According to Jeff, “I liked Sydney before then, but the football coach said, ‘If you have a girlfriend, keep her. If you don’t have a girlfriend, you don’t get one during the season.’ That’s actually pretty good advice. He didn’t want the drama.” It must have worked – the Hurley-Marion team won the state championship that year. Their three-year-old son, Clay, said Dad drives the cutter and Papa Rich drives the combine. “He’s only three, but he knows every piece of equipment we have and who drives it,” Jeff said.
