FMC has further strengthened its commercial team following the appointment of Simon Francis as its new commercial technical manager in Scotland and the North of England. Simon brings over 20 years of technical expertise and agronomy knowledge. He joins FMC from UPL where he was commercial and technical manager. The company has also added to the commercial team with the appointments of Alison Casey and Karl Geary as key account managers. Alison has a proven track record with extensive commercial

For more than 20 years Alex has worked for a well-known supplier of agricultural parts, working in most functions from sales and demonstrations to most recently being responsible for product development. “Joining Opico is a new and exciting challenge for me. It has given me a shift in focus from my years working primarily with parts, to resolving issues with complete machines,” said Alex.

After-sales and design appointments Manufacturer Claydon Drills has announced two key appointments to its after-sales and design departments. After-sales manager Robert Culbert is responsible for all aspects of aftersales service and training. Robert has spent most of his career in the automotive trade and worked all over the world including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Beirut and Malta. Returning to the UK, Robert joined agricultural machinery dealer Oliver Landpower in Luton and spent three years with the company before returning to Malta to join a dealership specialising in Fiat Group brands. John Long (above right) has taken on the newly created role of

design engineer and compliance coordinator, to ensure that the company’s products meet the legal and technical requirements in markets around the world. John is also a design engineer, assists the company’s design and manufacturing director Oliver Claydon and is responsible for integrating all aspects of production. John’s career started in the RAF, where over 15 years he trained as an engineer and was involved in weapons technology. Later he worked for manufacturers in design roles before becoming operations director for a manufacturer. Before joining Claydon John was involved in design contract work, for companies in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

Product marketing specialist David Redman has recently taken on the role of product marketing specialist for high horsepower

tractors at New Holland Agriculture, after over 20 years (11 of which within the CNH Industrial group) spent in the agriculture industry as area sales manager for the south east of England.

Karl joins FMC from BASF where he was a key account manager and brings with him considerable experience working in the crop protection, fertiliser, seed treatment and bio-pesticide sectors. “Strengthening the UK team through employing talented people with first class commercial and technical experience, demonstrates FMC’s commitment to UK agriculture and our customers,” says FMC UK/IE country leader Simon McMunn. “These appointments, alongside the current team, the current portfolio and the excellent pipeline, play a large part in helping secure further successful progression of FMC in the UK and Ireland,” he adds.

Marketing management role for Tarek Manitou UK has announced the appointment of Tarek Husain as marketing manager for the UK and Republic of Ireland. “With 25 years marketing experience in both B2B and B2C marketing, excellent communication, branding and relationship building skills, Tarek’s experience will help with our

continued growth and raise the profile and awareness for the Manitou and Gehl brands in the UK and ROI,” said Manitou managing director Mark Ormond. Prior to joining Manitou, Tarek worked for a large global engineering company that manufactures market leading spray painting and fluid handling equipment to Tier One automotive manufacturers, high end boat building, Formula 1 and other industries.

Advice role for Rose Rose Riby has been appointed to AHDB’s arable knowledge exchange team to work across the County Durham, Northumberland and Yorkshire region. She previously worked for plant breeder KWS UK in regional sales, covering the North and Scotland. In that role, Rose provided regional growing advice to merchants, agronomists and farmers. She is currently working towards her BASIS qualification having already completed her Foundation Award

in Agronomy and Certificate in Crop Protection IPM (Seed Sellers). AHDB Knowledge Exchange provides the first point of contact for growers and others involved in the industry looking to access levy-funded services. As well as events, resources and campaigns it also provides expertise on areas such as soils, rotations, benchmarking and integrated pest management. Rose joins the cereals and oilseeds side of the team and will run key initiatives, such as the Monitor Farm programme, as well as events in the North East region.
