Teachers Recognized at Banquet

On October 27th the Business Education Committee of the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce honored new and 25+ year teachers in the Fairmont area. The new teachers from Fairmont Public Schools, St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Martin Luther High School, St. John Vianney, Southern Plains Educational Cooperative and Presentation College were introduced and welcomed to our community. Music at Red Rock Center

Larissa Lundstrom, an inspirational county musician with Minnesota ties brings together faith, family and country through her music on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30pm at the Red Rock Center. Larissa carries on a unique family legacy simply through the Lundstrom name. With several singles hitting #1 on the ICM charts since and the recording her 4th album during a recent trip to Nashville it’s a concert you don’t want to miss!! Admission $10 at the door (students $5).

Tailgate Party raises money for FHS Booster Club

Center for Specialty Care hosted the FHS Tailgate Party on October 20th. It was a perfect fall evening for enjoying pork chops on a stick and football! Our thanks to the Martin County Pork Producers for grilling the pork chops to perfection. All proceeds from the evening were donated by Center for Specialty Care to the FHS Booster Club. Dual-training Grants Offered to Employers

The PIPELINE Project was established by the Minnesota Legislature in 2014 to expand dual training and apprenticeship programs in Minnesota. Additional legislation passed in 2015 created a grant award program to help em-

occupation for which a competency standard has been identified in one of the four PIPELINE industries: Advanced Manufacturing, Agriculture, Health Care Services and Information Technology. The employers must have an agreement with a training institution or program to provide the competency training. Applications are now being accepted. Employers must complete a DualTraining Grant Application by Nov. 16, 2015. The application includes information on the employees/students receiving the training, and an agreement with the training provider outlining the program/courses in which the trainee will be enrolled. The maximum total grant application is $150,000; the maximum grant award for each employee participating in dual training is $6,000. Grants will be awarded by balancing metro and greater Minnesota needs for each of the four industries. Awards will be granted in January 2016.
