FINE & COUNTRY

It was a development of houses built on the old dairy farmyard carried out in 2001 to 2002. Our house is solidly built, with generous windows allowing plenty of natural light in, and with a layout where rooms flow nicely from one to another and French doors opening onto the garden.”

“The kitchen is a single storey extension created by previous owners which makes a fabulous room catching the morning sun rising through the tall, Moroccan style, arched windows, with lovely views over the fields beyond the garden. The conservatory has been fitted with a glazed roof and fixed internal shade and ceiling fan, making it a lovely room to sit in all year round. We see amazing sunrises and sunsets here - they’re quite spectacular!”

“The whole house has been redecorated with new carpets, curtains and blinds throughout. The stair carpet is from Susie Watson from which we based the colours of the décor.”

“The garden was in need of quite a lot of attention when we came here; it had become massively overgrown impeding the view onto the fields and self-seeded buddleias were everywhere. So we did a lot of clearing and replanting, and replaced three of the fences, planting a Portuguese laurel along the fourth side. It’s completely enclosed and secure at the back, very sunny and private. We can see cows grazing in one field and a horse in another.”

“It’s a very quiet, tranquil spot and we have very nice neighbours, in fact, the whole community is lovely. There is a number of families here whose children catch school buses from the middle of the village. As has been mentioned, The Whichcote Arms has been undergoing a refurbishment and is due to open any day. It will include a butcher, cafe and convenience store, as well as a picture framer supplying local greetings cards in the outbuildings round the back.”

“There are lots of footpaths and bridleways making it ideal for walking or hacking, with opportunities for keeping horses either in livery or renting grazing nearby. People come at weekends with their horse boxes to go for hacks round here!”

“We are moving to be closer to grandchildren; the house is in a perfect setting situated in a very friendly village and if we could take it with us we certainly would!”*
