Champagne Ghost

A Name As Unique As The Service

BROOKLYN BELLE’S PASSION FOR HELPING PEOPLE LOOK AND FEEL THEIR BEST BEGAN WITH HER KNACK FOR GETTING NAILS NOTICED IN 1989.

After experimenting and realizing her artwork had become the talk of a party, Brooklyn decided to begin her health and beauty career as a nail technician. From there, she expanded her craft, becoming a massage therapist in 2005, then a licensed esthetician and makeup artist in 2010.

Growing up in Ferndale and spending more than 20 years living there, Brooklyn eventually decided to pursue her long-held dream of becoming a spa owner where she could share her talents with a bigger client base in the neighborhood she knew best. In 2021, she opened the doors of Champagne Ghost Spa at the corner of Hilton and University, honoring her love for all things spooky in its name.

Opening a business can be a bit scary itself, of course, but Brooklyn knew she had to take a chance and felt Ferndale was “the perfect place” to get things started. She wanted to “contribute back to the city I love. The community of Ferndale is very welcoming; the people are very open-minded and accepting. And there’s everything you could possibly want here.”

The owner added, “I’d been in this line of work 25+ years, and I wanted to take a gamble on myself. I just wanted to be able to give clients exactly what they’re looking for, offering the best products, and giving clients individualized service. My business reflects my personality and my sincere commitment to clients’ satisfaction and well-being. The way I manage and deliver services is important to me. I also read somewhere that you have to be your authentic self as a business owner to survive.”

AND SURVIVE SHE CERTAINLY HAS, largely because Brooklyn made sure to think of everyone who may be interested visiting along the way. “I once had enough clients just to survive,” she explained. “But the response I’ve gotten is overwhelming, and I have to give props to my SEO and web designer. I’m a bit computer-illiterate, and I wanted to make sure the website was simple to use for a five-year-old and an 85-year-old.”

The services Champagne Ghost has to offer are unique as well. “We tend to draw like-minded clients and those who are just curious,” Brooklyn said, referring to the spa’s name, which she chose because, “I’m a horror-movie junkie; I grew up in haunted house and I love haunted houses.” However, she added, “I think a lot of people like my products because they’re vegan and organic. I offer a line that really works.”

IN ADDITION TO A WIDE VARIETY OF MASSAGE AND FACIAL OPTIONS, Champagne Ghost offers one-of-a-kind body waxing services that “people come from all over to get,” Brooklyn said. And the spa’s services wouldn’t be complete without fun naming-conventions like “killer knots,” “redrum carpet,” and “trick-or-treat, fix my feet massages,” “vamp” and “Leatherface facials,” “mummy wraps,” and more.

Despite the fun names, Brooklyn explained, “I want my clients to not feel scared to get what they want. I have a sign in here that says, ‘A little weird is good,’ and I think that makes people feel comfortable. We also have a large skeleton named Salem, and I joke that he’s actually the owner.” In fact, Brooklyn has a granddaughter named Salem, and given the popularity of the spa’s Salem citrus spa products and its pseudo-skeleton owner, she said, “Maybe she’ll take it over one day.”

Most days, Brooklyn can be found greeting new customers and return clients who come through the door. But when she’s not busy with her day-to-day or spending time with her family, the spa owner loves to travel. “I’ve been to 39 countries,” she said, “And there’s only one continent I haven’t been to: Antarctica. I’ll make sure that happens someday.” n
