Nothing Common About It

THERE IS NOTHING COMMON ABOUT BERKLEY COMMON. ORIGINALLY OPENING ITS DOORS IN 2017, OWNERSHIP OF THIS BERKLEY STAPLE, AT 3087 W. 12 MILE RD., RECENTLY TRANSITIONED FROM FOUNDERS AND SISTERS KATIE KUTSCHER AND CHRIS GROSS TO GORAN DIMIC AND BRANDON GORGIES.

The space offers a rustic “common” area for people to gather along with an extensive dinner menu. It is known for its outdoor eating, too, with private verandas now available alongside the rest of the restaurant’s existing patio seating. The building itself is comfortably nestled into the corner of Griffith Ave. and 12 Mile.

BERKLEY COMMON OFFERS SELECT CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DISCOUNTS, including Wine Wednesday with half off all bottles and brunch items served over the weekend, Friday to Sunday, from 11:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. Brunch includes both breakfast and lunch fare as well as kids’ meals and a cocktail menu. Rental space is also available for on-site private parties. Ask about their seasonal menu.

“We do all kinds of events in our upstairs space,” said co-owner Gorgies. “Anything from wedding showers to corporate meetings.”

The second floor contains a loft space perfect for parties of up to 75 people. The loft includes its own bar and scenic views of downtown. Guests arrive through a private entry leading directly upstairs, and there is a special banquet menu from which they can choose meal options ahead of time.

While the new owners are just getting into the swing of things, Gorgies said, “We're here to serve great food and great drinks. Berkley is a great community, and we are happy to see more good restaurants and storefronts opening up.”
