FINE & COUNTRY MONKS WOOD HOUSE Monks Wood House is an extremely attractive family home that was beautifully designed and built in 2005, but what sets it apart from many others is its uniquely beautiful setting. It sits in around two acres of splendid grounds, on the edge of the National Nature Reserve of Monks Wood, one of Britain’s best known and Cambridgeshire’s largest ancient woodland. “It was definitely the setting that initially drew us to the house,” says Patricia. “It is so incredibly beautiful and the wildlife is amazing.”

Fine & Country is a global network of estate agencies specialising in the marketing, sale and rental of luxury residential property. With offices in the UK, Australia, Egypt, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Namibia, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, The Channel Islands, UAE, USA and West Africa we combine the widespread exposure of the international marketplace with the local expertise and knowledge of carefully selected independent property professionals. Seller Insight A small woodsman’s cottage originally stood on the land, but around twelve years ago, the previous owner was granted permission to knock it down and build this lovely home. It’s been beautifully designed to really make the most of the setting and as well as being very spacious, it also has a very light and airy feel throughout. We have a wonderfully large living room, a beautiful dining room and a fabulous kitchen that flows straight into the glazed garden room. We can sit in there and really feel part of the outside space even on the greyest of days.” “The garden is just lovely and being so close to woodland gives one the feeling of being a million miles from anywhere,” continues Patricia. “We have a formal area and a more natural space that leads into the wood, so although the grounds extend to around two acres they are very easy to look after. It is peaceful and private and stunningly beautiful in every direction.” “The village of Abbots Ripton is only a few minutes away and it is an absolutely charming place that I will miss very much when we move,” says Patricia. “It has a lovely pub restaurant, a small shop/post office and the sense of community is wonderful.” “The house is perfect for family gatherings, and once a year, when the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells, we invite a group to come for a lovely long walk and then back to ours for a bit to eat. The house really lends itself to entertaining.” “If you asked me what I did not like about living at Monks Wood House, my answer would be absolutely nothing; I cannot think of anywhere I would have rather spent the past eight years,” says Patricia. “It’s a paradise for adults and children, and a sheer doggy heaven; it has been a uniquely special home, but we simply need to move closer to our grandchildren.”*

I love the kitchen and garden room,” says Patricia. “It is the part of the house that everyone seems to naturally gravitate to, I suppose because it has such a lovely connection with the garden and woods.”
