silage and stock trailers. “We sell a lot of HiSpec products,” said Steve. “It’s a great franchise and sales have more than doubled in recent years. The range appeals to new and existing users but increasing demand for larger models is evident every time machines are updated. KRM is another success story and the latest fertiliser spreaders have effective and reliable headland shut-off systems which attract lots of interest. “The Teagle range is manufactured locally in Cornwall so
has a very loyal following and straw choppers and flail mowers are especially popular with livestock and mixed farms,” he added.
Positive feedback Steve said sales teams from all the branches were delighted with the attendance and support from customers and suppliers. “They received a lot of positive feedback including calls thanking them for the event and hospitality which was great. A lot of hard work went into organising the open days and the level of support made it very worthwhile.” ■
Claas Disco triple mowers displayed were awaiting delivery to Camelford farmer Mark Kempthorne (left). Trading as TA & SJ Kempthorne the family farm has a 600-head Holstein Friesian dairy herd with milk supplied to Dairy Crest. A new tedder had also been ordered for this season and other machinery supplied by Hamblys includes a Claas Arion 530 tractor, two Scorpion handlers; a 6030CP and a 7030, a KRM spreader and a Tramspread umbilical slurry system. “Back-up from Hamblys is exceptional,” stressed Mark. “They look after us well and we are always comfortable with machinery offered. There are no poor brands. I deal mainly with Martyn Conway and the whole Launceston team.”

Schaffer articulated loaders attracted considerable interest. Hamblys took on the brand in 2016 and sales representative Russell Shadrick, based at the Torrington depot, said customers are impressed. “They are German made with a great reputation for reliability,” he explained. “Manoeuvrability is excellent due to the articulated steering and there has been interest at the open day in the compact 3550T and the bigger T9640 which is a new model. It was launched at Agritechnica and will be available with a 40kph transmission in the UK, making it ideal for larger farms, contractors and operations where it is used on multiple sites.” Russell is pictured (right) with Schaffer UK More over page... sales manager Paul Gower. 58895
