NEARBY CAMPING Nerstrand Big Woods State Park
This park is comprised of the largest remnant of Big Woods vegetation in Minnesota. The rolling hills and valleys are traversed by Prairie Creek with its picturesque waterfalls. The Big Woods is reflective of the central hardwood community during presettlement times, containing sugar maple, basswood, oak, ash, and ironwood trees, over 100 varieties of wildflowers, and many varieties of ferns and mushrooms. 51 modern campsites: 27 electric sites and 24 non electric. 4 primitive walk-in/tent sites: Occupancy per site is 6. 3 Group campsites: Occupancy: A site up to 24 people, B site up to 16 people, C site up to 36 people. Camping season: April 1 through mid-October.
