CAMPING GEAR

4 Tents:

• Frontcountry: Camping areas that are easily accessible by car or other means that don’t require much work to get to the campsite. • Backcountry: Remote camping that is not accessible by car. • Rating: A tent’s capacity is how many people will be able to sleep in the tent when lying shoulder to shoulder without much additional space available. • Vestibule: Area outside of the tent but under the rain cover that can be used for gear storage. • Ground tarp/footprint: Placed under the tent to keep tent dry.

Sleeping Bags:

• Compression sack: Storage bag with straps that allow you to compress the sleeping bag to a smaller size for easier transport. • Liners: A thin liner/sheet that goes inside the sleeping bag to add warmth; can also be used separately or on top of the sleeping bag during warmer weather.

Sleeping Pads:

• Sleeping pads add comfort as well as insulation from the ground, keeping you warmer on those cooler nights.

Backpacks:

• What is the difference between a hiking backpack and a normal school backpack? These backpacks all have aluminum frames that contour to your back and hipbelts that help to distribute the weight to your hips. As a result, you are able to carry much heavier loads in comfort.

Dry Bags:

• Dry bags are used to keep equipment dry. Smaller bags/boxes are ideal for phones and electronics, while larger bags can fit tents, sleeping bags, and clothing. These are great for kayaking and canoeing- if it rains or the boat capsizes, dry bags will keep the contents dry.

WATER SPORTS

24 Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP):

• Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is popping up everywhere. It is a great sport that can be done on almost any body of water from the ocean to rivers to inland lakes. Learning how to SUP is simple and just takes a few minutes to catch on. • Paddling provides a great full body and core workout. Many athletes have used SUP as a cross training tool for other sports or simply taken it up as their primary sport. It doesn’t take a whole lot of experience or equipment to get started. • U.S. Coast Guard regulations require a personal flotation device (PFD) to be worn or carried on the SUP at all times (included in rental).

Mask, Snorkel, & Fins:

• Mask and Snorkel Set: Variety of styles to choose from • Dry snorkel keeps water out, even when diving underwater

Surfboard:

• We have 8 foot soft top surfboards available. These are perfect for beginners or for surfing smaller waves. • Surfboards come waxed and include a leash to be worn around your ankle, enabling you to easily retrieve the board if you fall.

THE GAMES

30 Bocce:

• The game of Bocce can be played in any outdoor space that is surrounded by grass or sand. Bocce cannot be played on concrete surfaces. Bocce involves eight balls, four for each team, and a smaller ball called the pallino. Each team can have one - two players. To start, the teams will decide who will throw the pallino first. Once the pallino is thrown, the teams will toss one ball at a time, underhand, to attempt to get as close to the pallino as possible. Once all of the balls from both teams are thrown, the points can be added up. Each ball is equal to one point. Whichever team has a ball closest to the pallino gets a point for their team. If two balls from the same team are closest to the pallino, your team will get two points. If a ball from each team is equally distant from the pallino, the points cancel out. The team with the most points from the round will throw the pallino first next. First team to score 11 points wins.

Horseshoes:

• Horseshoes is played between two people or two teams of two people. Players/teams take turns tossing horseshoes at stakes located 40 feet away. If a horsehoe goes around the stake, it is called a “ringer”. Ringers are worth three points. If no one gets a ringer, points are awarded based on distance to the stake. Whichever player has a shoe closest to the stake gets a point. If two shoes from the same player are closest to the stake, they will get two points. If all shoes are the same distance from the stake, no points are earned. Traditionally, a game of horseshoes consists of 25 innings, or rounds. Whoever has the most points after 25 innings, or whenever you decide to end, wins!
