EDITOR’S LETTER The first ever Indian Grand Prix comes after a very dark week in the world of motorsport, with the loss of Dan Wheldon in Las Vegas on the 16th and on sunday the loss of Marco Simoncelli in the Sepang. The thoughts of all the finalsector team goes out to the families and friends of Dan and Marco at this hard time. This preview is a bit later than normal due to myself being ill and unable to complete the design and uploading of the finished product which I shall apologise for. We come back after the Korean GP with a somewhat fresher look and better looking content, thanks to all the writers for this preview. We will be taking a look at the One from a Billion hunt that Force India launched earlier this year and the winner will be announced this weekend. We have two tributes to the late and great Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli. We have a driver profile on Sebastien Buemi and the top 5 is in there too, Well I hope you enjoy this preview and drop us a tweet with your views on it twitter.com/finalsector we look forward to your views and feedback.

FERRARI

Qualifying is still a sore point for the team, with Fernando Alonso being out qualified by Massa in Korea, the Spaniard acknowledges there is more to do to give Ferrari an opportunity to exploit their substantially better race pace on Sunday. The media interest in Korea about their 2012 front wing gave rise to annoyance from within the team, but it confirms that although they want to feature in the last three races, next year is where their focus is.

FORCE INDIA

Being their home race, the team will be expected to deliver for the crowds when the lights go out for the first time. Recently Adrian Sutil has voiced his desire to know more about his position within the team for the 2012 season, despite knowing Vijay Mallya is intent on waiting until the current season has finished, with speculation increasing about Nico Hulkenberg.

HRT F1 TEAM

It was widely expected that Narain Karthikeyan would be taking over Daniel Ricciardo's seat for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix, however it will be Vitantonio Liuzzi would will be stepping aside to allow the Australian to continue his programme. The partnership with Tata also bolsters the connection with India and so eyes will also be trained on the Spanish outfit.

LOTUS RENAULT

The team find themselves fighting back from another disappointing weekend, in Korea Vitaly Petrov crashed out taking Michael Schumacher with him. Bruno Senna found himself lapped and only just ahead of a Team Lotus car. For India they are maintaining focus on a race by race basis, the 'here and now' according to Eric Boullier.

MCLAREN

Following a muted return to the podium in Korea Lewis Hamilton is relishing the challenge the track is about to offer and revisiting the fans he entertained during a show run in Bangalore after the Singapore GP. If McLaren fans are concerned about the switch from developing the MP4-26 to the MP4-27, Martin Whitmarsh assures the desire to win has not diminished. In fact the team see the final races within their grasp, but also as an opportunity to test out 2012 developments.

MERCEDES GP

Ross Brawn remains pragmatic regarding the data gathered ahead of his drivers touching down, explaining that for him, "Nothing replicates the feedback from the drivers on their first laps out on the new circuit on Friday." Notable for their straightline speed, the three straights featured should provide them with a biting point, if they can get the balance between speed and downforce correct, to secure good points in India.

RED BULL

Time spent in the simulator has boosted the team's mental preparation for the first lap of the new track, with Mark Webber claiming that they have an 85% understanding of the circuit. With both titles wrapped up, Christian Horner is committed to securing a win for their Australian driver, a feat Sebastian Vettel is willing to aid. Focus for some teams may be switching to 2012, but Adrian Newey is cautious to begin testing next year's components, save giving away his designs.

SAUBER

A disappointing result for their drivers put them both behind Heikki Kovalainen's Team Lotus in Korea, will be used to spur them on in uncharted territory this weekend. Kamui Kobayashi is somewhat concerned about his stomach, but rookie Sergio Perez is looking forward to all drivers having to tackle a new circuit. Sauber will be taking a few updates with them, namely small alterations to the rear and front wings.

TEAM LOTUS

Although expected to take the helm in India for his home race, Karun Chandhok has been left without a drive this weekend, disappointed he respects the team's decision to utilise the experience at their disposal. However within the team Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli are similarly interested in what India can offer them. "Whatever happens it's going to be hot, probably a bit mad, but seriously good."

TORO ROSSO

Three points separate the Italian team and their closest rivals Sauber, and Jaime Alguersuari is expecting a continuation in performance from Toro Rosso to see them finish the season in seventh. Not only is there an on track battle for position, the inter-team battle for 2012 doesn't look set to subside and in these last three races there is everything to fight for.

VIRGIN RACING

Getting involved in the 'interactivity' element of bringing Formula One to India for the first time, Virgin have put their 2010 car on display in a shopping mall in Kolkata. But like other teams, the focus has already begun to shift towards next year, Timo Glock imploring that the team "take forward valuable lesson and information for next year."

WILLIAMS With divided fortunes in Korea seeing the team miss out on the points again, the team are looking forward to the level playing ground the Indian Grand Prix will offer, despite the wealth of unknowns. However focus still surrounds next year's line up, with Kimi RäikkÜnen in the frame to replace one of the current drivers..

Regardless of motive, the 'One from a Billion' trials were a great success and last week seen the final contestants travel to Silverstone to compete in front of expert judges who include household names Nico Hulkenberg, Anthony Hamilton, Bob Farley and Eddie Jordan. A fact that has escaped a lot of media attention is that after encountering some un-disclosed issues with Visas the final 10 sadly became 8 after Abha Mankar and Mayur Kamat were unable to continue in the competition. It cannot be comprehended what impact this has had on the 2 young men who came so near, yet so far. The prize is in the sights of the final 8 drivers; Anshuman Chatterjee, Arjun Maini, Jehan Daruwala, Masood Mahommed, Nikhil Kashyap, Parth Ghorpade, Shashank Ravishankar and Tarun Reddy. Are these young men simply cogs in a well-oiled corporate machine or are we looking at one of the Fomula One stars of the near future?

HRTF1 started 2011 with a completely new (or veteran) driver line up in the form of Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan, only to then replace Karthikeyan with Toro Rosso reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo. When it was announced that Ricciardo was to drive for the HRT team many were dubious, not because of his talent, but because of the stigma that seems to attach itself to drivers of the new teams. Though they won’t be doing it deliberately the fact that the new teams have slower cars means that the drivers in affect look like they may not be as talented as people expect. Ayrton Senna once said “If you think I’m fast, just wait until you see my nephew Bruno.” Well the fans saw him, and more often than not they saw him off the track in advertisements, gravel, barriers or even the pits retiring. When Senna was dropped it seemed like that could be the end of his stint in Formula One. That is until this year when Lotus Renault surprisingly dropped Nick Heidfeld and replaced him with Bruno, and since then he has proceeded to show us that he is quite quick. Senna wasn’t the only driver to suffer, his teammate and good friend Chandhok sufsuf fered a similar fate, and was taken by the other team, Team Lotus as their test driver, and he has since appeared frequently around race weekends. At least with “karunipedia” he could have a job as a commentator if the race dream doesn’t come through; nonetheless we wish him the best of luck getting a permanent drive. Martin Whitmarsh has said recently that during Vodafone Mclaren Mercede’s 700 grand prix’s 170 teams have been and gone, “This is McLaren's 700th grand prix, and 107 grand prix teams have failed since we have been in motor racing.” An interesting thought for the fans and teams.
