Ascorbic Acid

Bentonite (Sodium) - Vitiben

• Used as an antioxidant in conjunction with sodium or preferably potassium metabisulphite.

• Sodium bentonite is a hydrated aluminium silicate consisting of layers/ sheets of negatively charged atoms. • Bentonite is used after fermentation to clarify white wine and remove positively charged proteins precipitating them from the wine.

Caustic Soda Solution 36%

• Contains sodium hydroxide. • Used for cleaning wine making equipment. • Removes tartrate deposits from stainless steel and most plastics.

Crème Of Tartar

• Used to neutralise any caustic residues remaining after cleaning. • Used to remove any odour or flavour from filter pads prior to filtration of wine.

• Seeded into white wines under refrigeration to reduce time required for cold stabilisation. • Used to avoid unsightly crystalline deposits in bottled wine.

Mono Propylene Glycol

• Used as a yeast nutrient and provides nitrogen to the yeast during fermentation. • Also used to remove hydrogen sulphide during fermentation.
