BUSINESS BUSINESS

T

he economic drivers of Fairmont and Martin County are agriculture and industrial businesses. Fairmont is one of the state’s leading agricultural communities, but also has a significant manufacturing base, as well as a healthy combination of national and homegrown companies. Our city is the largest producer in Minnesota for both hogs and corn, and it is among the state’s top 10 for soybeans and cattle.

Thanks to our business-friendly climate and experienced workforce, a number of agricultural-based businesses have chosen to locate here. They include Avery Weigh-Tronix, CHS, Green Plains Renewable Energy, Advanced Drainage Systems, Kahler Automation, Fairmont Vet Clinic, and Devenish Nutrition. There are more than 500 businesses operating in the city, including two Fortune 500 companies, 3M and CHS. The population of Fairmont is approximately 10,521, but our businesses serve a wider base of 20,422 across Martin County.
