In Memoriam (continued) friends founded the first professional polo league in the Mad River Valley, and he played in tournaments throughout New England and in Canada. Arthur always loved an adventure, whether exploring the Maine coast in a favorite boat, skiing down the slopes at Sugarbush, or playing in a polo game. Later in life, he discovered a love for painting and completed dozens of oil paintings of maritime scenes. He also loved to write, and he recently completed his memoir. Survivors include his sister Anne Winter; sisters-in-law Ann Williams, Birgit Deeds and her husband Andy; his children, Astrid, John and Nate; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His wife of 55 years, Hanne Nielsen Williams, and his two brothers, Jack and Sewall, died earlier.

FAIRFIELD “TAD” GOODALE III ’62 May 24, 2014 Fairfield Goodale III, fondly known as Tad, age 64, died peacefully on May 24, 2014, at his home in Brooklin, Maine, surrounded by his loved ones. After attending Fay, Tad graduated from St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, and from Virginia Commonwealth University; he earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography at Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. In 1995, Tad co-founded Compass Point Real Estate in Blue Hill, Maine, a company that still flourishes today. He was a member of the Hancock County Board of Realtors, served on the Brooklin Planning Board, and was a longstanding board member of The Ark, in Cherryfield, Maine.

Tad is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Lindsay Hitch; his parents, Fairfield Goodale, M.D. ’36 and Mary Margaret Lyman Goodale of Duxbury, Massachusetts; and siblings Anna Goodale Peterson and husband Harvey, of Belfast, Maine; John Goodale and wife Martha of Groton, Massachusetts; Susan Goodale, M.D. and husband Chris Brown of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Timothy P. Goodale and wife Kathy of Belchertown, Massachusetts.

JACK PIROZZOLO, Former Trustee August 20, 2014 Jack Pirozzolo died peacefully on August 20, 2014 in Surry, Maine. He leaves his wife of three years, Cynthia White Pirozzolo of Lancaster; seven adult children and their spouses: daughter Lisa Pirozzolo ’79 and Chris Goddu of Boston; son Jack Pirozzolo ’80 and Anne Depew of Brookline; son Josh Pirozzolo ’81 and wife Tracy of St. Paul, Minnesota; daughter Jennifer Madden ’83 and husband John of Cohasset, Massachusetts; son Jason Pirozzolo ’85 and wife Julie of Glens Falls, New York; daughter Jessica Pirozzolo of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; and daughter Rebecca Jan Pirozzolo-Mellowes and husband John of Fox Point, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Joan Woodruff Pirozzolo, who died in 1993. Jack was a skilled trial lawyer who appeared regularly in courts throughout the United States to litigate landmark cases establishing significant principles of patent and copyright law. A longtime resident of Lancaster, Massachusetts, he served on Fay’s Board of Trustees from 1980 to 1990; he also served on Lancaster’s Planning Board and the Nashoba Regional School Committee.
