Business News & Notes Grand Opening for Conte’s Bike Shop is Saturday, Oct. 10 Conte’s Bike Shop is hosting a grand opening on Saturday, October 10 in its new location at 7121 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church. The new shop, which is already open for business, will have food, a DJ and raffles from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Founded in 1957 by Charles R. Conte, Sr., the bicycle store and repair shop chain which is owned and operated by David Conte and Wayne Souza, also has locations in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Williamsburg, Newport News and Richmond. An Arlington location is expected to open March 2016. The Conte Bicycle Group also distributes under its private label, “1957 Brand,” and is managed by Jennifer Warinner, a GURU F.I.S.T Certified Body Geometry Fit Technician and a Certified USA Triathlon Coach. Chamber, GOP, Dems, CBC & American Legion Sponsor Candidate Forum The Falls Church Chamber of Commerce, the Falls Church Republican Committee, the Falls Church Democratic Committee, Citizens for a Better City and the American Legion Post 130 are co-sponsoring a School Board and City Council Candidates Forum on Thursday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. The forum will feature two one-hour question and answer sessions. The first hour of the forum will be dedicated to the school board candidates while the second will be for the City Council candidates. Halloween Window Painting Begins Saturday, Oct. 10 Downtown businesses in Falls Church will be “boo-tified” on Saturday, October 10, Sunday, October 11 and Saturday, October 17 with painted storefront windows. Members of the Falls Church community are invited to design and paint a Halloween themed window at designated downtown businesses. Painters, from first grade to adult, can enter as individuals or groups. The Halloween Paint-In was created by Marty Behr and is a project of Falls Church Arts with support from the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce, Creative Cauldron, the Falls Church Business in Education Partnership and the City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department. Solano to Host Food Drive Fundraiser Thursday Dr. Raymond Solano of Solano Spine & Sport Chiropractic is hosting his 6th annual Food Drive and Fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank on Thursday, October 8 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Clare & Don’s Beach Shack. The event will include music, food, and door prizes as well as appearances by local sports stars and celebrities and a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia, business services and health services. Asian American Business Summit & Expo Set for Oct. 16 The Asian American Chamber of Commerce will host its Asian American Business Summit & Expo on October 16 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center. The event will feature a business expo, keynote presentation, workshops, power networking and a diversity job fair. The Asian American Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to improving economic development for Asian Pacific American owned businesses in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
