Each year, AMWA honors the outstanding contributions of women in medicine through the presentation of several different awards.
Elizabeth Blackwell Medal Initiated in 1949 by Elise S. L’Esperance, MD, this award is granted to a woman physician who has made the most outstanding contribution to the cause of women in the field of medicine.
