‘Maggie’s Mittens’ and ‘Maggie’s Monsters’ are both Scottish themed picture books which are suitable for ages 2-7. They are both beautifully illustrated by Alison Soye and written by Edinburgh based Coo Clayton. ‘Maggie’s Mittens’ tells the tale of Maggie trying to get rid of her itchy mittens that she really doesn’t want to wear. She tries throwing them at various statues and creatures including Greyfriars Bobby and the Loch Ness Monster. A story that many parents and children will relate to! ‘Maggie’s Monsters’ sees Maggie on the hunt around Scotland for a real monster to play with. She comes across all sorts of Scottish wildlife including wildcats, deer and highland cows but in the end finds the perfect monster to play with. Both books are priced at £6.99 and would make a lovely Christmas gift.
