A workshop, derived from bargello tapestries, for those who have basic stitching and rotary cutting skills and who are eager to learn about colour placement and design. This patchwork technique can be used for a table runner, carry bag, full-size quilt, table mats, garments and garment insets. Evening Activity The Big Bobbin Banquet Party Time

Start with a specially concocted Quilter’s Cocktail (Choose a wicked one or an innocent one), be seated for a Four-course Dinner with all the tutors and the Sew North team, open your goody bag of Quilty Secret Treats, and join fellow quilters and guests for live music and entertainment in the Bar/Foyer after dinner. ₏39.50 per person / Booking Essential

Alternative Daytime activity for Saturday: Gotta see those quilts.

Get there on your own steam, or pick up one of our mini-tours. Visit Fuji Centre / Dunree / Clonmany / Sliabh Sneacht / Buncrana Quilt Trail Allow at least three hours for this one - or make a day of it, our guide map will show suggested stops and eating places along the way. Seriously good scenery, bring the camera and wear comfy shoes.

Lynda’s Feltworks Working on beautiful Wool Felt with the ever popular Lynda from The Cotton Shed. Here you can make a lovely Candlemat, 10” in diameter. You can have your choice of four designs, strawberries, honeybees, flowers or patchwork blocks. You will learn how to applique with the wool and experiment with different stitches using beautiful wool threads. Lighthearted, fun workshop. Time: Cost: €45.00

Evening Activity Sunday Night - Quiet Night, but those who wish to can Drift Away. Music and Craic in The Drift Inn, possibly the best bar in Ireland. Railway Road, Buncrana, two minutes walk from Inishowen Gateway Hotel.

Alternative Daytime activity for Sunday: Take a short drive out to The Glen Waterfall, a pleasant 1 km walk from the roadside car park. Stop for Afternoon Tea at The Glen House, then stop to shop at Crafty Anne’s “Glendowen Crafts” on your return trip back to Buncrana. Allow 2 - 3 hours min.

A great technique, hand sewing that allows you to make up perfect blocks, anywhere, anytime. Easy on the joints (your elbows and wrists that is), a great skill to master, can be used in conjunction with machine piecing*. “The most relaxing, informative class I have ever attended”, according to one happy past pupil. Building of the Millennium, St Aengus’ Church, Burt. Then detour to the Bird Sanctuary, walk along the waters edge by Inch Lake, almost as far as the castle ruins - a fabulous day out. Detour back to The Gap in Bridgend (or Doherty’s Cafe or Harry’s) if all that walking has worked up a healthy appetite

Antique Irish Quilts with Rosalind Shaw

Rosalind shares the best of her unique collection, gathered with dedication over many years, some originating from the Inishowen / North Donegal area. An informal Show - and - Tell format, where we can marvel. ask questions, and learn for the experts. 8.30 p.m. followed by music and entertainment later. €5.00 per person Winners Announced - The “Hands across the Water”

Alternative Daytime activity for Thursday: Visit Malin Head, Ireland’s most Northerly point. Take the left turn after Lagg Church, and stop at the viewing Car Park on the Knockamany Bends road, where all the North Atlantic tries to break its way into the shelter of the Five Fingers Strand below. Enjoy one of the best cups of Coffee in ireland from Dominic, the Barista on wheels at Banba’s crown. Stop by the Seaview tavern for food and craic.

Alternative Daytime activity for Friday: See the east Coast of Inishowen, travel to Muff then North to Moville, Greencastle, Shrove Lighthouse and walk to Inishowen Head, on a clear day you will see clearly past the North Antrim coastline to Rathlin Island and beyond to the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland.

Kick-Off for the All ireland Football Final, and we put the finishing touches to our quilt -“All About Sam”. As the final whistle blows, we fit the block representing the winning team into the centre, and so ends Sew North 2014 Time: 3pm -
