The heart of YMCA Camp Greider’s traditional day camp experience! Designed for youth ages 6-12, this program blends outdoor exploration, creative arts, and skill-building activities to inspire curiosity and confidence. Rooted in the Y’s CHoRR values, small, age-appropriate groups create a safe and supportive space where campers have the opportunity to develop friendships, solve problems, and celebrate personal growth
Greider Outdoors is a dynamic camp experience that combines traditional summer day camp fun with an immersive focus on outdoor recreation, nature exploration, and environmental science. Campers dive deeper into adventure with two hours daily in a specialty area of their choice gaining confidence, valuable knowledge, and unforgettable memories along the way.
Greider Discovery blends traditional camp fun with hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Campers spend two hours each day exploring creativity, experimenting, and solving problems through engaging activities that inspire curiosity and personal growth turning every day into an exciting adventure in discovery!
Back for 2025! Greider’s L.I.T. program is a chance for teens who are ready for additional challenges to learn leadership skills in a positive environment, and take on more opportunities for growth in their camp community.
Greider Adventures is the foundation for all of our camp offerings. The emphasis is on fun, healthy activities that build community and provide for an amazing outdoor summer experience. Activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, themed activities, recreational games, boating and archery are built into their summer fun. Greider Outdoors and Greider Discovery add instructional topics that make this one of the most unique summer programs. These camps follow the basic structure of Greider Adventures, except for approximately two hours spent daily on the specialty camp topic. Specialty camps are led by instructors who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to this premium experience.
All registrants must complete the registration agreement, waivers and medical information (ePact) online, and are required before youth will be allowed to participate.
Registration for the week of June 23rd closes on Sunday, June 8th to allow for adequate preparation time for the first week of camp. All other registrations close two Sundays prior to that camp’s start date.
The majority of our activities take place outdoors. Because we cannot depend upon nature to be completely cooperative, alternative programming may be necessary when weather conditions become unsafe, uncomfortable or too unpredictable.
Every camper will receive one camp t-shirt per summer, regardless of the number of camp sessions they attend.
Camp Greider staff make every effort to maintain a safe and enjoyable program for all. Participants are expected to follow basic rules for safety and respect, similar to a school setting. Parents/guardians will be informed of these procedures and guidelines, as well as discipline details in the Parent/Guardian Handbook and are expected to support the policies and procedures of the program and staff. Appropriate measures will be taken to redirect and improve behaviors, with collaboration from guardians when necessary. Tips or information in advance to help prevent and/or address specific needs for your child are encouraged. Behaviors or incidents of an ongoing, unsafe, serious and/or threatening nature may be cause for removal without refund or credit.
All camps are scheduled weekly, allowing families to select and combine any number of weeks throughout the summer. All camps meet for the full day and include recreational activities in addition to the selected topic / theme week. Camps are limited to a maximum number of 16 youth or less, with a minimum of 2 staff (1:8) ratio). Specialty camps feature an experienced instructor in addition to the two daily camp staff, creating an excellent learning environment with a ratio of 3:16 or better. Programs are specifically planned for the ages that are advertised and exceptions are rarely made. Children must meet the listed age requirement for the camp by the start date.

Staff are chosen based on their previous experiences with youth, with preference given to those with a background in education, recreation, or child development. Many staff have prior experience at other summer camps or in a school setting.
All staff are CPR and Standard First Aid certified, have passed a background check, and have participated in extensive orientation and training programs. These initiatives emphasize safety and provide tools and resources for addressing common situations that may arise.
