MEDFORD HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Tigers trying to turn the corner After a promising start to the 2013 campaign that included two wins in its first three games, the Medford softball team lost its remaining 13 contests, including a 7-6 extra-inning defeat to Glenville-Emmons in the opening round of the Section 1-A tournament.

In fairness to the Tigers, last season was the definition of a re-building year as the program got back on its feet after taking 2012 off due to low participation numbers. Though 2014 is still expected to be somewhat of a transition year, the Tigers should also take

steps forward from last season’s 2-14 mark. There are some encouraging signs as the Tigers return the battery of pitcher Brittany Kosel and catcher Ashley Schauer. Also coming back are starters Sam Snyder (shortstop) and Aly Noble (third base).
