WELCOME The Fiesta Bowl is truly “More Than Just a Game™,” as Fiesta Bowl Charities celebrates another year of creating positive impact throughout the state of Arizona. Since 1971, Fiesta Bowl Charities has had the fortunate opportunity to serve thousands of Arizona nonprofits, giving back to organizations that contribute to the success of their communities through youth, sports and education. This past season, Fiesta Bowl Charities donated $2.5 million to 60 deserving nonprofits across the state. Through its two annual bowl games in the Valley, the PlayStation® Fiesta Bowl and the Cheez-it® Bowl, as well as community events throughout the year, Fiesta Bowl Charities has given $12.5 million to the Arizona community in the last eight years and is the most charitable bowl game in college football. In addition to the charitable organizations who receive funding, $1 million was donated through the Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers, powered by DriveTime program. Through random selections, 200 Arizona teachers received a $5,000 grant to support their classroom, directly benefiting more than 50,000 students. OCTOBER 25, 2018 Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers, powered by DriveTime provided $1 million this fall to 200 deserving teachers throughout the state of Arizona. By submitting online applications, Arizona K-12 teachers in public and charter schools were eligible to receive $5,000 each to fulfill their classroom wish. By random selection, 200 teachers received a grant during the first-ever “Draft Day,” as Arizona community champions, celebrities and the college football community called the deserving teachers to give them the exciting news.

DECEMBER 1, 2018 + MARCH 23, 2019 Fiesta Bowl Charities partnered with KaBOOM! to build two new playgrounds in the state of Arizona during the 2018-19 grant cycle, providing more than 6,000 children with beautiful playgrounds in their communities.

FIELD DONATION MARCH 15, 2019 Fiesta Bowl Charities donated the game field from the Cheez-It Bowl to Bullhead City, 80,000 square feet of turf was recycled and installed at Rotary Park. The $250,000 legacy project included a new field, field goals, bleacher revitalization, and a brand new scoreboard. In partnership with BHHS Legacy, now thousands of kids have a safe place to call their home field.

PLAYER OUTREACH DECEMBER 24, 2018 The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs celebrated the holiday season alongside 120 children from the Muscular Dystrophy Association at Main Event Tempe. Players were teamed with the children as they played arcade games, battled one another in laser tag and bowled. Before leaving, each child was given a TCU poster card, TCU gear and memories to last a lifetime.
“We had a grandparent share that the player outreach event was the first time she had seen her grandson smile in months. PLAYER OUTREACH DECEMBER 25, 2018 On Christmas morning, University of California, Berkley student-athletes volunteered their time with the Salvation Army at the annual Christmas Dinner with more than 5,000 guests at the Phoenix Convention Center. The players assisted with serving a hotcooked meal, painting nails and assembling crafts. The 2,500 children left the one-of-akind holiday celebration with a toy, a Cal poster card and Golden Bears autographs.

PLAYER OUTREACH DECEMBER 29, 2018 Louisiana State University student-athletes put their skills to the test during the Day of Play at Notre Dame Prep with over 120 children from both Future for Kids and HopeKids Arizona. Kids and players were split up into groups as they rotated through stations of football, soccer, dizzy bat, tug of war and the PlayStation gaming truck. Each participant was given a PlayStation bag filled with sunglasses, shirts and a commemorative PlayStation Fiesta Bowl LSU poster card.
“The Fiesta Bowl Day of Play with LSU and Future for Kids was a wonderful event that brought children together from all steps of life and reminded us that playing sports can be for everyone! It does not matter if you are in a wheelchair, if you have cancer or if you live in a foster home. PLAYER OUTREACH DECEMBER 30, 2019 The Knights took the field at Scottsdale Community College alongside some of our brave men and women from VetTix and their family members. They rotated through stations of football drills conducted by coaches from Positive Coaching Alliance, and enjoyed the PlayStation gaming truck for some friendly competition. The participants walked away with PlayStation gift bags, hats and signed UCF poster cards.

3 ON 3 CLASSIC APRIL 14-15, 2018 The Fiesta Bowl 3 on 3 Classic is an outdoor streetball basketball festival held at Westgate Entertainment Center on April 14-15, 2018. This event was a new platform that promotes the spirit of competition and raises money for Special Olympics Arizona Unified (inclusive) programs. With 16 divisions of four-person teams competing, opening the event to players of all skill level, age, gender and ability, all teams played a minimum of three games and the opportunity to become court champion! Winners of the Elite and Unified Divisions earned tickets and on-field recognition at the 2019 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.

KICKOFF LUNCHEON AUGUST 21, 2018 Every year, college football fans in the Valley of the Sun look forward to the Fiesta Bowl Kickoff Luncheon to get ready for the season ahead. In addition to an exciting presentation from college football’s biggest names, attendees are treated to lunch, exclusive ticket packages, photo opportunities and much more. This year, we proudly hosted legendary former Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops as our 2018 keynote speaker.

BIRTHDAY PARTY SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 On September 28, approximately 120 kids from 10 different Phoenix-area Boys & Girls Clubs gathered for Spirit’s Third Annual Birthday Party. The Fiesta Bowl’s official mascot hosted children who competed in friendly games of flag football under the lights at the Jerry Colangelo Boys & Girls Club. Fiesta Bowl Charities surprised the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix with a check for $1,000 for new sports equipment for their club.

FOOTBALL CLINIC OCTOBER 13, 2018 More than 300 kids from the Salvation Army Kroc Center, Boys & Girls Clubs, Luke Air Force Base and Fighter Country Patnership participated in the Fiesta Bowl Youth Football Clinic. The free non-contact clinic was led by former NFL wide receiver James Jones, coaches and Notre Dame Prep High School football team.

PAR 3 CHALLENGE PRESENTED BY KADIMA.VENTURES
OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 2, 2018 Wells Fargo Fiesta Bowl Par 3 Challenge presented by Kadima.Ventures is a hole-in-one contest unlike any other hosted at the picturesque Short Course at Mountain Shadows. Played as a scramble-style tournament, foursomes compete for a chance to win a prize on every hole and four lucky golfers from each round earned a chance to swing for a million dollars! As part of the event, eight media personalities took a swing to earn $2,000 for a local charity. Veterans Heritage Project, NotMyKid, Ryan House, Elevate AZ, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Amanda Hope Rainbows, Future for Kids, Franciscan Renewal Center, A New Leaf, Homeward Bound and Playworks Arizona were all represented. CBS5 anchor Sean McLaughlin hit the ball closest to the pin, resulting in a $2,000 donation to Franciscan Renewal Center.

FIESTA BOWL PARADE PRESENTED BY CHEEZ-IT
DECEMBER 29, 2018 The Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Parade, presented by Cheez-It® showcased a pageantry of brilliantly colored floats, giant balloons, equestrian units, charitable groups, local celebrities and marching bands that made their way down the two-mile route through Central Phoenix. Every year, a combination of more than 2,500 men, women, children, floats, balloons and animals participate in the Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Parade.

SANTA CLAUS DECEMBER 13, 2018 Hosted by Dick’s Sporting Goods in partnership with USAA, 22 children with parents deployed on active military duty military experienced their own Christmas miracle. This event would not have been possible without Fighter Country Foundation who support Airmen and their families. Every participant was given a $300 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card and was partnered with a USAA volunteer to have as a personal shopper. Along with memories that will last a lifetime, these special kids went home with new sports equipment, bikes, trampolines, fashionable clothes and more.

AEROSPACE CHALLENGE PRESENTED BY KADIMA.VENTURES
JANUARY 24 - 29 + FEBRUARY 9, 2019 The Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge, presented by Kadima.Ventures is the largest extracurricular STEM program for grade school and junior high school students in the state. Students create a scale model and written report about an International Logistics Mission to colonize Phobos, a moon of Mars. The primary purpose of this mission is the development of a plan to establish a sustainable base on Phobos with minimum support from Earth.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD OCTOBER 27, 2018 NACDA Community Service Award presented by Fiesta Bowl National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the Fiesta Bowl recognized outstanding community service efforts for NACDA Division I member institutions. NACDA and the Fiesta Bowl awarded $10,000 to the University of South California for its chosen charity, LA’s Best. The award was presented at halftime during the USC-ASU football game on October 27, 2018.
NACDA McLendon Award presented by Fiesta Bowl For the second straight year, the Fiesta Bowl partnered with NACDA to award the John McLendon Minority Scholarship to a student from an Arizona-based four-year institution. This year’s recipient was Markel Leonard from Arizona State University.
CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD In October, Fiesta Bowl Charities was awarded the 2018 Phoenix Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Community Impact Award. The award recognizes Fiesta Bowl Charities’ commitment to the community and the $12.5 million given in charitable giving over the last eight years to youth, sports and education nonprofits across the state of Arizona. “Earning this award means so much to our organization. Spirit tirelessly dedicates himself to approximately 120 appearances across the state each year. From hyping up crowds at various Arizona events to spreading joy at local schools, Spirit brings smiles and warmth wherever he goes.
