Mayat is the story of Nama, a poor, unemployed, famine-struck villager hopelessly struggling to find work. One day, at a funeral, he instinctively starts collecting the coins thrown over dead bodies as part of the death rituals. He continues visiting other funerals to provide food for his hunger stricken family. This soon takes him to a crossroads, where he has to choose between morality and sin.
