Royal, JoAnn, Heidi and her husband, Mark, volunteer to help with career development events for Tri-Valley. Heidi is also active in Farm Bureau, the League of Women Voters and the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee. Mark has worked for John Deere dealers for more than 27 years, including 24 years at the parts desk of C&B Operations in Mitchell. Heidi joked that he’s the most popular parts man in the area, with customers being known to circle the interior of the dealership until he is available to help them. “When I go to the Mitchell area and I tell people I’m married to Mark Zwinger, then it’s like I’m married to this celebrity.” The couple attended the NCBA convention in San Antonio several years ago where Heidi accepted a Beef Quality Assurance-Dairy award on behalf of Boadwine Dairy. Mark attended one of the breakout sessions on advocacy at the urging of a customer who told him he was an “influencer.” The customer told him: “You know people and people know you – people trust you and they’ll believe what you tell them.” Heidi agreed: “You don’t realize how much outreach each of us can do. For Mark, that might be somebody buying mower parts or some random person he meets at the fair.”

Mark is an expert at grilling and smoking meat. He is frequently grilling for fundraisers and 4-H gatherings. His breakfast sandwiches are a favorite of families who stall near them in the dairy barn at the South Dakota State Fair. A 4-H’er from
