...More on previous page Gregoire-Besson representatives discussed products with potential customers. Ben Burgess area sales representative based at Newmarket, Huw Carter, has recently taken orders for a 5f reversible plough with an Andpak integral packer and a Discordon one-pass disc and tine cultivator. “The quality of build and manufacturer back-up are well respected and I enjoy selling the brand,” he said. Gregoire Besson UK managing director Rob Immink explained why he thinks the ranges are so popular; “We have progressed with plough design including features needed to suit modern farms. While we are well known for our large ploughs, now we have a full range, all built to the same high quality,” he said. Charles and Anna Leadbetter farm in Cambridgeshire and their first John Deere was a second-hand 8410. They were so impressed that a new 6830 was purchased shortly after, and the fleet now includes a 6150R, a 6210R and an 8360R. “We use John Deere FarmSight guidance equipment and, having taken on extra land over the past few years, the precision it provides is superb,” explained Charles. “It’s used for all farm tasks and allows us to be within one ring accuracy when using our 12.3m rolls. We deal with Richard Ward, based at Coates, who I would recommend to anyone. We have an excellent relationship and the back-up from our AMS specialist Peter Roffe is very good too.” Other machinery supplied by the dealer includes a Kuhn Megant 6m tine drill used for beans, a Horsch Joker 6m cultivator, a Pronto 6m trailed drill for cereals, and a Kuhn semi-mounted 7f reversible plough with slatted bodies. Crops are established using field maps generated by yield mapping software and variable rate technology optimises seed and fertiliser placement. Approximately 1,000ha (2,500 acres) of crops are grown on land owned, contract-farmed and held on farm business tenancies. Anna looks after administration and logistics and operates machinery when required. “Ben Burgess gives us such good service,” she commented. “We appreciate the relationship we have with the staff. We know we can pick up the phone seven days a week and it will be answered.” Pictured at the open day (l-r) are Sam Russell - machinery operator for the Leadbetters, Charles Leadbetter, Richard Ward and Anna Leadbetter. Pictured with some of the Kuhn products are (l-r) Kuhn area sales manager Paul Gregory, service engineer Nathan Shore, Ben Burgess Newmarket service manager John Clitheroe and Kuhn area sales manager Matt Grew. Kuhn products have been available through all Ben Burgess depots since September last year. “The dealer has an excellent reputation and does a great job,” explained Paul. “Increased availability in Norfolk has resulted in extra business already. There has been demand for grass harvesting equipment for the coming season and we supplied a large number of fertiliser spreaders, mainly for arable use, this spring. Maize drills are popular too, with orders continuing into the drilling season.”

Manitou products included compact handlers, ideal for operation in traditional farmyards where space is restricted, as well as high capacity models, more popular with large grain storage facilities, straw bale dealers and AD plants.

An extensive range of domestic, commercial and golf products available from Ben Burgess GroundsCare Equipment was on display at both events.

Senior staff from Ben Burgess and John Deere are pictured at the event with a John Deere 4020 dating from the late 1960s. Celebrations continued at the Norfolk Showground Arena in Norwich.
