ORAL AUCTION

8. Kristin Kuhns Original Painting As the featured artist for our second annual Uncorked Wine Auction, West Salem artist Kristin Kuhns has created a custom painting just for this event. This domestic landscape is representative of Ms. Kuhn’s “Blanket Series” and measures 36”x 48” on stretched canvas. Ms. Kuhn teaches part-time at Willamette University and Baker Charter School and shows her work at the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery in Salem. “The landscape holds me, wraps me up and gives me comfort as a blanket does.” This work consists of acrylic and fiber on canvas and is intended to blur the distinction between the landscape and us. The flat areas of stitched fabric are reminders of the domestic tradition of needle and thread. Early American girls expressed the naïve sentiment of hope and promise for a new tomorrow in the domestic tradition of stitched samplers. Contributed by: Kristin Kuhns
