FASTEN nasce nel 2013 dalla confluenza di due esperienze lavorative e professionali complementari di progettazione e project management: la gestione dei sistemi e dei prodotti di facciata da una prospettiva aziendale unita alla progettazione edilizia integrata in tutti i suoi aspetti ingegneristici ed architettonici. FASTEN pone al centro della propria attività la progettazione degli involucri edilizi, con particolare attenzione al tema delle facciate, costituendo un polo di aggregazione per professionalità diverse e specialistiche in grado di risolvere i diversi problemi progettuali tipici dell’involucro. L’esperienza maturata in quindici anni di lavoro consente di fornire una competenza trasversale ed olistica nelle realizzazioni, a diversa scala, per tutti i livelli del sistema e del processo edilizio. FASTEN fornisce servizi di ingegneria rivolti a diverse tipologie di operatori del settore delle costruzioni: - assistenza al progettista edile con consulenza specializzata per la definizione degli involucri in fase di progettazione esecutiva, allo scopo di ottenere una soluzione coerente nei dettagli e nei risultati architettonico-compositivi, abbinata ad una verifica dell’efficienza energetica; - supporto alle imprese per lo sviluppo del progetto costruttivo dell’involucro abbinata ad un’adeguata ingegnerizzazione dei componenti e la direzione tecnica di cantiere. FASTEN was born in 2013 from the confluence of two work and professional complementary experiences of design and project management: the management of systems and facade products from a business perspective combined with integrated building design in all its aspects of engineering and architecture. FASTEN focuses on the design and construction of building envelopes, with particular attention to the facades, being an aggregator for different and specialized professionals able to solve several design problems typical of the building envelope. The experience gained over fifteen years of work allows to provide a wide and holistic expertise in projects, at various scales, at all levels of the system and the building process. FASTEN provides engineering services aimed at different types of operators in the construction sector: - assistance to the building designer with specialized advice for the definition of the envelopes in the final design phase, in order to obtain a coherent solution for the details and the architectural composition results, combined with a verification of the energy efficiency; - support to companies in the development of the construction design of the envelopes with adequate components engineering and technical project management.

Attraverso l’analisi degli aspetti igrotermici, acustici e prestazionali delle sequenze di layer funzionalmente specializzati è possibile garantire elevati livelli di comfort abitativo. FASTEN elabora simulazioni igrotermiche in regime statico e/o dinamico e modelli fluidodinamici, finalizzati alla verifica delle soluzioni tecniche ipotizzate e all’ottimizzazione delle stratigrafie per il risparmio energetico.

The envelope plays an essential role in determining the energy efficiency of the building. Through the analysis of hygrothermal, acoustic and performance aspects of the functionally specialized layers sequences it is possible to ensure high levels of living comfort. FASTEN elaborates thermal simulations under static and dynamic conditions and fluid dynamic modeling, aimed at checking the technical solutions assumed and optimizing the stratigraphies for energy saving.

La progettazione esecutiva dell’involucro si concretizza attraverso una sequenza di fasi che, partendo dal progetto architettonico sottoposto o dalle esigenze espresse della committenza, permettono di completare il processo costruttivo. FASTEN completa le operazioni necessarie per l’approvvigionamento dei materiali, con distinte e disegni di officina, e consente di operare in cantiere con istruzioni di posa e disegni di lavoro dettagliati tali da permettere una facile esecuzione dell’opera da parte del personale incaricato. A partire dagli elaborati architettonici, la definizione del sistema viene approfondita e studiata sino ad una scala di dettaglio (1:10, 1:5, 1:2). 8

Rilievo dello stato di fatto Survey of current condition
Lo studio del supporto rustico rappresenta il punto di partenza per la progettazione esecutiva dei sistemi di facciata, con implicazioni sia sulle scelte strutturali (tipologia, ancoraggi, componenti, ecc) che compositive (dimensioni, scansioni, texture, ecc). FASTEN in mancanza di un progetto architettonico di riferimento, o comunque su richiesta, può intervenire in cantiere per rilievi completi del costruito. Il rilievo del costruito consente di apportare eventuali modifiche al progetto esecutivo, definendo correttamente l’esistente, origine dell’intera progettazione di facciata.

The study of the rough support is the first step for the design of facade systems, with implications on the structural choices (type, anchors, components, etc.) and on architectural design (sizes, layout, texture, etc.). FASTEN in the absence of architectural design drawings as reference, or however on request, may intervene directly on the building site for comprehensive surveys of the current conditions. The survey gives the possibility to make changes to the construction design, correctly defining the existing building, origin of the whole facade design.

Construction details affect specific and complex points of interface between the envelope and the other technological elements of the building. The architectural composition quality is achieved by exploiting at best the characteristics of materials and the adopted technological solutions aiming to a global optimization of the whole building. FASTEN develops envelopes and facades, with an in-depth knowledge of the market supply and the design techniques of the different components, proposing technically efficient solutions that are able to integrate the architectural features expected, the type of material and system to be adopted also in relation to the technological elements that interface with the specific project. 13

L’ottimizzazione degli ordini e la riduzione degli sfridi dipendono dalla corretta identificazione e progettazione della pelle esterna del sistema di facciata. Lo studio del rivestimento in funzione delle modalità di installazione, delle caratteristiche del sistema e di strategie che consentano l’assorbimento di eventuali tolleranze, derivano un’esecuzione a regola d’arte. FASTEN sviluppa distinte di produzione e posa per il rivestimento di facciata, diversificate secondo le caratteristiche del materiale (ceramica, pietra, cotto, vetro, fibrocemento, ecc) in funzione delle caratteristiche specifiche del progetto e delle forzanti contestuali.

The optimization of the orders and the reduction of waste depend on the correct identification and design of the outer skin of the facade system. The study of the cladding according to the modes of installation, the system characteristics and the strategies that allow the absorption of eventual tollerances, result in an execution according to the book. FASTEN develops production and posing itemized lists for the facade cladding, which vary according to the characteristics of the material (ceramic, stone, terracotta, glass, fibercement, etc.) depending also on the specific design characteristics and contextual forcings.

Ottimizzazione dei componenti Optimization of the components
La progettazione esecutiva del sistema è accompagnata dall’ottimizzazione dei componenti e dall’elaborazione di piani di montaggio che, oltre a fornire un quadro completo di produzione, semplifichino e velocizzino le operazioni di cantierizzazione. FASTEN sulla base delle caratteristiche del sistema prescelto (puntuale, strutturato, ecc), e dei materiali del sistema (acciaio, alluminio, ecc) realizza elaborati di produzione, schemi di taglio dei componenti e distinte materiali. Se necessario, a seguito di un’opportuna analisi dei costi, vengono progettati componenti speciali in grado di ottimizzare il sistema nel suo complesso. Le distinte sono accompagnate da disegni di lavorazione dei singoli pezzi. 16

The design of the system is accompanied by components optimization and the development of assembly plans that simplify and accelerate the operations on the building site, in addition to providing a comprehensive overview of the production. FASTEN based on the characteristics of the chosen system (punctual, structured, etc.) and the materials of the system (steel, aluminum, etc.), realizes production drawings, cutting patterns of the components and bills of materials. If necessary and after an appropriate costs analysis, special components are designed to optimize the whole system. The bills of materials are accompanied by fabrication drawings of the single element. 17

Ingegneria dei componenti Components engineering
Il calcolo strutturale della facciata coinvolge tutti gli aspetti di resistenza e stabilità degli elementi, valutati sia singolarmente (ancoraggi, staffe, montanti, traversi, ganci, lastre etc.) che nel complesso (sistema). La modellazione degli elementi consente di individuare gli schemi statici che permettono di simulare in modo realistico il comportamento fisico della struttura prima del montaggio. FASTEN affianca l’analisi strutturale alla progettazione esecutiva, attraverso l’elaborazione di modelli agli elementi finiti, con l’utilizzo di specifici software di calcolo. Si elaborano modellazioni di tipo mono e bidimensionale in regime lineare, di tipo tridimensionale, modellazioni in regime non lineare e dinamico per la definizione delle sollecitazioni agenti. Prove in laboratorio presso Enti terzi certificati possono essere eseguite per testare in modo diretto le caratteristiche meccaniche dei componenti utilizzati. 18

The structural facade calculation involves all the aspects of resistance and stability of the elements, evaluated both singly (anchors, brackets, mullions, transoms, hooks, tiles, etc.) and on the whole (system). The modeling of the elements allows to determine the static schemes of the system, for the simulation of the realistic physical behavior of the structure before the assembling. FASTEN combines the structural analysis with the construction design, through the development of finite element models (FEM), with the use of specific calculation software. Mono and two-dimensional linear models, three-dimensional, nonlinear and dynamic models for the definition of stress agents are developed. Tests certified by third party laboratories may be performed to directly test the mechanical properties of the components used. 19

Direzione tecnica di cantiere Technical project management
La qualità del prodotto finito e il raggiungimento delle caratteristiche attese dipendono, oltre che da un adeguato progetto costruttivo, da una puntuale verifica dei lavori durante la realizzazione dell’opera. Il processo “certificato” della soluzione di facciata in tutte le sue fasi, su carta e sul campo, consente la rispondenza del sistema ai requisiti normativi e di legge. FASTEN a supporto delle professionalità coinvolte, esegue direzioni tecniche di cantiere, fornendo assistenza costante in termini di coordinamento e di sviluppo dei lavori in situ. Le attività, assieme alla verifica dei tempi e dei costi di esecuzione, vengono puntualmente monitorate e rendicontate per un corretto ed aggiornato sviluppo del processo. 20
