Here is a Summer activity that really delivers something you will all remember forever. It may be building confidence, focusing on your performance skills or simply having lots of fun with like-minded people, Stagecoach Summer School is the place for you.
Whether you are signing up for Matilda in Andover or Bugsy Malone in Fleet you will be part of something very special, all culminating in a full show for family and friends. From Monday 13 - Friday 17 August you will be singing, dancing and acting your way to a fantastic final performance.
So if you are 6-18, sign up and join the team of professionals getting ready for a show in a week. Matilda, an anarchically joyous, gleefully nasty and ingenious Musical OR Bugsy where pandemonium is bound to take place.
There is also a show in a week for students from 4-6. More information and application sheets is available on the website, visit www.stagecoach.co.uk/andover or www.stagecoach.co.uk/fleet
Both schools are now taking bookings for the new term starting in September but contact us early to avoid disappointment.

Limit children’s snacks to 100 calories twice a day
Parents have been advised by health officials to restrict children to only two snacks of 100 calories or less per day to reduce sugar intake between meals.
Recent research has found that half of children’s sugar intake is being consumed between meals. On average, children are consuming at least 3 unhealthy snacks and sugary drinks a day, with around a third of children consuming 4 or more. The overall result is that children consume 3 times more sugar than is recommended.
The ‘100 calorie snacks, two a day max’ tip applies to all snacks apart from fruit and vegetables. To help parents make healthier choices Public Health England has developed ‘Be Food Smart app food scanner’ app that shows by scanning the bar code how many calories, sugar, salt and saturated fat is in the food they are buying.

Jubilee’s holiday clubs provide a summer of fun
Many of us have joyful memories from childhood of playing for hours with friends during the school holidays - riding bikes, playing in the woods and climbing trees. Jubilee’s holiday clubs for 5-11 year-olds promise fun-fuelled adventures on a daily basis with lots of unstructured play which is critical to children’s physical health and mental wellbeing.
Jubilee Cadets is centred around Forest Schools philosophy and based in sublime woodland whilst Jubilee Jets is an activity based club with a fantastic range of games, sports and crafts on offer led by a caring, energetic team. You can choose a mix of both clubs throughout the holidays for maximum variety depending on your children’s wishes!

Celebrate play on Playday UK
Playday is the national day for play in the UK, and will take place this year on Wednesday 1 August. Playday is an annual celebration of children’s play with thousands of children and families playing outside at events across the UK. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of children’s play and the need for quality play opportunities every day of the year.
From small-scale community events to thousands of children taking part in events organised in parks and open spaces – Playday is celebrated by each community in a way that suits them. As well as a celebration of children’s right to play, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. You can hold and register your own Playday event or find one close to you by visiting www.playday. org.uk

Under the Sea fun at the Aquadrome

Little swimmers have somewhere new to paddle at Basingstoke Aquadrome. Under the Sea - Splash and Play is a new interactive water play area next to the lagoon pool for young children. The new play area includes a number of fun features such as fish spouting water jets, tipping buckets and water wheels.
Funded by Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust, the colourful new water feature is designed to help younger children gain confidence in the water whilst enjoying its stimulating and eye-catching design that’s educational, interactive and most importantly, fun! It was named ‘Under the Sea’ by competition winner six-year-old Rhys Richards, a Buryfields Infant School pupil from Odiham, in a competition at the Aquadrome.

Voices in the Middle

Sadly, 1 in 3 children in UK will see their parents split up before they reach their 16th birthday. Voices in the Middle is a charity that is raising awareness of the impact of divorce and separation on young people in the UK. This includes providing a place for young people to find help and ways to share their voice, without being put in the middle of any arguments.
At the centre of this support, a new digital platform has been launched, www.voicesinthemiddle.com, a dedicated place where young people can find help and support, voice their views and share their experiences, read helpful content and connect with discussion boards, helplines and local services. It is a collaboration between young people, the family law and mediation sector and The Family Initiative charity.
