EDITOR'S NOTE FAKfulness Magazine Project begins its first issue with an amazing roster of international artists. Project is focused on promoting international contemporary artists both emerging and established, representing various genres of art. The magazine has not yet fixed media or format. The 1st Issue is mainly dedicated to visuals with short texts. In the future I hope to engage the field of cultural production surrounding contemporary art theory, philosophy and criticism. The following pages contains individual profiles of each selected Artists. They individual styles and subject may differ but each artist is undoubtedly driven by something personal to them and have used that drive to create powerful body of work. In my art works (especially lately) I try to create an uncomfortable, at first glance, connection between my (or someone else’s) inner world and our environment. Marie Charlotte Nouza Marie-Charlotte Nouza addresses a huge range of topics through her expansive body of work. From complex topics such as feminism, gender identity, sexuality, mental health and death right down to the mundanity of everyday life. MarieCharlotte’s flow of inspiration is organic, cited usually from a combination of her environment, her relationships, her personal experiences and history. Irrespective of the topic Marie-Charlotte focuses heavily on capturing the most ‘true to life’ elements of her subjects; be it loved ones, acquaintances or complete strangers. With a background in painting restoration Marie-Charlotte developed a huge appreciation for classical paintings, with this role not only was she able to develop a pristine technique which allowed her to replicate old paintings. Allusions to this period of her career are very much evident in her work. It was when Marie-Charlotte attended École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts that her work took a more contemporary approach. The sourcing of photographic references lays an important foundation for Marie-Charlotte’s body of work. Whether sourced from the internet, old postcards or taken herself Marie-Charlotte mindfully studies her subjects; their facial expressions, their personalities, their self-portrayal and personal history, capturing an in-depth snapshot of these findings. Marie-Charlotte’s painting technique and use of colour is often an embodiment of the painting’s theme/mood, this can be as obvious as a general feeling of the topic or as implicit as her own emotional response to the theme or subject. Marie-Charlotte’s work employs a free and unrestricted painting technique upholding the mantra of embracing imperfection. Her paint is allowed the freedom to lay on the piece as it so pleases. Marie-Charlotte invites her audience to connect with her themes and her subjects, often encouraging them to form their own interpretations and responses. Her use of larger scale pieces encourages a more immersive experience.

PEI-LING HO PEI-LING HO (Taiwan) is an interdisciplinary artist. She is studying in School of Visual Arts with an MFA in Fine Arts, and graduates in National Chengchi University with a BFA in Advertising. Through performance, video, photography and mixed media, PEI-LING explores questions of gender identity and perception within various contexts, ranging from the conflict between exotic and local culture and the legitimacy of parents under social system, and drawing from her experience growing up in Taiwan.

When I discover the label of “being a woman,” I find this identity has an unnamed power that deeply fascinates me. I start to bravely embrace all emotions and pains that occur to me as a woman and take them as the nutrition of my artistic creation. NOISE, attempts to manifest the defect of the video itself: noise. Highlighting the female model with strong and unnatural light and colors, the visual composition delivers emotions of helpless, fear, and sadness. ARMANDO NAVARRO Armando Navarro born in San Francisco, lives in Paris. VIKTORIJA DOVCHADZE Viktoriia Dovhadze use photographie as a main medium in her projects in order to demonstrate and explore the existence of other visible and invisible realities , to make the hidden more accessible and to allow images speak for themselves. In her artistic practice she research the possible metamorphosis within the objects, details and phenomena; the possibility of visualization and poetization of these internal images; interpretation of the context`s polysemy, using deconstructive techniques (abstraction, the presence of accidention in photography, fragmentation) by rejecting their real meaning and objective shapes of the real world.

We are digging into each other, trying to penetrate into the smallest fragment, cut it into pieces, pass it through a meat-grinder, combining eroticism and sexuality with death, giving it new meanings, on the one hand sacralizing it, and on the other deforming it. Because what feels, thinks and says our blood and flesh is always true. Life becomes an illusion with a taste of suicidal boredom in its beauty. The body of others is a project based on the link between poetic and synaesthetic concepts, between sensory experience and its metaphorical representation through the image, the way of experiencing one thing in terms of another.

A person can sometimes (intuitively or a priori) trace them, feel them and touch them with a look or try to understand how do they pass through each other, stay or interwine, contrast, absorb or expand the values and symbols hidden in them. The Intourist-Transcarpathian Hotel is one of those spaces. Having the most in common with the real forms of the visible world, it becomes the main field for all possible interpretations. Then, relying on their own principles, another two spaces are passing through it - the cinematic reality of Ulrich Zaidl and metaphysical reality, which is looking for its new objectifications.

ZLOST GYARMATI Visual Artist Based in Budapest, Hungary Art should make people conscious of unconscious things that may remain unconscious even consciously. The objctive of my art is some sort of status report. It is the current representation of states experienced as a necessity. Everything that happens to me and makes me percieve. The irrational reality my artwork present I wish to raise unconscious interest in areas of the modern art. I offer a sort of ‘literacy’ to the recipient with a degree of interactivity that expects the spectators be active: it will not let them become absorbed passively in the view, but will force them think. The process of my artwork is a „war” of ideas, it is a constant and unsolvable conflict within me, during which layers appear and disappear on my canvas representing different atmospheres. Creation is not a linear process, instead a mixture of signs, symbols and atmospheres unbound of time. “I live in a world that i shape at my liking, throughout a virtual pictorial and sculptural movement, transferrig my experiences, photographing reality throughout my filters, refined from years research and experimentation. Painting for my is the first love. An important, pure love. Creating a painting, starting from the spasmodic research of a concept with which I want to send a message to transmit my message, it’s the base of my painting. The sculpture is my lover, my artistic betrayal to the painting. That voluptous and sensual lover that gives me different emotions, that touches prohibited cords… The new series of works on concrete it’s the one that is giving me more personal and professional satisfactions. How was it born? It was the result of an important investigation of my work, the research of that “quid” that i felt was missing. Looking at my work in the past ten years I understood that there was the semantics and semiotics in my visual speech, but the right support to valorize the message was not there. The reinforced cement, the concrete, was created by two thousand years ago by the Romans. It has a millenary story, made of amphitheatres, bridges and roads that have conquered the ancient and modern world. Now it’s a synonym of modernity. Everywhere you go and you find a concrete wall, there’s the modern man in there. From Sidney to Vancouver, from Oslo to Pretoria, the reinforced cement it’s present and consequently the support where the “writers” can express themselves it’s present. The successive passage was obvious for me. If man brought art on the streets in order to make it accessibile to everyone, why not bring the urban in galleries and museums? It was the winning step to the continuous evolutionary process of my work in that “quid” that i was talking about before and that is what is making me expose in prestigious places and is making me be requested from important collectors. When the painting has completly dried off, I brush it with a particular that not only manages to unite every color and shade, but it also gives to the art work the shininess and lucidity that the poster ,that each and every one of us had hanging on the wall, has. For my Concrete Sculptures I use my personal clothing. Throughout some artistical process, in which I use plaster, resin and cement, I transform them in artworks to hang. My memory, my DNA, my memories remain concreted inside, transforming the person that looks at the artworks a type of post-modern archeologist that studies my work as they were urban artefacts. In the past few years, i freed myself from all of the work relationships with galleries that I collaborated with. I think that my work has reached the maturity to covet and to be represented from an important gallery and I would like to use your art project in order to make it be known to who sees this in my project.”

The Original of Love series marks my journey through Brooklyn over a five year period. The paintings started out as pencil drawings on handmade paper and later became ink drawings, a process which took place in Crown Heights and Bay Ridge. Acrylic paint was introduced to the surface of the works in 2016 while I was living in Clinton Hill. The compositions combine a rough expressionist style — reminiscent of my early works — and a cleaner line and edge that I began using while studying in New York with Howard Buchwald. This relationship continues my search for an image dedicated to pure color and feeling. I did not use black in Original of Love and that is a departure from the Void Signifier and On the Other Side series. In my previous works, I used black to create gravity within the image and enhance the contrast. When I removed black from the palette, the paintings became about color temperature. This was both exciting and problematic because it forced me to focus on the drawing part of painting more than ever before. DOROTHEE ZOMBRONNER Dorothe is artist, culture scientis, feminist and activist. She holds a degree in fine arts and a scienfitic degree at Humbolt University. She lives and works in Berlin. ANNA DELIGIANI "I was born in Athens, Greece, where I lived until I studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specifically at the Faculty of Fine Arts. My current project concerns mobility in life. Be it physical migration or a psychological journey, people are always struggling to leave their current situation to find a place where they can finally be at peace. I often use eyes in my paintings to symbolize the fact that there is always someone watching you, traveling in the same way as you are, sometimes as a friend and sometimes judging you, feeling empathy and companionship. The insistence on detail comes from my earlier work on engraving, and is used to give a sense of pressure in the compositions, comparing the conditions of modern reality with the exuberance of my work. The vibrant colours are used to emphasize the paranoia of the situation we call everyday life. Furthermore, the colours give a positive vibe that is meant as such: “You can only survive the chaos and paranoia if you embrace it for what it is�
