Vision

The vision of Ignition is to train you for local church leadership. Ignition offers full-time and part-time study options

designed to equip you to become a more effective leader and give you skills to achieve success and fulfilment in life.

Teach. Skilled and experienced lecturers will teach the word of God, providing a foundation of theology from which to live and minister. Train. Ignition trains people in the how-to of local church leadership with hands-on ministry exposure. Impart. More is caught than taught. Exposure to men and women leading the C3 vision in this state and nation will impact and empower you to effect the people and environment around you.

Who we are Christian City Church is an international movement of local churches that are bright, enthusiastic and relevant to their culture with a message of faith, hope and love. We connect God to people, people to God, and people to each other. Christian City Church Hepburn Heights is a relevant pentecostal church which has grown to be one of Perth’s leading churches, enjoying a reputation of balance and integrity, since it was formed in August 1975.

The History of Ignition Beginning in 2003, Ignition Leadership Training College was birthed out of a desire to build strong local church leaders and heroes who will be a light for Christ in the community. Ignition has seen over 100 people attain nationally recognised qualifications, ranging in age between 17 and 65 and is an extension campus of C3 Bridgeman Downs Ignition Training College.

OT Survey Take a journey with the characters and the authors of the Bible from Genesis to just before the birth of Jesus Christ, with an emphasis on the incredible re-occurring promises and characteristics of God. Church History Explore the birth of the Church, and how it has developed and grown – through great triumphs and challenges with incredible role models; to the church we see today. Doctrine 1 A unit of “Meat” as theological issues ranging from Revelation and The Scriptures to the Trinity and Salvation are explained, discussed and chewed upon. Youth Ministry & Culture Hear from some of the most cutting-edge youth pastors in the state, as they passionately teach and share the spirit behind, and the practical outworking of, youth ministry in the 21st Century. NT Survey Discover the life-changing account of Jesus Christ, and then explore the early days of the church and the birth of theology in the New Testament. Chaplaincy Gain insight, understanding and training into the challenging and pivotal role that is on the front line of helping people in society today. Doctrine 2 A unit of “Meat” as theological issues such as Humanity, End Times, the Church, Angels and Demons are explained, discussed and chewed upon. Ethics* Have your mind stretched and your ideas challenged on issues facing society today such as abortion, euthanasia, war, sexuality & relationships & cloning. * This unit will be delivered at both the main campus (semester 2)

and the southern campus (Semester 1)( C3Fremantle-Thursday nights 6:45-8:45pm).

College Locations Main Campus C3 Hepburn Heights located at 31 Chadlington Dve Padbury, a 10 minute walk from Greenwood Train Station on the Joondalup Train Line. Southern Campus C3 Fremantle located at 230 Hampton Rd, South Fremantle, a 3 minute bus ride from The Esplanade Train Station on the Fremantle Train Line. NB – This campus offers part-time night units only.

Internship Program Full-time students will be involved in an internship program at their local church one day a week, enabling them to apply the knowledge they have acquired, experience different areas of ministry, and help their church to grow and remain healthy. The area of ministry for each internship may include; youth, kids, young adults, community services, connect groups, creative etc.

Do you have a passion to help people? Are you thinking of being a counsellor? The Diploma of Counselling (CHC51708) is a great way to begin your career as a counsellor. The program is endorsed by the Australian Counselling Association which means that you can practice as a counsellor after you have finished the program. If you compared that with university, you have to complete at least 3 years before you can ‘practice’. The course provides university accreditation so if you want to continue your studies you will receive credit for what you have done already.

The 3 weekend workshops are HANDS ON! With substantial opportunity to practice new skills with easy to follow proformas and proven effective strategies! Is this course legitimate?

The Certificate IV in Christian Ministry & Theology and Diploma of Counselling are nationally recognised, fully accredited courses that are Austudy approved. If you plan on doing further study, these qualifications will give you credit at University or TAFE.

What can I do once I have this qualification?

On completion of the Certificate IV in Ministry & Theology, graduates may be able to find employment in fields including Chaplaincy, Youth Work, Pastoring, Community Work & Church Planting* (*further study required).

How much is the course and when do I pay fees?

The Certificate IV is $4,000.00. Fees are paid at least a term up front, in accordance with the Ignition Trainee Handbook (see page – 10). Fees can be paid by cash, cheque or eftpos. There is a non-refundable application fee due upon applying to study. This fee varies according to when you apply. There are costs associated with textbooks. You should budget $150.00 for these resources. There is a $25.00 cost for a field trip in Semester 1 There are registration, travel and accommodation costs for involvement in the Red Frogs Chaplaincy program at the end of the year. You will be notified in a timely manner of the exact costs.

What days do I have lectures?

Lectures occur on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons. Your start time on those days will be around 8am and your finish time will be around 5pm. The diploma of counselling lecture is on a Tuesday night from 6:30-9:30pm beginning in semester 2.


Ignition 2010 Frequently Asked Questions Where is my internship based?

The internship program is based at your local church, in an area that you choose. The internship is one day a week, with the day decided upon by you and your supervisor (pastor).

How long does the course run for?

The course runs for 35 weeks, broken into 4 terms Term 1 10 February – 9 April Term 2 28 April – 25 June Term 3 28 July – 24 September Term 4 13 October – 3 December

Who will be the lecturers?

Lecturers will include the following: John Finkelde, Darrren Hultgren, Phil Kinney, Jason Schroeder, Ben Gould, Cherry Schroeder, Natalie Caruso as well as various guest lecturers from around the state and nation.

What units will the course cover?

Units will include Doctrine 1 & 2, Old Testament, New Testament, Youth Ministry & Culture, Ethics, Church History, Chaplaincy, Major Project & Ordering Your World.

What kind of assessments are there?

Assessments are competency-based in their format, and will include the following methods: Short Answer Tests, Exams, Essays, Oral Presentations, Debates, Reports and Video Presentations. ....................................................................................

What is the next step? The next step is that you make a decision, then go to the Ignition Training College website and register your interest. You will then be called in for an interview, and on the basis of the interview, be accepted into the course.
