When I first heard that I will be featuring Woodstock Mafia in Fanbase, I thought to myself, this is so great, a wellknown band going to be featuring in the mag. But I was quite surprised to learn that this band is only now just recording their DEBUT album. I thought that a band like this, that’s been on everyone’s lips lately, would have an album out by now. This just proves to me how hard working this band is. I now predict once the album is out, it is only going to bring more success to this awesome talented band. Launched in April 2011, Woodstock Mafia hit the ground running, trails blazing on the SA music scene. Their unique blend of hard, grunge and alternative rock explodes in high-energy live performances that have had fans screaming for more. Through 2012/2013 Woodstock Mafia have played numerous festivals including, Rocking the Daisies, Synergy Live, Rock the River, Up the Creek, RamFest and Splashy Fen. The band's debut single "Electric Light" play listed on 5FM, featured on 5FM's Powerbytes compilation and received two MK award nominations for their music video. In May 2013, Woodstock Mafia supported American rock band, Chevelle on the Cape Town leg of their tour. Over the winter months they will be back in studio completing their debut album, set for release in September. The band's third single, 'Trigger and Gun', along with a second music video will be launched in the coming weeks. Woodstock Mafia will head up north in August to play South Africa's premiere festival - OppiKoppi.
