A few words from: Carmine Nardelli - CNSU

Uccio, it's a pleasure to have you with us!

Would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Carmine Nardelli, but everyone knows me as Uccio I’ m currently in the first year of my Master’ s degree in Marketing, taught in English, after completing my Bachelor’ s degree in CLEAM

Since high school, I’ ve always had a strong interest in student representation I started out as a class representative, and during the last two years of high school- marked by the challenges of the pandemic- I served as a course representative, facing even more complex situations

When I arrived at Bocconi, I continued my involvement in student representation from my very first year, becoming a class representative. Then, in my second year, I was elected as the course representative for CLEAM

Around the same time, I actively took part in the founding of Astra, becoming one of its original members. During the 2023 Ele-Bocconi elections, I was the only undergraduate student elected to the Academic Council (Collegio dei Docenti), a result I’ m particularly proud of Beyond the official roles, I’ ve played an active part in Astra since its inception, leading the events area. After spending the first semester of my third year on an exchange program in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I was elected President of the association, alongside Rocco Totaro

At the end of my term, I continued to support Astra with a more transversal role, staying closely involved in both student representation and organizational initiatives, in order to ensure continuity and growth for the association.

You were there when Astra was born; what were those days like?

The early days of Astra were truly extraordinary Looking at what Astra is today and thinking back to two years ago fills me with pride and, at the same time, almost disbelief Back then, Astra was little more than an idea an undefined dream we talked about over pizza and beer Over time, that dream began to take shape: it became a concrete project, then a tangible reality, and finally a successful one. I clearly remember those first moments, especially during the election campaign: there were only a few of us, and we had to handle everything from organizing exchange events to coordinating the different teams. Today, instead, I see a well-structured association, capable of managing multiple aspects simultaneously, made up of many motivated people, not only interested in representation but also engaged in events and social activities

This shows that in just two years, we ’ ve managed to convey our values in a genuine way and make them something people can truly embrace And that, to me, is the greatest achievement, far beyond any number of votes we might have received: seeing so many people chasing the same dream with the same energy and passion is something truly special and unique

What has been the most enriching aspect of your experience at Bocconi so far?

What fills me with the most pride is exactly this: knowing that people believe in a project that was started by just a few of us even those who are no longer at Bocconi and those who no longer experience campus life the way they did back then It’ s hard to find the right words to describe this process, something we couldn’t have even imagined just two years ago. And yet, somehow, everything came together almost naturally. Astra, which was originally just an electoral list, has become a structured, organized association

Today, the projects we once only imagined not only come to life but grow into something even bigger than we expected

This journey has taught me so much, above all, the importance of being among people, which I believe is the most valuable skill you can have From every person I interact with, I try to take away something positive, something that can stay with me and help me grow beyond this experience

Astra Bocconi

A few words from: Carmine Nardelli - CNSU

Talking about the elections, why did you decide to run for this role?

These are not roles one simply chooses, nor is running for such an important position a decision made lightly This is precisely why I am proud of the trust the group has placed in me This trust is also the key to a successful team I know I am well-suited for the role, but at the same time, I am truly grateful to the group for believing in me

. What do you hope to achieve if you get elected?

It would be an opportunity for Astra to have our working method an important innovation that I believe we have successfully introduced to the university representation landscape recognized at a national level This role would not only allow us to work in Rome, closely engaging with the ministry to advocate for our initiatives, but it would also give Astra the recognition it deserves, both as an established presence at Bocconi and, more importantly, as a growing network

In conclusion, in your opinion, what distinguishes Astra from other students representatives associations? We are fun and charismatic, which is not something to take for granted in the world of student representation As I mentioned earlier, our approach is to experience representation in a youthful way fast-paced, dynamic, and filled with ideas and enthusiasm This is not a given, as many representative bodies tend to be slow and unresponsive Instead, we focus on flexibility, which often requires extra effort, but so far, it has brought us many great achievements and satisfactions.

Thank you, Uccio! Good luck!

A Few words from: Camilla Raspino CDD

Hello Camilla, how are you? Why don’t you tell us something about yourself, for those of you that don’t already know you; even though I’m sure everyone has already seen you face at least once!

Yes that’ s true, but I’ll introduce myself again nonetheless.

My name is Camilla Raspino, I am in my first year of the Master’ s program in Transformative Sustainability and I am part of the Social and Community

Engagement Committee at Bocconi

I’ ve always been a core member of Astra, since its very beginning and I have always been active in our University’ s campus life

That’s great, thank you! Now, please explain to us what is the CDD and what is your role in this Council.

I have been elected to the Faculty Council (CDD), an academic body responsible for coordinating and overseeing the teaching activities of the program, monitoring the quality of instruction, approving study plans, and proposing initiatives to continuously improve the students’ educational experience. Within the CDD, I will be part of the Disciplinary Committee: a small group tasked with evaluating reports related to students’ academic behavior, ensuring compliance with the university's code of ethics and promoting an environment based on fairness, responsibility, and integrity.

Perfect! Lastly, what is your main objective as newly elected representative to the Faculty Council?

During my term, my main goal is to give a voice to students: collecting ideas, needs, and proposals to represent them within the Council, so that decisions truly reflect the needs of our student community

Thank you Camilla and good luck!

A Few words from: Armando Mastromartino

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOOL

We’re here with Armando or, as some of you may call him, “Armando la musica” . How about a brief introduction?

Sure! Hi everyone, I’ m Armando Mastromartino I’ m currently enrolled in my second year of Bachelor in Economics and Management (CLEAM), but I am also a dj in my spare time, from which the nickname “Armando la musica ” comes from Originally, I’ m from Melfi, a town in the province of Potenza, in Basilicata Right now instead, I live in a modest apartment next to Bocconi...and that’ s about it I guess.

That’s perfect! We know you’ve been elected as representative to the Undergraduate School, why don’t you tell us more about this body and your role in it?

Sure. The Undergraduate School Council is responsible for protecting the interests and needs of all students enrolled in Bachelor's degree programs here at Bocconi University It deals with matters related to academics, curriculum, international opportunities, as well as career opportunities It works closely with JobGate, the Career Service, and generally all offices dedicated to helping students enter the job market

Well I’m sure that all Bachelor’s students will be reassured by knowing you’ll sit there to represent them! But tell us a bit more about your main objectives for this role. Goals for the term? Definitely making the most of this space for direct and concrete dialogue with the administrative staff, like the Undergraduate School Council, to make the academic offering increasingly diverse and inclusive; both in terms of academics and the types of experiences and opportunities students can engage in during their university journey Also, another big goal of mine is to strengthen collaboration with the Career Service so that the undergraduate program can become a benchmark when it comes to facilitating students’ entry into the job market

Thank you Armando and good luck!

Astra Bocconi

A few words from: Francesco Iaccarino & Andrea Torre GRADUATE SCHOOL

Hi Ciccio, congratulations! Let’s start with a brief introduction about yourself.

I’ m currently in my first year of the Master’ s program in Data Science and

Business Analytics. For my Bachelor’ s, I was a student in the BEMACS program.

I’ ve recently been elected as a representative of the Master's school together with Andrea Torre

You’ve been elected to an important body within our university. Could you briefly explain what the council you’re part of is and what your specific role is?

The body I’ ve been elected to is responsible for making decisions on a range of issues that are essential for the effective management of the Master’ s school In addition to this, it promotes new initiatives, discusses new funding opportunities, and partnerships with private institutions

It also deals with the JobGate platform, post-graduation employment rates, and related policies to meet students’ needs.

During your term, do you already have any projects or proposals in mind to work on?

First of all, we ’ re considering implementing a system to evaluate the teaching materials provided to students during courses. Often, instructors assign chapters from different textbooks, making it difficult for students to collect and organize information effectively. We ’ll aim to find a way to produce didactic materials that are appropriate and suitable for a Master’ s level education. Another initiative we want to pursue is strengthening the dialogue with partner universities regarding exchange programs Currently, much of the process is left to the student, and there are issues such as delays in receiving transcripts for exams taken abroad This can lead to missed graduation deadlines, potentially preventing access to the first available graduation session We want to work toward making this process smoother and more structured

Thank you, Francesco, and good luck with your work!

A few words from: Francesco Iaccarino & Andrea Torre GRADUATE SCHOOL

Hi Andrea, welcome! Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Andrea Torre and I’ m a first-year Master’ s student in Internationa Management I was a residence representative at Spadolini during my second year of undergrad, and this year I’ ve served as a course representative for the IM program

Let’s talk about your role. What is your specific function within the council you were elected to? And what motivated you to run for this position? Within the Master’ s School Council, we ’ll be working on everything related to the students’ journey throughout the Master’ s program: academics, internationa mobility, job placement, and organizational and administrative aspects

My experience as a course representative for IM sparked my interest and motiva School Council because I saw firsthand how much can be improved, both as a university and as a community, especially for international students who now make up an increasingly significant part of our Graduate School

Looking ahead, do you already have any projects or proposals in mind for your term? In particular, what would you like to improve for Master’s students?

There are many areas we want to work on, all outlined in our election program One that I’ m especially passionate about is the implementation of the new bimester system, which I personally experienced this year It represents the most important and imminent change to the Master’ s courses, and it will definitely be my top priority over the next two years

There’ s a lot we can improve for Master’ s students. Our goal should be to make the academic path as engaging and job-placement-oriented as possible. I’ll give my full commitment to representing students’ interests in the council, and I’ m confident we can significantly enhance the learning experience.

Thank you, Andrea, and good luck!

A few words from: Salvatore Spaccarotella, Aldo Corigliano & Emma Bisogno LAW SCHOOL

Hi Salvatore, welcome! Tell us something about yourself.

I’ m Salvatore Spaccarotella, former student representative on the Joint StudentFaculty Committee, Degree Program Representative, and now also Student Representative on the School of Law Council

Mine is the story of a young man who started from nothing a young man who had to learn from the very beginning that sacrifice, commitment, and determination are the foundation of every achievement

It’ s the story of that scared student who, nearly four years ago, sat for the first time in Aula Perego, with a heart full of dreams and a mind full of doubts And today, despite the dark times, the anxiety, and the fear of not making it, he is proud to have reached this goal.

It’ s the story of someone who truly believes. Who deeply believes in the values of honesty and humility. Who believes that the needs of others matter just as much as his own. Who sees student representation not just as an honor but as a mission.

Would you mind briefly describing what the Law School Council is about?

The Council of the School of Law is the beating heart of academic life within the School of Law; it is the body that defines its direction, supports its evolution, and ensures educational excellence

It is responsible for organizing academic activities, approving academic regulations, and assessing the quality of teaching, with the goal of ensuring a rigorous educational experience that aligns with global challenges

At the same time, it manages and implements international exchange programs, such as Exchange, Themis, and Double Degree, as well as numerous extracurricular activities, particularly Legal Clinics, Moot Court Competitions, and In-company training programs

The Council consists of three student representatives, two course representatives, the student representative of the Department of Legal Studies, the Dean of the School of Law, professors, and administrative staff assigned to specific issues

Ultimately, the Council of the School of Law is where ideas are transformed into concrete opportunities, aimed at enhancing the experience of students in the CLMG and BGL programs

Lastly, what is you main objective as representative to the Law School Council?

The goal is clear, yet more complex than ever: to repay the trust you ’ ve placed in me

The challenges ahead are many, no doubt But I know that every step forward, every milestone achieved, will be the result of collective work built on dialogue, listening, and determination

Because representing others doesn’t just mean speaking on their behalf it means giving voice to their aspirations, turning ideas into reality

Because “ we are simply a microphone for all those voices that need to be heard ”

Because my ambition runs deep, and this is just the opening chapter of a much longer story.

And I, as a Representative of the School of Law, am ready to do whatever it takes to make our law school a place that everyone can truly call home.

Thank you Salvatore and good luck!

A few words from: Salvatore Spaccarotella, A Emma Bisogno LAW SCHOOL

Hi Aldo, welcome! Tell us something about yourself.

As we all know, every introduction should start with the basics My name is Ald

Marcello Corigliano, I’ m in the final year of the Master’ s Degree in Law, and come from Reggio Calabria a city I’ m deeply attached to Like many Italians, have a boundless passion for sports in all its forms especially those that mak the heart of our country beat and I dream of one day creating a space of my ow to talk about it

Five years ago, I left Calabria and moved over a thousand kilometers away: sinc then, Milan has become my second home Looking back, I can say with certaint that student representation has been a fundamental constant throughout m university journey.

From day one when I nearly made the “mistake” of walking between the Lions for the first time I felt the desire to leave a mark, to help improve what surround y all began.

Salvatore has already told us what we needed to know about your Council, is there anything you’d like to add to that?

After spending the past two years working on scholarships and student housing as a representative on the Executive Board of ISU Bocconi, I was recently elected to two different governing bodies: the Council of the School of Law and the Department Councils

The School Council is responsible for all academic matters related to the Master of Law program (CLMG) and the Bachelor in Global Law (BGL), with attention also given to LLM programs

As I’ m sure Salvatore told you already, in addition to approving study plans and modifying academic paths, the Council oversees all initiatives aimed at promoting quality and innovation in teaching Special attention is given to exchange programs with partner universities, which help make Bocconi one of the most international universities in Italy The Council is chaired by the Dean of the School and includes the Directors of the relevant degree programs along with other faculty members

The nine Department Councils, on the other hand, oversee the teaching and research activities of Bocconi’ s various academic fields Each council is composed of the professors and researchers in the respective discipline Particular attention is given to the Department of Legal Studies “Angelo Sraffa, ” whose student representative also participates in the meetings of the School of Law Council

Lastly, what it is that you want to bring forward during your time as representative?

What do I plan to do next? A trick question At the end of this election campaign which, by the way, marks the third time I’ ve run for office I’ ve realized that I need to focus 100% on shaping my academic path Simply put: I need to graduate and get out of the way as soon as possible

I’ ve given it a lot of thought, especially in light of the extraordinary result we achieved in the Law School Council elections together with Alberto Basile, Emma Bisogno, Giulia Fiore, Jacopo Sciarappa, and Salvatore

Spaccarotella. In a highly competitive environment, with two other lists running, Astra came out on top, managing to elect two out of three representatives.

The credit goes to you, and no one can ever take that away.

But precisely for that reason, I hope you ’ll understand if I add one more thing: this result is also above all the outcome of the hard work carried out over the past few years by many people.

First and foremost, Alberto Nicastro a great friend and travel companion to whom I owe deep gratitude. And secondly, all the law students who have walked this path alongside us.

Thank you Aldo and good luck!

A Few words from: Pasquale Mazzeo - ISU

We’re here today with Pasquale Mazzeo, called “Peil” . Why don’t you tell us something about yourself?

ISure, it’ s great to be here with you today! Helo everyone, I'm Pasquale Mazzeo, but everyone calls me “Peil” , which is actually the Italian pronunciation of “Pale” , that’ s how my friends back home used to call me

I’ m a third-year student of Economics and Management (CLEAM). I come from the beautiful city of Naples and I live in the Pensionato residence, which has been my home for the past three years. Go Pensio!

Great! Can you give us a quick introduction of your Committee and the role you’ll be playing as representative to this body?

My committee is the one that protects all students who benefit from scholarships and the right to education, so everything concerning scholarships, financial aid, and life in the university residences It also deals with managing all the issues that arise within the residences and address students’ complains I guess you could say that the ISU Steering Committee is particularly relevant now that the tuitions have been rising each year For this reason, I know that it will be tough to allow students’ voices get through and achieve significant results, but I’ m determined to make that happen Studying in a private institution does not mean that students should be prevented from enjoying their right to a quality education

We’re happy to hear that Lastly, why don’t you tell us what are yout main objectives as representative to the ISU Steering Committee?

We definitely want to ensure more transparency between the administrative offices and the students; clearer communication We aim to push for more scholarships to be granted to all students

Also, we want to ensure the establishment of more comprehensive regulations, especially with regards to the inconsistencies between international and national applicants.

For example, during the conversion process, there's no consideration given to the differences in the cost of living between one place and another, meaning that the country of origin influences students’ access to funding, while not always representing the true financial position of said students.

That seems like a lot of work. Thank you Pasquale and good luck!

A few words from: Michele De Dominicis, Luca Di Giacomo, Margherita Alonzi & Francesco Rastelli

DEPARTMENT COUNCILS

Hi Michele, welcome! Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Michele De Dominicis, I am 20 years old, and I come from Salerno.

I am a proactive person, always seeking new challenges and opportunities to put myself to the test.

My main passions are event organization and the music business interests that are a core part of my life.

In addition to my creative inclination, I have a strong interest in the world of finance, which I study and explore with consistency.

I believe that understanding economic mechanisms is essential for those, like me, who aspire to create and manage projects of value and social impact

I am fascinated by the idea of combining entrepreneurial vision with financial skills to build solid and innovative ventures

Who deeply believes in the values of honesty and humility Who believes that the needs of others matter just as much as his own Who sees student representation not just as an honor but as a mission

As the first representative to the Department Council, we leave to you the honor of explaining what this body deals with!

At Bocconi, there are nine Department Councils, each composed of faculty members and one student representative These bodies deal with academic and organizational matters, such as course planning, defining the educational offering, and ensuring the quality of teaching. In the specific case of the Department of Finance, the Council plays a key role in ensuring that the educational content remains aligned with developments in the financial sector. This means evaluating the introduction of innovative courses, strengthening the link between theory and practice, and ensuring that all students pursuing a career in finance whether in corporate finance, markets, investments, or institutions receive a solid and upto-date education.

And to conclude, what is you main objective as representative to the Department Council?

During my term on the Council of the Department of Finance, I want to help make the academic journey even more aligned with the needs of the professional world

In particular, one of my main goals is to facilitate access to high-quality internships by leveraging Bocconi’ s strong reputation with leading investment banks and financial firms

I am committed to:

Strengthening the dialogue between the Department and the Career Services in order to expand curricular and extracurricular internship opportunities, especially with institutions such as Goldman Sachs, J P Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, and Citi

Proposing regular meetings with alumni working at bulge bracket and boutique financial firms to help students better navigate the various career paths in the sector

Advocating for the introduction of practical courses and workshops (such as case studies on M&A or equity research) in collaboration with professionals, to better prepare students for competitive internship selection processes

Thank you Michele and good luck!

A few words from: Michele De Dominicis, Luca Di Giacomo, Margherita Alonzi & Francesco Rastelli

DEPARTMENT COUNCILS

Hello Margherita, welcome! Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Margherita Alonzi, I am currently in the fourth year of the Master’ s degree in Law, and I am honored to serve as a student representative of the Department of Legal Studies at Bocconi University.

My long-standing experience at this university has allowed me to appreciate the many opportunities it offers, as well as to understand the challenges that sometimes affect an academic environment undergoing constant evolution and internationalization.

I chose to run for the Department Councils because I firmly believe in the importance of dialogue between students and faculty, aware that students can significantly influence key decisions when cohesion is present

Michele and Luca have already told us everything we needed to know about your Council, but why don’t you add something on that?

Well as I’ m sure they’ ve already told you, the Department Council can be described as a collegial body responsible for managing and organizing academic activities within each Department.

Specifically, the Council handles the technical and administrative services of the Department, defines the need for faculty and researchers, and organizes and coordinates teaching activities, ensuring that all courses are adequately covered. It also proposes the activation of new programs.

Lastly, what is your main objective as newly elected representative to the Department Councils?

Throughout my term, I will be committed to actively representing students’ concerns, promoting transparency in decisions regarding teaching methods, study plans, and exam schedules

I aim to encourage professional development initiatives and opportunities for dialogue with the job market, in order to make the university experience more concrete and aligned with future needs

Lastly, I will strive to strengthen communication between students and the Department, ensuring that everyone is informed and involved in the opportunities available

Thank you Margherita and good luck!

Astra Bocconi

A few words from: Michele De Dominicis, Luca Di Giacomo, Margherita Alonzi & Francesco Rastelli DEPARTMENT COUNCILS

Hello Francesco, welcome! Tell us something about yourself.

My name is Francesco Rastelli, and I am in the second year of BIEM, International Economics and Management. I come from a small provincial town, Fidenza, which is a completely different reality from the metropolitan city of Milan and the international environment that is felt at Bocconi. There, the pace of life is much slower, and time seems like an almost unlimited resource. I am now nearing the end of my second year, and especially in the last few months, I have started to experience campus life with interest and proactivity, trying to bring added value to our community and rediscovering the centrality of the student in university life, particularly in an environment like Bocconi, which is already very oriented toward the adult life of the job market I’ ve realized that being at university is the last step before entering, for the rest of your life, into the adult world, a much more complicated environment than what I’ ve heard about. Living every day, interacting with people, and being curious about new experiences and realities on campus is allowing me to learn more about myself and better understand the world. Until last year, I played basketball, and if I had to make a comparison, right now, when I spend so much time between associations, representation, and campus life in general, I feel like when I used to go to the gym every day to prepare for the weekend game. I was aware of the responsibility I had for all the time spent running back and forth on the court, ensuring that this time was productive, but at the same time, I found pleasure in that effort, especially thanks to teammates who were companions on the journey and are still close friends I believe that all the losses and victories we shared, united and close-knit, will bind us for the rest of our lives

Your colleagues have already described the body you’ve been elected to, so why don’t you tell us something more about your role?

My role as a student representative on the Department Council is to bring the voice of the student body into these discussions It’ s not just a formal presence: I actively participate in meetings, engage with professors, directors, and other council members to raise issues, propose ideas, and seek solutions that can concretely improve the quality of the academic experience I am a point of contact between students which, in my case, this means promoting teaching that is more aligned with the job market, without forgetting the importance of personal growth and the freedom to explore one's own interests It’ s a role that requires listening, the ability to synthesize, and, above all, a true sense of responsibility toward those you represent

Lastly, what is your main objective as newly elected representative to the Department Councils?

First of all, I’d like to thank Aldo Corigliano, one of the founders of Astra, who decided to step back to allow new generations to step up Now, back in the fourth year of high school, I had been the Student Representative of my school, a truly incredible year for me that I currently remember as the most intense of my life The spirit with which I ran for that election was to make myself available to a community Similarly, after becoming attached to the Bocconi environment and meeting extraordinary people, I decided to get back in the game From my specific body, the Department of Computer Science, I will certainly try to convey the importance of a teaching approach focused on providing practical tools useful for an individual’ s professional life after university, but at the same time, it should not neglect the opportunity to help students better understand their potential and interests. Finally, I look forward to pursue Astra ’ s program proposals such as: Integration of the Chicago Principles into the university’ s regulations, simplification and deregulation of CASA system procedures, and the organization of events and initiatives that increase the sense of belonging to this community and allow for the 360° development of the individual.

Thank you Francesco and good luck!

Hello everyone, my name is Alessandra and I am a student in the Master of Science in Marketing Management program It is a great pleasure to have been elected to the University Quality Committee with the Astra Bocconi list After two years serving as a representative on the ISU Committee, this new appointment represents a continuation of my commitment to student representation, which I pursue with passion In the past, I have held other roles as a representative for the Marketing Management program and for the Isonzo residence, and I am happy that this dedication has once again been recognized by Bocconi students It was also a pleasure to run in this campaign alongside my colleague Francesco

Carletta, who played a crucial role in securing this seat

Could you brieflt remind us of the responsabilites of this role for our readers?

I am the current representative of the Pensionato residence, President of Astra for this second semester of the 2024/25 Academic Year, and President of the "Bocconi Students for Real Estate" association

I think that my involvement in our University life tells you just how driven and passionate I am, and how much I care about our institution

We can assure you that your effort doesn’t go unnoticed! Now, explain to us what the Evaluation Unit consists of.

The University Evaluation Unit is an independent body that monitors and evaluates the quality of the university's activities, such as teaching, research, and services It provides analysis and recommendations to the Board of Directors and the Rector to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the university, and it prepares an annual report based on internal data and contributions from the joint committees

Lastly, what is it that you’d like to achieve as representative to the Evaluation Unit?

My goal is to truly bring the voice of students where important decisions are made I want student feedback not to end up forgotten in a drawer, but to actually be used to improve courses, services, and the overall university experience I will work to make everything more transparent, more accessible, and more useful for those of us who live university life every day

Thank you Marco and good luck!
