The town offers much-sought-after state and independent schools, a train station, theatre, and the beautiful Quarry Park. The Property is approached via double wooden gates leading onto a sweeping gravelled drive. KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM – This is a light and bright space of generous proportions. The pretty country cottage style kitchen has a tiled floor, exposed beams and brickwork. Seller Insight We hadn’t really looked in this area but when we saw the details on Rightmove, we had to come and look. It was a gorgeous, sunny day when we first saw The Firs and it was love at first sight! The sun streamed into the hallway through the coloured glass and the floor was dappled in bright colours, it was stunning,” recall the current owners. “The location is fabulous. Astley is a lovely village with a great sense of community, and everyone is very friendly. There’s always something interesting happening at the village hall, including Annual Spring Fair, monthly quizzes and murder mystery evenings. We enjoy walking our dog across the fields, often stopping at a nice pub on the way home. The quaint town of Shrewsbury, with its cobbled streets and narrow passageways, is only a short drive away and makes for a lovely day out. We have enjoyed scenic walks and boat trips along the river. There is a good mix of high street and little independent shops.” “The fully enclosed garden is perfect for our dog to run and play in securely. There are lots of interesting areas, including the cottage garden space with a bench to sit and watch the visiting wildlife. The old well is a lovely feature too and the entertaining area is very sheltered and private.” “We tend to spend most of our time in the Family Room. It is oak framed with double vaulted ceiling and is always full of light. It really comes into its own in the summer when we open the doors to the garden but it’s also beautifully warm in winter when the wood burning stove is lit.” “The sitting room is my favourite room. We have added a wood burner into the old cast iron fireplace which is a lovely feature that keeps the room cosy and warm.” “We love the original features, including the Secret Cupboard (if you can find it!); also the original architect’s nails in the dining room beam which date The Firs back to 1760.” “We celebrated our son’s 21st with a marquee on the lawn. The twinkling lights in the garden looked lovely and we toasted marshmallows on an open fire. We even managed to accommodate 40 guests who stayed overnight!” “We’ll miss the space around the house. It feels very private, yet we’ve never felt isolated or alone. It’s the best of both worlds.” *
