PARENTS WITH RANK AND PARTIAL SEX CONFLICTS Father the oldest brother of sisters/ Mother the oldest sister of sisters: b(s.,)/s(s..} This relationship is more on the unfavorable side. Both partners were oldest siblings and are likely to be engaged in at least a latent fight for dominance in the family. Moreover, in her original family the mother has not been accustomed to life with a peer of the opposite sex. The father would be able to show her how men and women can arrange their life with each other, and he does and even succeeds at it to a certain extent, but her pride, her independence, and her obedience to her own father are also in the way. She feels that nobody can tell her anything except her father. In the family he is the more sympathetic and tolerant authority, she the stricter and more rigid one. It would be good for her if she did not give up her job or her career altogether with her motherhood, but she should not be engaged in the same area or branch of work that her husband is. He might even be able to switch jobs more easily than she could. When they have children, she tends to bind the girts to herself and to enforce their opposition to men. She does not always succeed, though, and not always with all of her daughters, for their father knows how to get along with girls. The most favorable configuration of children would be a son first, a daughter second, or sons followed by daughters, or first a son, then a daughter, a son, a daughter. The father would have no trouble identifying with his sons and getting along with his daughters, but the mother would not find it quite that easy. She would rather have children in the reverse order, one or several daughters first followed by sons.
