BOARD NEWS Message from Brenda Herrman, alumni board president As the summer of 2011 brings me to a new stage in life with my retirement as the director of public works for the city of Hays, so do the initiatives created last year continue to unfold for the FHSU Alumni Association. The restructured “Everyone’s a Tiger” membership program, which includes all FHSU graduates as alumni members on the Bronze level, plus four optional membership levels, each with a progressive list of available benefits and services, has brought new life and excitement to the Association. The creation of a Tiger chapter program has also resulted in myriad activities and events offering alumni the opportunity to become more involved than ever before. While the focus has been on selected cities in Kansas, the intent is to develop more state chapters and eventually broaden our reach across the country, first to Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas and then to international areas served by the university. The key to success of these programs, however, will be you FHSU alumni who respond to these initiatives by advancing beyond your current membership level to become active members who attend chapter events in your area as well as traditional events and activities, such as Homecoming, Half Century Club receptions, Student Recognition Scholarship Programs, pre-game parties and MIAA tourney rallies. Remember, Tiger spirit is contagious! As the university continues to grow in leaps and bounds, please continue to help your Association grow for the benefit of current students and generations to come. Don’t forget to stay in touch. Send updates of contact information or milestones in your life, and check our website at www.goforthaysstate.com and Facebook fan pages. Also, for more information, please call the Association at 785-628-4430, toll free at 1-888-351-3591, or drop an email to alumni@fhsu.edu. Though now retired from my career, I will serve my term as president of the Alumni Board of Directors and look forward to working with you to meet the challenge of taking our Association to new heights. See you at Homecoming 2011!
