Toddlers

FREE THINGS to do in BRISBANE with TODDLERS We are LUCKY in Brisbane to have many amazing FREE community-funded spaces that offer FUN and ACTIVITY for toddlers. Whatever the weather, there’s always SOMEWHERE to go and SOMETHING to do to keep active TODDLERS busy.

INDOOR FUN If it’s raining outside and you don’t fancy jumping in puddles, or if you need to escape the summer heat, find fun indoors for curious toddlers who love to be inspired.

QUEENSLAND MUSEUM It is hard to believe this fabulous venue is absolutely FREE to enter! If your toddler loves dinosaurs they can meet some of Queensland’s long-lost inhabitants from millions of years ago in the static and interactive exhibits. Upstairs, there is heaps more to discover in the Discovery Centre, where your child will find insect and taxidermy displays, live snakes, stick insects and cockroaches, and lots of fossils and cultural items hidden in drawers and cases. Head to the Queensland Museum website for information: qm.qld.gov.au

OUTDOOR FUN If your toddler loves to run and explore in the great outdoors, try one of these great outdoor venues in the city.

ROMA STREET PARKLANDS For toddlers this is a great spot where they can run their little hearts out. There’s a huge flat lawn bordered by a path that’s great for riding bikes or scooters. They can also enjoy the two playgrounds located in the parklands or explore the gardens, which will blow their growing minds with the range of colours, textures, and smells. Be aware that there are areas of the parklands where toddlers can easily gain access to waterfalls and other water features, but it’s more than manageable and mostly fenced. GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art) The QAGOMA Children’s Art Centre works with artists to create interactive installations and exciting activities for kids and families. We really love how hands-on GOMA is for toddlers - who doesn’t love not having to say ‘no, don’t touch that’ for the thousandth time in a day! There is always something to make, touch or play with at GOMA, and the displays and activities change regularly so you can always find something new to do there. SOUTH BANK PARKLANDS When you’re looking for things to do with toddlers in Brisbane, South Bank has to be on your list! There are multiple playgrounds, water play at the Aquativity area, rolling green lawns for picnics, and a patrolled beach and lagoon. Brisbane City Council hosts free activities just for toddlers and preschoolers – Kids Collective – on Thursday mornings.
