Mother’s Day takes place on 30 March this year, so it’s time for your little ones to treat you or you to treat your mother! Perhaps you’d like a lie in and breakfast in bed, a day at the spa, afternoon tea or a trip to the theatre? Or perhaps what you’d really love is a day to spend time with your loved ones. Across the country many museums, National Trust properties and stately homes are running Mother’s Day events, so why not plan a special day with your family this March?

Adjusting to your new baby by Marygrace Anderson from MG Hypnosis

You had the baby, congratulations! However, now we may be faced with a whole range of worries. If the birth didn’t happen to the birthing plan, you might feel disappointed. Or, thinking, “I let myself down or could have done something different”. A sense of not having control over the situation can continue to play through our minds. The pressures can feel overwhelming such as “do I have all the right stuff”, or

having to listen to other people’s views on what is right/wrong for the baby, and your image (physical and mental). The first 4-5 months are key. This time of adjustment can be one of bliss or depression. New mothers need time to learn about raising babies. It takes time to establish a routine, learn what the different cries of their newborn mean and what they need to "survive" in public, and how to sleep/rest when their baby is sleeping. It takes time so don’t beat yourself up. This is a special time so you need to learn how to enjoy it. If you need help, ask for it. If you are feeling down, get some Rescue Remedy from Boots or see a homeopath. If you feel

isolated, attend baby groups with nurturing support groups. Your body has gone through a lot of change and the hormones are settling down, so rest regularly. Most importantly you are not alone. I have seen hundreds of great new mummy’s who just need to learn a few basic coping techniques. I use a combination of hypnotherapy and teach you some simple skills to help you feel better, more confident and relaxed. It's a lot to adjust to and keep in perspective but it is a wonderful time too! Remember that! Asking and getting help will restore your confidence and help your family enjoy those first special months. •Contact Marygrace on 07931 547414 or email marygrace@mghypnosis.co.uk

I loved the views, the garden, the pool, the relaxed pace, the wine. The house is great and would love to return."
