Together We Make a Stronger Northeast Wisconsin

It’s not always easy to hear the stories or see the pain in the eyes of the people we care for, but our team at Family Services is honored to do this day after day in efforts to help those in need. None of this work would be possible however; without the support and generosity of our community. I hope as you take the time to go through our 2022 Impact Report, you recognize the impact your support has had and feel a sense of pride in knowing you are helping to Protect, Heal, and Care for individuals, children, and families in our community.

Because of YOU, our family programming continues to build strong and healthy families by providing education, resources, and support to parents and caregivers. Nurturing positive relationships and promoting healthy communication reduces the risk of child abuse and neglect; and supports families in reaching their full potential.

Because of YOU, our crisis services continue to provide immediate support and resources to those experiencing distress, trauma, and abuse. Compassionate and skilled staff work tirelessly to ensure that each individual reaching for help is treated with dignity and respect and are receiving the support and guidance they need to heal and move forward.

Because of YOU, we continue to provide critical mental health services to those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges. Our Licensed Therapists serve as a trusted resource for those seeking support and guidance and offer a safe and supportive space for individuals and families to heal.

Challenges inspire creativity and 2023 will be a year of innovation. We continue to seek ways to respond to the needs of our community’s youth and adults, create rapid access to mental health supports, and universal support to new parents; giving children the best chance at reaching their full potential from day one.

It is because of you, our strong partnerships, and generous community that Family Services is able to help people on their toughest days. TOGETHER, we have the power to create a brighter future for families in Northeast Wisconsin!

With gratitude

McKayla* had just given birth to her first child, a beautiful boy named Michael* While she and her husband, Alex* were thrilled to begin their family, they were also feeling a bit overwhelmed and uneasy about taking home and caring for their new baby. Before they left the hospital, they were introduced to Lindsay, a Family Resource Specialist with the Family Service Welcome Baby program. Lindsay shared a wealth of knowledge on nutrition, infant development, safe sleep, postpartum depression and more.

Though McKayla and Alex felt more prepared leaving the hospital, they were relieved to know Lindsay would be available to provide ongoing support and education to them as needed. Through in-home visits, Lindsay provided guidance on how to nurture and care for their baby and eventually toddler; strengthening their confidence and parenting skills.

Lindsay also connected McKayla and Alex to a variety of community resources including parenting classes and child care services. When Alex was temporarily laid-off from his job, Lindsay connected them to additional resources that would assist with food and other essentials.

At age 5, Michael was well-prepared and ready to begin kindergarten. this family and many others have had a great start and will continue to thrive!

Because of your generous support,

YOUR SUPPORT STOPPED CHLOE'S* ABUSE

*names changed to protect client confidentiality

Chloe* was just five years old when she came to Willow Tree for an allegation of sexual abuse. She was in kindergarten and like many kindergarteners who attend school in Brown County, she received a Child Abuse Prevention Education lesson presented by a Willow Tree Prevention Specialist.

During Chloe’s lesson at school, she and her classmates were shown a video featuring Tick Tock the dog, who teaches kids about the three kinds of touches: safe, unsafe, and confusing. While Chloe was sitting on her carpet square listening, she raised her hand and shared that she had a confusing touch. The school guidance counselor took Chloe aside to learn more.

The following day, Chloe was scheduled for a medical evaluation and child forensic interview at Willow Tree Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center. During the interview, Chloe disclosed that her older male cousin touches her under her clothes whenever she visits his house. Chloe did not understand that this was wrong until she learned about it from Tick Tock the dog on the video.
