Meet our Student Leaders for 2022
With plenty of ambition, enthusiasm, drive, and vision, we are excited to see what our 2022 Senior student leaders will bring to their respective roles and how they will make their mark on the Fintona community.
SCHOOL CONSULS
Genevieve Retallick ‘I applied for School Consul because I really want to do my part in giving back to this school that I love so much, by adding to the family feel that Fintona provides, and helping nervous students feel calmer and more welcomed, just like the School leaders helped me was when I was in Year 7.’
Annie Walters ‘As Consul, I can only hope to match the impressive standard the past leaders of this school have set — to be open, kind and supportive to all the students. Every girl at Fintona has such amazing ideas, and by being a small school we are fortunate that those ideas are able to be heard and put into action.’
DEPUTY CONSUL
Tash Lucas ‘An effective leader is one who focuses on the development of every individual in order to improve the group and not just themselves. To achieve this, good leaders are those who lead, yet listen and encourage others to achieve their goals.’
HOUSE CAPTAINS
Boyne | Chantelle Dao ‘I applied for the leadership position of House Captain as I feel my positivity and enthusiastic personality best suit this role and I wanted to ensure that House activities were full of energy.’ Boyne | Helena Thijs ‘I hope to make Boyne a House full of friendships across year levels and full of students eager to be involved for the team.’
Clarke | Mia Biondo ‘House is the best part of my week and I love to see people I don’t normally get to talk to. I also just love seeing everyone’s smile.’
Clarke | Tara Kitchin ‘Confidence, experience, and understanding are qualities that make a good leader.’
Hughston | Abbey Jacobs ‘I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the House activities during my time at Fintona, so to be able to lead Hughston for all of these events is such a privilege.’
Hughston | Lara Sirianni ‘As a leader I want to help create a welcoming environment for everyone. I want to make House a fun and enjoyable time where students can connect with each other.’
Maxwell | Emily Sticca ‘I hope to encourage all the girls in Maxwell to give everything a go and give it their best shot, but more importantly, ensure that everyone has the best possible time whilst doing so.’
Maxwell | Natalie Xavier ‘I like the culture and community of Maxwell and want to develop this further as CoCaptain. I was House Captain in Junior School and adored the role. I enjoyed getting to know each of the girls in my House, which I’m looking forward to doing in Maxwell for 2022.’
Murdoch | Aimee Liu ‘I hope I can encourage younger year levels to participate in House events, as well as to enjoy every single House meeting.’
Murdoch | Zoe Stefanatos ‘A good leader is someone who is passionate about the role that they are in, as well as being friendly, sociable, determined and reliable for the people that they are leading.’
Ower | Mattea Black ‘I feel so proud of my House when I wear the purple top during events, and therefore being a House Captain means I can lead Ower with that same pride.’
Ower | Samanthy Sudheshan ‘The environment in House is something I love and I want to share my House pride and passion with the rest of the girls.’
ACTIVITIES CAPTAINS
Art | Kristen Goh ‘I enjoy the creative process of art, and it has always been a constant in my life. Fintona has allowed me to think deeper and more critically about art, and in new ways, and with this leadership opportunity, I hope to help students with their art endeavours.’
Debating | Livia Tropea ‘I wanted the opportunity to connect with and guide the girls who enjoy debating like I do, and help make the program as strong and enjoyable as possible.’ Drama | Charlotte Dowling ‘Drama has been such a big part of my life and I want to share why I love drama so much with the Fintona community, and hopefully encourage other students to participate and have fun.’
Environment | Shivangi Kakkar ‘I have always maintained a huge passion for the environment and applying for Environment Captain was one way I wanted to inspire others to also instil such a passion.’
Languages | Eileen Liang ‘I applied for the position of Languages Captain because language studies have always been my favourite subjects at school. I also wanted to deliver my passion for languages to the younger girls and hopefully encourage more girls to continue their language studies.’
Library | Alianna Huang ‘I hope to achieve a greater sense of community in the library with not just the students who enjoy reading but also anyone who would like to join, and to create a social environment where students can make new friends.’
Music | Amelia How ‘I think a good leader is someone who is able to listen and co-operate with others, whilst maintaining the ability to make final decisions on behalf of the group. Being open to constructive criticism is also a quality that I believe a good leader would display.’
Sport | Dayara Jayatissa ‘As Sports Captain, I hope to encourage all students to participate in Fintona’s amazing sports program. Even if sport may not be their specialty, giving it a go can make a huge difference both physically and mentally as trying new sport can build students’ confidence and resilience.’
STEM | Keira Xu ‘I love challenging myself and being STEM captain will challenge me in a way that is different from how STEM subjects have challenged me.’
