in the 600 block of Gravel Pike (Route 29) in the township fora report of a vehicle in the creek. The vehicle was on the bank of the creek and a technical rescue was performed up the embankment. Thanks to the many mutual aid partners who were also dispatched including Skippack Fire Company and marine units from Collegeville Fire Company, UpperSalford VolunteerFire Company and Jefferson Fire Company No. 1. 2 Dead in 4 Vehicle Berks County MVA

On December15, 2021, units operated at a multi-vehicle MVAwith entrapment in Berks County on Interstate 78 nearthe Route 61 interchange. Two people were killed in the crash which involved fourvehicles. The driverof an empty school bus did not see traffic stopped in a construction zone and hit a car, causing it to become lodged beneath the bus, the Pennsylvania State Police said. The bus then hit anothercar, pushing it into a tractor-trailer, police said. Units from Hamburg, Shoemakersville, Shartlesville, Schuylkill, Orwisburg, Schuylkill Valley, Mulhenburg and Western Berks operated forseveral hours. - Fire News photo by Jarrod Emes, Chief 61
