Digitalisierung verändert den sozialen Sektor Digitalization is Changing the Social Sector
Sozialwirtschaftliche Organisationen sind aktuell besonders herausgefordert, ihr Dienstleistungsangebot an den veränderten Bedürfnissen ihrer Adressat*innen auszurichten. Die Spring School des Europäischen Masterstudiengangs Sozialwirtschaft und Soziale Arbeit mit rund 120 Teilnehmer*innen widmete sich deshalb im Mai 2018 ausgiebig diesem Thema.
Social economy organizations are currently facing a particular challenge in aligning their service offerings to the changing needs of their addressees. For this reason, the Spring School of the European Master’s Degree Program Social Economy and Social Work, with approximately 120 participants, was devoted extensively to this topic in May 2018.
Digitale Technik am Arbeitsplatz vereinfacht und beschleunigt Routineaufgaben und lässt insgesamt eine effizientere Gestaltung des Arbeitsumfeldes zu. Darin sieht Brigitte Reiser, die den Blog Nonprofits-vernetzt.de betreibt und Organisationen in Deutschland berät, eine Chance. Technik ist jedoch nicht per se wertneutral. Die digitale und vor allem mobile Kommunikation verändert die Handlungsbereiche sozialwirtschaftlicher Organisationen. Es entstehen neue Dienstleistungen, Märkte, Verfahren und Beziehungen und diese bieten wiederum neue Formen der Partizipation. Ähnlich sieht das Janet Kuschert vom Mentoringprogramm Sindbad in Wien, wobei sie betonte, dass es Digitalisierungskonzepte und vor allem Ressourcen braucht, um Content für die jeweiligen Zielgruppen aufzubereiten. Es sei unmöglich, so nebenbei als Sozialarbeiter*in verschiedene Plattformen wie Facebook, Instagram oder Twitter mit Inhalten zu versorgen und mit den User*innen im permanenten Austausch zu sein.
Digital technology at the workplace simplifies and accelerates routine tasks and, as a whole, allows for a more efficient design of the work environment. Brigitte Reiser, who runs the blog Nonprofits-digital.de and advises organizations in Germany, sees this as an opportunity. However, technology is not value neutral per se. Digital, and above all mobile communication, is changing the areas of action of social economy organizations. New services, markets, processes and relationships emerge and these in turn offer new forms of participation. Janet Kuschert, from the Sinbad mentoring program in Vienna, sees things similarly, stressing that digitalization concepts, and above all resources, are needed to prepare content for the respective target groups. As a social worker, it is impossible to provide content for various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and to be in constant communication with the users.
Digitalisation: Wonder Pencil or a Gun?
Digitalization can help to simplify procedures in the social economy. The situation is different with regard to complex control tasks and knowledge-based activities which are the focus of social services. Because these aspects lie beyond the nature of algorithms. Harald Frei, Chief Executive Officer and board member of the Rummelsberger Diakonie in Germany, is convinced that although they will have to face new technologies, social workers will not be replaced by robots in the future. Michael Freund, who deals with Active and Assisted Living in the Fonds Soziales Wien (Vienna Social Fund), sees new areas for the implementation of digital applications in the field of nursing and care, but points out that the elderly target group has not yet arrived in the digital age. Die Digitalisierung kann helfen, die Handlungsabläufe in der Sozialwirtschaft zu vereinfachen.
