Far Hills Equestrian Riders

(Left to Right—Samantha Takas '19, Caroline Signorino '20, and Emily Dehoff with Ginny Confer, P '94) Congratulations to our Far Hills Country Day School alumni who qualified for the Talent Search East Finals at the historic Team Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ. Emily Dehoff, Samantha Takas '19, and Caroline Signorino '20 successfully negotiated the challenging and technical equitation courses throughout this three-day competition. The Talent Search East Finals was their first experience attending this prestigious event, and they all rode with confidence, style, and skill. Lizzy Chesson '92, who manages our nation’s international show jumping teams, including the Olympics, met with all 58 young riders to explain the goals and format of the event. Best of luck to our young equestrians, present, past, and future, who are learning to ride, enjoy, and cherish their beautiful horses and ponies!

John Plummer '21

On October 11, 2021, John Plummer '21 was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts. To become an Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, fulfill leadership roles, excel in outdoor skills, and complete a comprehensive service project for his community. John rose above those challenges, earning 38 merit badges and completing hundreds of hours of community service. For John’s Eagle Scout Service Project, he was honored to fundraise, source materials for, and build sixteen 10-person picnic tables for the Tewksbury School District to help open their doors during the pandemic by providing outdoor learning and dining space. John couldn’t have completed his project without the support of the Far Hills Country Day School community. Parents and teachers from Far Hills donated generously, allowing John to raise $6,000 in just a few days to cover all the costs of the project. John was also elected to membership in the Order of the Arrow, the national honor society of scouting. For three years, John served as Den Chief for his brother Robby Plummer '24’s Cub Scout Den. John is now a 9th grader at Saint Andrew’s School in Middletown, DE, where he is a member of the varsity football team and the swim team. He continues to be dedicated to the outdoors, environmental causes, and community service.

We grew up and spent many of our early memories together and shared many lessons that laid the foundation for our success. This year, as Alumni Ambassadors, we are excited to join together to make a difference in keeping the Far Hills Legacy alive for years to come—for generations to come.” — Chapin and Eliza
