repurposing things comes not only from a great find, but also from that moment when you figure out how to give new life to an old piece. Born a lefty (the only one in my family), I was blessed with being creative, using the “right” side of my brain, and having the ability to see the potential in things that most people wouldn’t be able to see.

This dress is made from an original, dusty rose colored, 1920s flapper dress that had some damage to it and had been poorly restored. I saw how beautiful that the dress could be if done right and decided to repurpose it into an alternative wedding/bridesmaid/prom dress! The base of the dress is an ivory colored 1940s/1950s dress slip. Various shades of tulle and organza (ivory, light pink, light peach) that I added are also mostly vintage that I have repurposed from other dresses. The sheer organza fabric has been cut into a bunch of handkerchief-size pieces with unfinished, slightly frayed edges to give it a more shabby chic look.
