The importance of role play

How does role playing help your child’s development? Find out here.

Every child loves to play make believe and there is no better place for supporting and awakening their imagination than Little Street. Our play centres have a variety of themed rooms, scaled down to be the perfect size for little people, and carefully designed and filled with props to offer a creative and educational play experience.

In a time where children are increasingly drawn to technology for entertainment, and with concerns about its impact on their social and emotional development, Little Street strives to provide an environment that nurtures those skills.

Through role play children expand their understanding of themselves and others, it helps them to develop language skills and discover leadership ability. By encouraging social interaction and problem solving it also enables children to gain confidence. We have created a little world for big imaginations, encouraging children to investigate, explore and experiment.

Our play centres also help parents to engage with their children in imaginative play, fostering a sense of connectedness. And whilst we serve great coffee should you want to take a break whilst the little ones explore, many parents tell us that they enjoy playing at Little Street as much as their child.

Sounds Right Phonics Classes for Kids

Give your child a headstart with Phonics fun!

Sounds Right Phonics Classes for Kids provide fun, high energy classes which teach early phonics skills to children aged 1-4 years - and the best part is that children don’t even realise that they are learning!

Classes are already running in Sevenoaks and surrounding areas and are launching at Edenbridge in September.

Created by experienced Early Years teachers, the classes aim to equip pre-schoolers with the phonics skills to ensure they are ready to begin their reading and writing journey at school. The Minis Class is aimed at children from approximately 12 - 30 months. Children explore sounds and rhyme so developing their speaking and listening skills as well as completing activities to improve their gross motor skills. In the Preschool Class for 2.5-4 years, children learn different sounds and letter recognition. Each class also looks at how to orally blend and segment words which are the skills needed to read and spell plus we work on fine and gross motor skills to work the muscles needed to go on to write!
