Dispute resolution Dispute resolution requires skills in providing effective and practical advice, both in order to avoid disputes and to resolve disputes that have already arisen.

“Compact and focused team.

- Chambers Europe, Dispute Resolution

Waselius & Wist has represented clients before all instances of Finnish civil and administrative courts, as well as special courts such as the Market Court. We have extensive experience of arbitration proceedings under the auspices of institutions worldwide, including the Finland Chamber of Commerce, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the ICC and UNCITRAL. Our partners are also frequently engaged as arbitrators in major proceedings. We provide quick, pragmatic and to-the-point advice and assistance in pre-dispute negotiations as well as postdispute matters. We argue in Finnish, Swedish, English and German.

Practice

Our Dispute Resolution Practice Group combines extensive experience with innovativeness and dynamism.

Many of our lawyers are recognised globally as leading practitioners in the field of dispute resolution by Chambers and Legal500.

We work in small, focused and efficient teams especially tailored for each case. We avoid sending armies of lawyers to court, but prefer a high degree of partner involvement and hands-on engagement by all team members.

Services

We provide the full range of services covering the entire spectrum of disputes and potential disputes, including: • pre-dispute negotiation • interim measures • settlement negotiations • mediation • litigation • counsel in arbitration proceedings • arbitrator • enforcement • challenge and annulment proceedings

Our dispute resolution team advises clients at all stages of disputes and potential disputes. Predispute negotiations and mediation may in many cases lead to an end result more satisfactory for the client than full-fledged litigation, and our lawyers are experienced negotiators. During litigation or arbitration proceedings, our team gives the case all its attention and leaves no stone unturned. We also provide effective and practical advice and assistance in relation to interim measures, injunctions and enforcement.
